Great peaceful CL

Lovely large hard standing pitches with plenty of room for awning. Easily accessible from the motorway. Pay on arrival via bank transfer. We stayed for 2 nights. Very peaceful and not far from amenities. Water, EHU, Elsan all present. Nice walks in the woods and local area.

Peaceful , tidy site

Easily reached from motorway, pay on arrival via bank transfer or cash in an envelope. Large pitches , very well kept. Lovely walk across the fields and just down the road from Pickmere Lake and The Red Lion Pub . Very peaceful just the sound of the birds. Stayed here 3 times now over the past couple of years and will definitely be back .

Great access to the Anderton Boat Lift

We stayed Gravestones for 3 nights in June 2022. The main attraction of the site for us was its closeness to the Anderton Boat Lift which is just over 4 miles away. Easily bikeable. As others have said, the site is well set up away from the farming operations [although you do pass through the farmyard to gain access] and is shielded by a large hedge. The outlook is over a large field which was ideal for dog walking. All the site services were within easy reach but you might need an extra length hose to connect to the water point if you are a motorhome & on pitches 1 & 5. The hardstandings are a bit narrow which will mean that any awnings will be on grass but was fine for us in a motorhome. The signage from the road is a bit confusing as all that is mentioned is the alpaca walks etc., so I did suggest to Stephen that it would be beneficial that the standard C & MC CL signage be placed in a prominent position. All in all a nice CL with lots of walking & biking opportunities. Current pricing of £17 per night was just about right.

Easy and peaceful getaway.

We store our van within 5 minutes drive from this lovely CL so it is a great last minute get away for us. The pitches are level and well maintained and the site is quiet with views over the field towards the glamping areas in the distance. A great site if you are travelling up the M6 and looking for a peaceful stopover not far from the Motorway (albeit with no noise whatsoever. Arley hall (NT Property) is 5 mins away with Northwich and Knutsford about 15 mins drive.

Lovely site in a lovely area

Our arrival was simple and the site is very conveniently situated on the farm, behind a large hedge with a pleasant vista in fron towards a plantation of trees. Mrs Wilkinson was very helpful when I asked for the loan of a torque wrench (I had left mine at home) and all admin was simply sorted out. The site is secluded and quiet, but for the overflight of aircraft from Manchester airport. However, the noise was occasional and we didn’t find it intrusive – not all takeoffs overfly the site and they are climbing steeply so have reached 6,000 feet following noise abatement procedures. We plan to stay again, perhaps to explore more of the surroundings, such as the canals. We enjoyed visiting Northwich but there is more to see.

Very pleasant stay

We stayed a long weekend and had a thoroughly good time. Its easy to find if you follow the alpaca sign and feels very safe and secluded Manchester airport departures are not a bother at all. Communications worked well for arrival. Info re telling the Wilkinsons you've arrived and paying is clear on a sign Was great for us with our sons in Manchester and parents in Llandudno - easy to access M56 and M6. Perfect spot if going to the Cheshire show today/tomorrow. Although we often have fully serviced pitches it wasn't much more effort to sort the water (from the single supply by Pitch 3) and wander around with the grey water container to water the boundaries.

Walking with Alpacas

We have just returned from a lovely few days on Gravestones. Weather its watching Airplanes, visiting Arley Hall and Gardens or walking with Alpacas this is a great little CL. There may be occasional noise from the Farm but this is to be expected from a working farm. The CL has an added bonus of Glamping Pods so if you wanted to have family weekend the option is available, but they are far enough away not to be a problem. At only 3 miles from the motorway, it is an ideal stopover. We have visited 3 times now and it won’t be the last.

Good but basic

We've just returned from a family wedding in Warrington where we stayed at Gravestones Farm for 4 nights. As noted in other reviews it is a typical working farm Certified Location - basic but perfectly adequate. The pitches do slope very slightly so a ramp or leveller would be recommended. They are also quite compact with only just enough width for the caravan but otherwise plenty of space to manoeuvre. The water point is usefully central to the pitches (between pitches 3 and 4). The Elsen point is extremely basic (a waste pipe concreted into the ground covered with a bin lid which is secured in place by a rock!) However, it is fit for purpose and has a hose close by to clean things down which is good. Gravestones is conveniently situated off the M6; it is about 2.5 miles from Junction 19 along country lanes and the instructions provided by the owner for accessing the site are clear and accurate. The lane to the site is narrow but has a number of passing places so not a worry. Payment can made via an envelope placed in the useful reception room or by Bank Transfer (details on board at entrance to the site). The reception room also helpfully includes information on local footpaths / walks which we made use of. As other reviews have noted the site is situated some 6 miles from the end of the Manchester Airport runway so inevitably there is some aircraft noise, however, it didn't bother us - we actually enjoyed using a Flight Tracking App to see where the flights were going / coming from! We would definitely use the site again in future especially as a stop-off point if travelling to other areas of the country.
