Very compact but well kept site, very near beach and views over bay

The site is very well kept, being almost part of the owners' garden, but it is also very compact, with one pitch across what it is in effect the site entrance. There is an extra pitch on a separate area (which one hopes is not used to accommodate a sixth caravan). The pitches are unusual in having hard standing next to them formed of close fitting concrete slabs which make it very difficult to pitch a porch awning. There are a number of extra charges for visitors and cars, which are understandable given the small size of the site. The facilities are well kept, though toilet emptying is not easy, being on a raised plinth, and the rinsing tap from a storage tank is difficult operate - I had to use our own water bottle to clean the toilet out. The site owners were friendly and welcoming. The location is very pleasant, just a short walk from the beach overlooking Morecambe Bay, with stunning sunsets during a very warm and sunny week. Our reason for staying here was to walk the Lancaster Canal, which runs through Bolton le Sands, and we had two very enjoyable walks, one up to Tewitfield terminus, the other into Lancaster, on both occasions returning by bus which stops in Bolton le Sands. For local shopping there is a very new well supplied Coop. We were aware of the noise from the main line railway, including at night, but didn't find it too disturbing.

Peaceful well kept small CL

Just had a week at this terrific peaceful, well kept CL in Bolton-le-sands called Freshfields. Thank you David Wraith for the recommendation. Owners Janet and Brian could not have been more helpful and informative. Yes it is a little hairy on the road to the site and yes there is no toilet or shower but that did not matter. Weather was excellent which obviously helped. Would definitely stay there again but not a bank holiday next time.

Excellent choice for Morecambe Bay

Excellent site, great location for us to explore Morecambe Bay. Clean, well kept. Having seen other options in the area would definately reccomend. No sea view but Shore footpath very close. We are cyclists so made the best of Bay Cycle Route & canal tow path to Lancaster. Also walked the Shore in both directions, an adventure. Glad we visited Morecambe for the obligatory photo opportunity !! We had the best fish & chips for a long time at Bay Cafe. Also had coffee at the local Garden Centre near site and 15 minute walk from site a fabulous meal at the canal side pub The Royal - labelled as in The Roval on map issued from the site, lication also askew but Google put us right.

Friendly site convenient for Heysham ferry

Stayed one night in April on route to Isle of Man via Heysham ferry. Friendly welcome from the owner, level well kept site, like staying on the lawn! With concrete slab strips if its a bit damp. 2 minute walk from the coastline with lovely sunset over the bay. Less than half hour cycle into Morecambe. Not far from local shops and eateries if you require. Would stay again if in the area.

Lovely tidy site

We stayed at this site on 4/5 July to visit Morecambe and Carnforth. It is quite easy to locate - we used the Sat Nav and it took us directly to the site. The approach road is single lane really but there are many passing bays so it was very easy to access. We drove straight into the site - we tow a small car behind our motorhome and were able to stay connected right into the site. The pitches are well spaced and nice and level. We were made very welcome and offered local information leaftlets. You could stroll down to the sea if you exit the site and turn right. There is a cafe there I believe. We would definitely recommend this site - word of warning though for light sleepers - there is a railway line fairly close by and you can hear the trains whizzing past. Didn't bother us at all and they didn't run all night. Just thought it worth a mention. For film enthusiasts - visit nearby Carnforth Station where they filmed some of Brief Encounter. Very nostalgic. Visit the Midland Hotel in Morecambe for a treat. It is a lovely surprise from the past.............great food too.

Clean and tidy compact site

A clean and tidy site, very pretty, lovely couple very friendly helpful and informative on arrival. Lots to do in the area, close to all places of interest and shopping facilities(Tesco and Aldi in Carnforth, just down road). Will definately be back in the future.

Enjoyable week, stayed another week!

Would like to give 5 stars but site is compact and the hedges which shelter from onshore winds are encroaching on some pitches. Site is well kept and owners friendly and welcoming. Access lane is narrow but quiet, just be careful of ditches at side of road if required to pull in. Area is lovely and rural, views across to Lake District from end of lane. Site itself has no views but is pleasant clean and tidy and pitches are well arranged. Some noise from railway across the fields depending on wind direction but didn't trouble us. Brought bikes with us and cycled along Morecambe front to Heysham, into Lancaster along the canal (which is not far from site) out to Glasson Dock and out to Sanderson Point, plus lots of other easy routes. Weather was hot and sunny in September so we had a fabulous time, booked for one week and managed to stay for a further week. Would love to stay again even if weather not so good.

A lovely site

The site is situated in an area surrounded by farmland down a narrow lane with passing places. Access through the entrance is easy and on arrival; if the owner is not about the pitch that you are allocated is marked on a board at the side of the house. The site is compact with part hard standing with flagstones for parking the caravan wheels and a small flagstone patio area, ideal if you have an awning. The fresh water and waste recycling area is close with the waste water and elsan placed away from the pitches behind a building. This unfortunately is my main issue with this site as the grey water waste/elsan emptying point is at a height of about 2 feet off the ground making it particularly difficult to lift a full wastemaster to empty it, particularly if, like me you suffer from health problems. The height is ideal for emptying the elsan tank though.  Despite this, it is a lovely and compact site.  There are numerous supermarkets within a five mile drive and access to the site is off the main road from Carnforth to Morecambe with lots to see and do in the area.
