excellent CL

We thoroughly enjoyed our short stay at Orchard Lodge and were sorry we weren't able to stay longer. Lovely owners, quiet and peaceful, easy access and lots of interesting places to visit. The sister site Orchard Meadow with grass pitches faces the main road and looks really nice too. I would have no hesitaton in recommending either of these lovely CL's

Friendly quiet site in the Heart of the Cotswolds

Despite COVID restrictions we were made very welcome. The site is perfect for walks to Bibury (two routes easy from the site) and a great base for a day out in Cirencester.

Great CL in the heart of the Cotswolds

As mentioned on so many previous reviews, this site is a really great CL. Orchard Lodge is located at the rear of the farmhouse, and its sister CL, Orchard Meadow is an all grass pitch site adjacent to a quite B road on one side of the farmhouse. Both have a CCTV monitored gated entrance. We stayed on Orchard Lodge which has 4 hardstanding pitches and 1 grass pitch. All are easily accessible, level, with 16A EHU and water taps; grey waste can be piped into the adjacent hedge or field. Julie & Peter are excellent hosts who give a warm, friendly and informative welcome on arrival and can often be seen or will stop for a chat around the site on this working sheep farm. Julie & Peter provided information and a couple of A4 maps of the local area. The village of Bibury is very close, about a mile away with an easy level walk to the village mostly on good footpaths. Bibury itself is a very pretty village with the trout farm, the river area and the Catherine Wheel pub definitely with a visit but unfortunately good tourists magnets. The downside of the village is that a parking space is very difficult to find and the main road along the river and through the village often packed with tourists and parked cars. My advice would be to leave the car on site and see the village early in the morning or on an evening. We have a motorhome, so during the day we cycled around the surrounding, equally picturesque villages on very quite roads and almost traffic free country lanes, with The The Keepers Arms in the village of Quennington being a great pub stop on a day out. If you would like to visit lovely Cotswold villages, the Bibury area is great location to find them and Orchard Lodge or Orchard Meadow are without doubt really good Cls in which to base yourself. Perfect Location In Rural Setting Of Cotswolds and Bibury

Directions were perfect and found site without any problem. On arrival met by owners who were extremely helpful with information about site, COVID requirements and local area. Site is flat and pitches are spacious and with good hard standing. Site has water, electric hook up 16A and there is a grey water and brown water disposal. Village of Bibury is wonderful and visited the trout farm and sampled the wears. Worth a visit. The better pub in the village is the Catherine Wheel where the beer is good, welcome great and food plentiful. Service in other hotel / bar somewhat lacking. Site has great walks and is situated in beautiful countryside. Only downfall we felt was the farm / machinery repair centre next door that did wake up up with loud hammering at 7.30 one morning but overall not an issue. Excellent, secure gated site with CCTV, lots of information, and in a great location and we would easily return again if in this area.

Excellent Site Located In Picturesque Cotswolds

The site was easily located and accessible with a warm and friendly welcome on arrival. Owners provided lots of information on the local area including walks, places to visit and more scenic walks to the village. Site was excellently maintained, secure with gated entrance and CCTV. Pitches were excellent and supported both caravans and Motorhomes. Local village bibury was a real gem with lovely walks, trout farm (must to visit and sample the trout). Recommend the Catherine Wheel pub and food was excellent and welcoming. Would stay here again without hesitation.

Cotswold Gem

We needed a local site to try out our new caravan and this site being 25 minutes down the road fitted the bill perfectly. Very easy to book a pitch online via the sites website. Paid by BACS before arrival. Clear notice on the noticeboard along the driveway advising which pitch you are on. We were warmly greeted by Julie within minutes of pulling in and then given time to pitch up before she came back with some local information and explained where everything was. All pitches have EHU, water taps and grey waste can be piped into the hedge/field edge which makes them fully serviced. We were on pitch 5, which is the smallest of all in Orchard Lodge, but still plenty of room for our caravan with the car beside on the grass. If you had a big awning you may find that pitch a bit tight. It is also the only pitch that is directly opposite another, but this was no problem for us as the campervan opposite drove into pitch 4 so we weren't facing each other. We got on and off the pitch with a large twin axel caravan with no bother. Despite heavy rain and wind whilst there the hard standing drained well and the site was sheltered. There was some noise from the agri dealer next door but this was only for a short time in the morning on Saturday. Suspect it is busier during the week, but if you like to sit by the van and think this might bother you, you could book in to Orchard Lawn which is not as close to the yard. Site is clean and tidy and felt very secure being set back from the road behind a gate, with CCTV. Access to the site from the A419 was easy and the final bit down Hay Lane was no problem, with an easy entrance into the site. There are plenty of things to do in the area, both close and further afield. Peter popped by on our last day to say there was no need to rush to pack if we didn't want to as there was no one coming in after us. Which was a nice thoughtful touch. All in all a really lovely site that is a credit to Peter and Julie.

Excellent CL in beautiful location

Lovely flat site. Each pitch has electricand own water supply - great for motorhomes! Owner provided printed maps with a couple of local walks highlighted. A nice touch. Nice to have wi-fi access. Right on limit when in van, but enough for quick access to your email! TV reception good except for pitch nr1.
