Summer Holiday 2014

We booked only a week for 12/07/14 as we hadn't expected much in terms of location and weather.  We were pleasantly surprised by both.   The CL was easy enough to find following the directions in the book, although not sure if the SatNav would have given us problems coming from the South and wanting to cross country.   Very well maintained lawn inside a walled garden, which offers shelter and positioned to enjoy the sun.  The pitches are marked out by numbers on the wall, but not obvious on arrival and not obvious that the booking system is in the wooden info hut.  We were lucky enough to pitch on the one allocated to us. There is opportunity to pay for the pitch by putting money in the locked box, which we did.  We then asked to stay another night and the owner managed to catch us enabling us to pay for the additional night.  The owner then came back twice more asking if she'd already seen us, was feeling a little harassed at this point as though I hadn't paid.  It maybe wasn't the intention and perhaps a better system of marking who had paid and who hadn't would avoid this. We loved being able to walk around the estate with our 'nervous of roads' dog, as the owners encouraged visitors to go and explore.  There were other walled gardens to pop in and out of, although a little overgrown good enough for the dog to jump around in. The surrounding area is beautiful, dog-friendly beaches, plenty of places to visit.   There is a Sainsbury's on the outskirts of Nairn which was very convenient. Would recommend a visit to this site (my friends are returning end August having visited there last year)

Long weekend.

Lovely peaceful setting, good for visiting Nairn, Inverness and further afield. Owner made us very welcome and explained there was an. information box which we found very useful.  We hope to return soon for a longer stay so we can explore further.

So convenient...

..in a lovely walled garden, though that meant no views as such. But very convenient for exploring the area, not far from Nairn and its fantastic beaches, or Inverness for shopping. Our trip was to visit Fort George and was worth the journey just for that fantastic place, saw dolphins in the bay too. We had quite a bit of rain but still managed to get off site easily enough.

Spring Visit 2013

This CL is very convenient for visits to Cawder and Brodie Castles, Cullodon, & Fort George. For those who like walking there are a couple from the site and others in Culbin Forest, which also has tracks suitable for cycling. The site is basic with grass pitches but well sheltered in a walled garden. The grass is lawned but if wet could present difficulties for large motorhomes as it slopes away from the entrance. Inverness is about 15mls away and Forres (10mls) has a Tesco & Lidl for those needing supplies. The owners were very friendly and helpful, & they have eggs & sausages for sale. Will definitey use the site again.

Geddes House 2012

This is a pleasant CL on mowed grass in a walled garden, so it is quite well sheltered from the elements. There are walks direct from the site which is some 3 miles south of Nairn. Nairn has excellent beaches and there is plenty to see and do in the area, including dolphin-spotting on the Firth.
