Superb countryside location

All caravaners are different, and what we look for from a site will be very different too. In my case I like small, quiet and simple sites in beautiful areas with good dog walking facilities, If that sounds good to you, then Henfryn is a hidden gem waiting for your visit.

The site is at Groes, just few miles from Denbigh, and with easy access to the north Wales coast, the Clocaenog forests and local towns like Ruthin and Mold. This CL site itself is a gently sloping grass field with ample space for 5 vans and the views from the site across the Clwyd hills are superb.

Facilities on site are basic with just a single toilet and information hut, but all pitches have electric hook-ups and easy access to water points. No shower block, shop or children's play area - and that is just fine by me!  Site charges ( June 2015 ) were just £12 per night inc electric.

The site is immediately next to a country lane, but this has very little traffic (none at night) so it is extremely quiet and peaceful with just the sounds of the countryside to keep you company. On the other side of the lane is a small forest with a wonderful walk alongside a gentle stream - but be warned, to get down to the stream involves a steep decent so both you and your dogs do need to be reasonably fit. It's well worth the effort though.

All the services you need are nearby in Denbigh, which has both Morrisons and Lidl supermarkets along with a host of smaller shops, restaurants etc. TV reception was fine on the standard caravan aerial and mobile phone reception was excellent on vodaphone and adequate on 3 and EE

One tip for dog owners - when returning to the site through Denbigh, look for a lay-by on the main road just after leaving the town and pull in. In the corner is a footpath walk leading to a small forest, or up to a superb viewpoint if you prefer, either one being ideal to give your dog a last run before returning to the site.

Very nice well maintained cl

Stayed for three nights in June it is a lovely site in very nice surroundings the owners maintain it to a good standard. I am sure if they uploaded some pictures showing the setting business would increase.

Lovely!

We have been visiting Henfryn Farm for some years and love it, so keep returning. It is very peaceful with beautiful views. Coed Shed is a pretty walk straight from the site and Llyn Brenig is good even on the coldest of days. Mr and Mrs Ellis are very welcoming and keep the site immaculate.

Fantastic little site

This is an excellent site, well cared for and immaculate. The views of the Clwydian Hills are fantastic - peace, quiet and views - lovely. Very accessible from the A55 and places of interest are nearby - good fly fishing on Llyn Brenig which is less than 30 mins away. We shall be back here again.

An Absolute Gem!!

We visit this lovely CL on a regular basis for weekend getaway as we dont live too far away. Its an absolute cracker! The owners are lovely very welcoming and the site is imaculate. No showers one toilet but that suits us as we use our own facilities in our caravan. Denbigh town is about 10 15 mins away and is a delightful town with Denbigh Castle (a must!) and Morrisons and Lidl supermarkets and also a launderette should you come for a long stay!. Short drive from Llyn Brenig and Alwen Reservoir with visitor centre. Ruthin and Corwen are a bit further but good places to visit (Corwen very good for walking) Also good walks from site right next to Coed Shed (small woodland walk by stream delightful in the snow!) Very good for dogs. Oh and if you pop out just after dusk you will have a good display from the bats!

What a welcome to a charming site

The site is beautifully cared for. When we got out of the caravan on the first morning, the owners had left garden toys outside the caravan for our two daughters. Qhat a welcome!

Superb little site

What a peach of a site. It is well cared for with the grass of almost garden quality, the whole site is so clean and tidy with ample space in an informal setting. Its so relaxing with exceptional views over the rolling countryside with the Clwydian Range in the background. The welcome is warm but unobtrusive - a real escape. This is a site which we will certainly return to.

May 2013

Visited for May Day weekend, very peaceful site, very well kept, just one single toilet but very clean nice little summer house to sit in with info leaflets and book swap. Lane to site is a bit hilly and narrow but site access is excellent and the lane is only short. Owners there if needed but unobtrusive, ideal place for a getaway. would visit again without hesitation.
