Short Cotswolds' Stay

We are a family with two children and on a budget. CL sites in this area that allow children are few and far between and we are grateful that the owners allow children on their site. We stopped here for a few nights and the owner and his children were very welcoming. We enjoyed visiting the Gloucester and Warwickshire Heritage Railway, the National Trust's Snowshill Manor (we're members), the Cotswold Farm Park (use your voucher within the CC's Great Days Out Booklet), Bourton-on-the-Water (the kids enjoyed paddling in the river). All were within short distance of the site, and as a whole family we enjoyed our stay. We do agree that the floor of the shower room could have done with a clean, and we personally replenished the toilet roll, but as we also camp with the scouts, any proper toilet and shower is a luxury! As for value for money, CL's are great, you tell me where else a family of four could have a three night stay for £45.00 (that's £3.75 per person, per night)! If we come to the Cotswolds again, we would stay here.

Did we hit an unlucky patch?

Soon after we arrived for a 10-day stay, a departing caravanner remarked that the bathroom had not been cleaned at all during their 5-day stay. Then, after a couple of days, the toilet paper and liquid soap had run out, so I put a note in Mr Hammond's letterbox asking for the bathroom to be serviced, hoping of course that it would prompt him into having the room cleaned. However, although the toilet paper and soap were replenished, the room remained uncleaned for the rest of our stay.  I can't think what has gone wrong since other caravanners left reviews praising the bathroom's cleanliness.  We never even met Mrs Hammond; Mr Hammond was very pleasant when we did cross paths, but for £15 a night we do expect more than a site owner being too preoccupied with his horses to bother about his paying guests.

Good mostly

We stayed for a few nights recently. As you can see from my ratings we were happy with the site as a cl,however we felt that the price , £15, was not reflected in the cleanliness of the washroom and toilet. It was not obvious that they had been cleaned during our stay , otherwise o.k.
