Well worth the wait

We've been trying to visit Forge Meadow CL for a couple of years now but it has always been full. This time I booked on 3 Jan for the bank holiday week. I can quite see why it is so popular. It's an absolutely lovely, well maintained site (with regularly mown grass - Mel and Paul are caravanners themselves). Lovely outlook and so peaceful (the loud birds, it transpired, are Guinea fowl!). A really good information room and well though out waste, water and rubbish facilities - the latter emptied daily unlike some places we have been. Certainly the best CL we have stayed on. It is easy to access although I think some satnavs struggle a bit - our wanted us to go down a private road but just follow the directions and you will be fine. Mel and Paul are extremely helpful and kind. We had a 'water issue' when we arrived (as in it was pouring out from under the sink). We were offered tools, a lift to the local dealer and even a pizza from Mel's freezer. Just to note that, although it is a long drive to Maidstone, the staff at Lee Davey caravan dealership are incredibly helpful and, hurrah, we managed to fix the problem. There is a great deal to do in the local area. If you have a dog, the huge field attached to the site is brilliant for a good walk. All they ask is that you clear up after Rover and quite right too. Lots of footpaths, the beaches are quite close, fresh fish to buy in Rye, plenty of places to visit. And that's if you can tear yourself away from sitting outside the van enjoying the peace. We thought the burger and pie place at the top of the road was a bit pretentious and the beer was expensive, but there are loads of lovely pubs in the area. We had a fantastic stay and really will be back.

Rural location with lots of places of interest within a short distance

We stayed here for a week during August. Being Adults Only we weren't affected by it being school holidays. Very friendly helpful owners, easy to find, and large area for the caravans with identified pitches which works well with plenty of space between each for privacy. The facilities are excellent and there is a small cabin with masses of information on the local area. We shall return if we are in that area again.

Lovely peaceful site

Stayed on this CL for four nights and loved it. Friendly owners made us feel very welcome when we arrived and found pitch to be fairly level. The scenery was fantastic and we enjoyed walking through the nearby fields. The area ideal for visiting Rye and the nearby market town of Tenterden. The Steam railway is a must to visit. Will definitely go back to this CL.

Beautiful setting with first class hosts

This was a two night weekend break in our motorhome. The site was very easy to find and was set in the most beautiful spot. The pitch areas were immaculate and during our brief stay the grass was being cut and collected with minimum fuss by Mel. Paul collected the recycling and contents of other bins daily and the cleanliness could not be faulted. What a lovely helpful couple. If you are a dog walker, the site is perfect. Dogs on leads on site but literally at the end of the pitch area is an enormous field with a lovely pathway circumnavigating it cut through the long but lovely grass. Our Lab loved it. There are numerous public footpaths leading from the site. We chose one, across the 'dog field', through a field of barley and eventually to the village, popping out in sight of the pub where we enjoyed a lovely lunch meeting very friendly locals. This site is a must and we will return.

Very quiet and pleasant site. Private.

We are new to motor homing, so bit nervous about this sites we normally pick bigger ones. But was lovely, lots of space between pitches for privacy. lots of lanes for cycling. Nice pub (Gourmet burger bar) nearby with good ales. Welcoming and helpful hosts.Tourist info in hut on site. Chemical waste point and water. No toilet block but OK for two nights. Would definitely go again. June 2017. Mrs J

very good host's

we had an amazing week at this site, visiting places nearby, the Host's couldn't have been more helpful if they tried, we had lost a handle to our water tank en route and blown a fuse, they managed to sort both things for us. would recommend this site to anyone

One of our favourite CL s

Recently returned to this CL after a period of about two years. It was early May and their first full week open due to the bad weather. It was every bit as good as we remembered it and Mel and Paul couldn't have been more welcoming. We had a full week there and had no trouble at all in finding plenty to do in the local area and to enjoy the peace and quiet of the CL. Lots of lovely local walks close to hand.Unfortunately I have been unwell since our return so did not get around to doing this review but it is great to see that others feel the wat my wife and I do about this lovely CL. Look forward to returning. Thanks Mel and Paul

Don't tell!

Bags of room, peace and quiet, places to visit, lovely walks along footpaths from the site, foody pub and well stocked shop within walking distance, lovely owners who really look after their site what more could you want?  Forge Meadow is a gem but don't tell anyone you might not be able to get in!

Our first CL

After 30 years of touring this was our first CL site and what a find it was! Lovely site and very friendly people. Lots of space on pitches, lovely walks for our dog. Beautiful place to sit and watch the sun go down.
