Great place for a peaceful scenic holiday and security

We arrived at this lovely quite camp site situated on elevated ground look at mountain hills and the distant coastal village of Morfa Nefyn May 6th 2019. After the road off the A497 we turned past Mr Davies's Farm on left prior to entering the site which had a full bloom of blue bells on either side of the drive entrance. A small but very clean toilet block showers and laundry are available as required. The site was spotless with designated waste storage available. The sheep and spring lambs were plenty. The area of Morfa Nefyn has great opportunities for cycling walking relaxing beach pubs etc. The site is kept and managed by Mr Davies. One extra special thing I will mention is that while we were staying at the site I became seriously ill and without stating the details ended up in hospital for three days in Bangor hospital some distance away. I called the site owner and informed him of my problem and he visually ensured my motorhome security. The owner called me at the hospital to ask if we needed assistance in anyway to call him. When eventually we returned to the site to pack away and head home Mr Davies seeing my health problem assisted in safe storage of various camping items cables ramps etc. What a nice owner this site has Mr Davies I am very grateful to you and look forward to seeing you and your site again. Many Thanks P Jones

No negatives, and great for walking the Lleyn in Winter.

Alike the other reviewer here, I visited in January and took advantage of the tarmaccadamed area by the toilets. This put me a few steps away from the excellent shower and toilet facilities, whilst saving on the usual mud wallowing typical of a UK Winter. There is only room for one caravan here, but go low season and there is a reasonable chance of it being free. There are other pitches available on grass in the adjoining field, although no further hard standings. My aerial had packed in, and so the owner kindly let me borrow one he had conveniently stashed in the adjoining barn. The site is quiet, although the main Nefyn road is in sight and can be heard. There is a pub visible from the site about 3/4 mile walk away (safe walking too, I should guess.. although I never tested this). The coast walking locally is sublime, and indeed the entire Lleyn is accessible from this site (very little of it unattractive). A great central location for the entire peninsula.

so relaxed after our visit.

had a warm welcome on arrival, beautifully kept, lovely views, clean amenities. dogs welcome with due consideration to the livestock in the surrounding fields. only intended to stay two nights but we liked the tranquil surroundings and decided to stay another night. would definitely return, Nefin and Morfa Nefin are a short distance away and within walking distance for the hardy, but easily assessible by car. great base to explore the lleyn peninsula.

Wonderful site

One of the best CLs we have been to with a lovely welcome, great facilities and excellent countryside views. Set back a few miles inland it is a quiet and tranquil site - it is just what CLs were invented for!

Lovely even on a cold, rainy weekend!

We stayed on this CL during a wet and wintry weekend. Contact with the owner was very easy and she was welcoming on arrival at her farm. The CL is a short way further up the hill and down into a sloping field. However, due to the inclement weather, she recommended we park on the hardstanding next to the toilet and shower block (not as bad as it sounds!), which had electric hook up. We didn't use the toilets and showers but they were immaculately clean - 20p for 3 minutes for the shower. We were the only unit on site. It was a lovely spot, with a view over the Pen Llyn mountains, fields and the sea in the distance. The newly born lambs just across the road were a pleasure to watch as they gambolled around and we enjoyed a lovely (although wet) walk down some of the country lanes from the CL. There's a pub about half a mile away (we could see it from the pitch) and the sea at Porthdinnlaen is only a few minutes drive away - including the famous Ty Coch Inn, voted the third best beach bar in the world! It was very quiet and dark at night, we watched the starlings come in to roost at dusk and listened to owls and sheep. I would imagine it's a great star viewing spot, with little artificial light. This is a great CL for exploring Pen Llyn and we would certainly return.

Excellent break

We spent a very pleasant 7 nights on this CL. The location is just right for exploring the Peninsula, Mr & Mrs Davies were very welcoming and even the weather was good. Out of season it was not too busy but I would think in the season it will be popular - there is a seasonal site below the toilet block. The facilities were very clean and the shower great - 20p for 3 minutes (we used 40p in fairness). Even the sheep were quiet so recommend this as a peaceful retreat.

Welsh Paradise below says it all , just perfect .

Just a perfect CL no complaints, we have been 3 times now and have enjoyed it so much we shall be back. Even with the long journey from our home in Lincolnshire it is well worth the trip. Many thanks for a perfect 18 day stay. The owners are so nice and make you feel at home. Facilities are excellent . Thanks for a great stay,

Welsh Paradise

We have been using this site for long weekends and main holidays for six years. Garreg Lwyd is our favourite part of Wales. We are not seasonal pitch users. We take the caravan to France every year but these facilities are better. We visit every few weeks with the dog , which we keep tethered or on a lead. The owners are extremely welcoming and friendly and we are on first name terms. The toilets and showers are spotlessly clean. There is a loo and shower for men and the same for women. We have never queued and that is saying something over six years. The shower is powerful and cheap at 20p one coin is ample but you can use more for longer. It is quiet, scenic and close to visit beaches like Nefyh, Morfa Nefyn, Aberdaron, Whistling Sands and many more. The views of the hills and the horizon to the sea are amazing. The price of £14 per pitch with EHU for 2 adults has remained the same price for the last 3 years and is money well spent. We use the site from February to November for long weekends and enjoy ourselves whatever the weather. We have had some fantastic weather even when the rest of the country was covered in snow. We have seen wild seals , wild dolphins , birds and of course sheep !. It is close to many beaches like the ones at Morfa Nefyn, Nefyn, Aberdaron and Whistling Sands. There are pubs like the Bryncannon 2 minutes drive away which serve food or the Ty Coch at the beach on Porthdinllean at Morfa Nefyn , restaurants and a well stocked Spar selling local produce in Nefyn . In other words it is the perfect place to stay to explore the Lleyn Peninsula.

NOT a typical CL site!

We have been using CL sites for 2 years now as we love the idea of sharing a field with up to 5 caravans. I don't quite understand the set up of this site as we were allocated a pitch on a fairly small, sloping field which had 6 caravans (including us) and a large tent? This resulted in us being pitched very close together. The farm also has a 'proper touring field', which is larger and flatter and charged at the same rate as the CL site! (£15 for 3+ people which we were not told at the time of booking!). There is 1 toilet and 1 shower for men and the same for women, so expect to queue if you want to use this facility. The shower is chargeable 20p for 3 mins or 40p for 6 - my advice would be to take the 40p option as the shower can take around a minute to regulate the temperature. Would I return ... No! Would I recommend ... No!

Quiet site

Being relatively new members this was our first experience of a CL that is colocated with seasonal pitches, so the sight of far more than 5 units was initially off-putting.  The facilities were therefore shared by more than just CL users, though in fairness this is stated in the details - we hadn't realised the implications of this.  Nevertheless it was a quiet site, well maintained and handy for Morfa Nefyn.  Happy to recommend.
