My wife and I have used this site for over 25 years. We only live in Scarborough but this is our sanctuary away from the hustle and bustle of a busy coastal resort.
The site is spacious with fantastic views across Harwood Dale and there's something for everyone here.
Plenty of room for children to play without disturbing your neighbours,
Walks in every direction from the site,
Bike rides from the site if you don't mind hills
A short car ride to Scarborough or Dalby Forest (walking and bike trails)
Slightly longer ride to Whitby, Robin Hoods Bay and Ravenscar,
Or if you just want peace and quiet--------- then this is the site for you.
Dave and Carol are very friendly and always willing to help if you need information. It's a working farm and you'll see Dave most mornings on some machine or other and for any town dwellers you might learn about what goes into farming. Children find watching animals being rounded up and penned for sorting quite fascinating.
The recent addition of 2 extra water taps has made life easier, not far to go for water wherever you are pitched.
The nearby Grainary which was a hotel with tea rooms has changed hands and is closed at the moment for refurbishment but it is hoped to be open in the Autumn with better facilities which will be an asset to the area. If you Google 'The Grainary' you will find a bit more information.
We've made many friends over the years on this site and can only suggest it's a site well worth trying to see if my review is a fair reflection of it.
Cheers Bondy
This is a little gem. We booked for 5 nights and ended up staying 10! There are beautiful views of the dale from all the pitches.
The only noise is from the cows munching or sheep baa-ing. It's a working farm so the farmer has to move about on quad bike to check the stock etc. but it 's not intrusive.
The 10a electric points are very well spaced which means there's plenty of space between pitches, with a number of water taps in between. The chemical disposal point is relatively new and at ground level but easy to use. The grass is well maintained and even though we had some very wet weather the slightly sloping ground was well drained.
Getting to the site is straight forward on minor roads. The short final approach is on a single track road but it only services two farms and a bungalow and has good visibility. There is another CL below the farm but not intrusive. On Google earth there is clearly a rally meeting inbetween the two CLs but no sign when we were there. There a good number of walks from the site.
The owners were busy but friendly. As the site is a little off the beaten track it appears to be used by adults mainly, but Scarborough is only 20 mins away. This is a smashing site worthy of a return visit.
great views for 360degs and so quiet and spacious we drive to the village and park our motorhome and get bus to Scarborough or Whitby they run every 20min or so. Site always clean and tidy owners not in your face but there if you need any help what more could you wish for we have been for the last 3 years and always enjoyed our stay
