Stayed here for 7 nights, Ilminster and surrounding villages are lovely to explore. Myles and Myra are great hosts and the setting in their orchard garden with 5 free range chickens is a delight. An easy less than 30 minute tow from J25 on the M5 on a clear run. Also in easy reach of the nearby Devon and Dorset coast. Recommend nearby Perry's Cider (5 mins down the road) and for a day out book early for Donkey Walking Adventures at Beaminster, a truly unique and memorable experience.
A lovely CL.
This is a lovely CL. Myles and Myra are very welcoming and helpful. We stay here when we visit our daughter and family in Ilminster. We can either walk to Ilminster along the scenic old railway track or our daughter can collect us, a 5 minute drive for her. The CL is peaceful, very pretty, overlooking a splendid vegetable garden and the resident hens are our new best friends! We look forward to staying here again before too long, hope to see you soon Myles and Myra.

Friendly owners and nice location.
The CL is in a nice location, mostly flat, and easy to find, with very friendly and helpful owners. It is quiet (although there is some passing traffic in the day) and surrounded by fields. There are a few chickens about, who will try to share your meal, which my wife found a bit irritating, but overall they weren’t too much of a bother. One point to note is that owners request that you use green toilet chemical as they have a septic tank. There is a good walking track just up the road which we enjoyed, and I can recommend eating at The Five Dials at Horton, a few minutes drive away. My only grumble, and the reason for a few lost stars is pitches 4 and 5. We arrived fourth, and we put in a rather tight pitch surrounded by a garage one side, a small building site at the back, and a hedge on the third. It was just under 8 metres wide – fortunately we don't have an awning, which would have been impossible. There was plenty of space further round, but the owners response to request to move was “we don’t usually put caravans round there". So my advice is to get there early. Would we use the CL again? Definitely, the owners are friendly, the position is lovely, but I would request a specific pitch.
Our first visit to a CL!
Being new to both the club and owning a Motorhome, we had no idea what to expect! We arrived late afternoon and were greeted by Myles who showed us the facilities and pitches available. The pitches all had electric hook up points and there were several water points too. The pitches were all located at the back of a very large garden area which contains a magnificent vegetable garden. The views around are stunning, over the fields to the nearby hills.
There are some lovely walks both directly from the site and locally (Chard Reservoir is well worth a visit).
The site is very clean & friendly and well maintained. We enjoyed a peaceful nights sleep as the location is very quiet. Your CL will take a lot of beating!
Thank you Myra & Myles, we will be back soon!

Beautiful location, and such friendly owners.
Higher Sea House is the perfect location, if you want to visit Ilminster.
It is located just outside Ilminster, a 45 mins walk along the old railway line (cycle path) or 30 mins along the road. Its got pavement most of the way, but there are parts without a footpath.
If you walk the old railway line as the sunsets, you will see lots of bats and if you listen closely you may hear owls.
The site itself is in a beautiful location.
It is just off one of the main roads out of Ilminster, but once at our pitch we did not notice any road noise.
The pitch overlooks the owners amazing garden.
The owners have a few chickens that are quite inquisitive, but very tame and friendly.
Each morning they would join us for breakfast, which made us smile.
The owners were very friendly and make you really feel like you have know them for years.
We really enjoyed our stay, it was lovely to meet Myra & Myles.
Quiet CL with easy access to cycle route
A quiet CL in a small field behind the owner's house. Some road noise, but not enough to be a nuisance. Simple set up with drinking water taps either side of entrance into field so easy fill up for MH. Well organised recycling and chemical waste, although you do need eco chemical for your toilet as they have a septic tank. Fairly level throughout, but we used ramps to level off for shower drainage etc.
We really enjoyed our stay there - there's excellent access to the SUSTRANS national cycle network which is a 5 minute ride from the site. This led to a pleasant traffic free cycle to pretty Ilminster a few miles away, with lots of independent shops, cafes, and good tourist information in the Arts Centre there. Alternatively you can use this quiet cycle route for an evening walk to nearby Donyatt, about 20 minutes away, with its welcoming pub with good pub grub.
Family Celebration
Chose this CL to be close to a family celebration. The site is very spacious, not all flat, but set amongst fruit trees with views over adjoining farmland. Lovely situation and all facilities provided work very well. Would certainly stay again at Higher Sea House on our next family visit.

Lovely CL
Have just returned from a few days at this lovely CL. The owners were very friendly and helpful. Free range chickens roam around, and you can buy their eggs, and other produce, grown in the owners' vegetable garden. Miles explained local walks we could go on, including the disused railway line which is a stone's throw away. Would recommend a visit to Perry's Cider Farm in Dowlish Wake which is very close by with a good café and farm shop. One can watch the cider being made and sample the varieties for sale. Ilminster and Crewkerne have a good variety of individual shops. We liked it so much we stayed an extra night.

staying on the lawn
Recently returned after a few days stay, the site was close to Forde Abbey, we wanted to attend their open day Fair. The owners were very helpful, and we had the furthest pitch in which suited us fine. Great place to walk the dog from and also for cycling. We will certainly be returning to this site.
