This site has a peaceful ambience and is in its own large open and secluded valley beyond a well kept farm and is surrounded by pasture and more distant woodland.  The generous pitches are along the edge of a spacious oblong field running up the valley away from the farm, with a hedge and track running behind the pitches.  There are walks from the site up tracks and across fields and into the woods and beyond.  The farm animals which include sheep (lambs at Easter), cattle, horses, a donkey, lama and alpaca are part of the attraction.  We had wet weather but the grass was well drained.  If you are looking for fault, it is the volume of traffic on the A357 which is 3-500 yards away and is just visible beyond the farm buildings which are 2-400 yards away.  On the other side of the A357 and set back from it is a disused railway track that is used as a walking and cycle way between Blandford Forum and Sturminster Newton.  Access to it from the site is a little convoluted, as it is not safe to walk along the Road, and this adds distance to the route in either direction.  The countryside and small villages around the Stour Valley are attractive and there are plenty of places further afield to walk from and visit by car.  The farmer and his wife were very helpful and friendly.  We only spent 4 nights at the site but we hope to visit again and would definitely recommend it to others.
