Lovely location

Very well maintained site with adequate dog walk adjacent to the site lovely views from the caravan we even liked watching the trains going to and fro from north Berwick to Edinburgh The only negatives were was the traffic noise would not have believed a 'b' road could be so busy so not a site for light sleepers also the water pressure extremely poor. It is a working farm but the electric fencing protecting the very rare breed of sheep does mean you need to take great care walking round the dog walk The owners are lovely very welcoming and helpful and have even provided a lovely little summer house at the top of a wood for the use of all staying at the site We would definitely go back

A clean and tidy CL

Stayed for 4 nights in August.  Everything as it should be for a popular CL.  We used this as a base for visiting Edinburgh and the surrounding area of East Lothian.  Recommend using Park & Ride if contemplating going into Edinburgh city; just £1.60 per adult each way.  City centre parking very costly and traffic is a nightmare. Site has Wi-Fi but costs £1.50 per day, on top of the £15 p.n. One down side was the traffic noise each morning and evening, being as the site and pitches back onto the adjacent road.  Just a hedge to separate the two.

A Well Kept CL

We stayed at East Fortune Farm CL for a week in June 2016.  It is vey well kept CL with a useful information hut and we received a warm welcome from Jane.  Others have mentioned the noise from the nearby road, it was noticeable but after a couple of days we became accustomed to it.  It is not a busy road so it was not an issue for us.  There is a good dog walk on the farm and plenty to do locally.  A trip to Preston Mill at East Linton is recommended, whilst in the village it is worth visiting the butcher they do excellent pies and good quality meat.  We are keen walkers and there is no shortage of good walking in the area.  You can see the places we visited and our walks on our blog www.twodogsandanawning.co.uk

Four seasons in one day!

Just back from three nights on this site.  Weather was unbelievable - snow, sun, hail and rain in the space of a few hours.  Site very well kept, hard standings for each pitch but well spaced out. Owners very friendly without being pushy.  Views across farmland really nice, lots of beaches within very easy reach.  We liked it and would cheerfully go back. Negatives:  For us nothing really.  There is a road the other side of the hedge from each hardstanding and if you want real quiet then you might find the road noise a problem but it certainly did not bother us as it was very intermittent.  If you have a really big outfit and it was really wet then there is a small slope to the top most pitches which might I suppose be a problem but minor stuff really!

Beautifully Organised - but not my cup of tea.

From the minute you arrive at East Fortune you will be impressed by the attention to detail. The sweep into the CL allows you to get you rig off the approach road through a wide gateway with no complications. The manicured grass of the site is punctuated by surgically prepared squares of hard standing. The water point is at the top of a gently sloping site - so no lugging heavy aquarolls uphill. And the toilet disposal is at the bottom of the slope  . . . so the trip to the sluice is gravity assisted. Luxury. Each of these service points is mounted on a decked apron and there are helpful ramps to assist access. You want more?  OK there is a helpful hut with tourist information, WiFi (£)  a "free to loan"  barbeque and a little library. If you have a dog (and its not compulsory you know) there are neatly mown paths along which to walk it. There are event poo disposal points… so why don't all dog owners use them? The view from the site (August ’15) is across fields of barley towards a rail line along which incredibly quiet trains whisper past. Its nice to reflect that your next nip of scotch or pint of ale is on its way courtesy of this hard-working family. In addition to all of the above the DAB radio signal was superb and, although I don't have one, the sounds of TV from adjacent 'vans suggests there were no problems here. O2 ’phone signal is patchy.... always good enough for SMS, pretty consistent for calls but very sluggish with data. The 3 network, on the other hand, was consistently good. I could go on… I particularly like the reassuring “CL” signposts at the along the lat 500m of the route. So… is this the perfect CL?  Actually… no.  Its very good but it tries a bit too hard to be like a miniature Caravan Club Site.  The hard-standing patches are too close together and with 5 vans, 5 cars and 5 awnings it looks and feels a bit cramped.  I found myself trying to wash up quietly for fear of disturbing the neighbours.  Each of the pitches backs onto a dead straight road (5m distant) which is pretty noisy in the morning during the school/work run. So, how do you get the benefit of all this attention to detail without noise from the road and the prescriptive parking rules?  Well…… the Brands run another caravan site on their estate with grass (my preference) as well as hard-standing pitches.  This is less cramped, just as well equipped, much further from the road and the same price.  No brainer. I hope the Brands will let me come again next year.  The area is beautiful, access to Edinburgh is easy, North Berwick is a gem.  But I'll book at the non-members site please.

Just what the Doctor Ordered.

We have just returned from a splendid weekend. We were exceptionally lucky with the weather. Thoroughly enjoyed visiting local towns & beaches. We received a lovely welcome.  The owners could not have been more helpful. We didn't want to go home.  Hopefully we'll be back soon x

A Gem

We spent four nights at this site. The site is extremely well organised with all pitches being hard standing and well laid out water and waste sites and even an information hut. On our arrival we were met and welcomed by the owner. There is a lovely walk that is clearly marked around the farm and you are able to see sheep, pigs and chickens and spot buzzards. There are great places to visit near by and Edinburgh is just a short train or bus journey away. If you visit in August do go to North Berwick to take a boat trip to Bass Rock to see the largest colony of gannets in the world - a bit smelly but an amazing sight and experience. There is a flight museum close by and lots of historical sites and buildings to visit. Yes the road is a bit noisy but it honestly didn't bother us.

Farm site

Just back from our first nights stay in a CL site. Lovely site well maintained, pitches all hard standing and flat. We where the only van on the CL site. Jane the owner came over once we had time to set up. We had lovely stay, great for dog walking and a wee hut hidden in a small forest which would be great for a picnic. Will be back again.

great CL

we booked the CL but was put in station park on hard standing which was great as I think the CL was closed due to being boggy because of recent heavy rain. Jane met us and is really friendly. shed with plenty of information, great recycling facilities with the best waste disposal points I've seen, great for dog owners as a couple of walks around the farm. main train line behind us but didn't find it a problem. market on airfield on sundays with in half a mile. great site and would certainly stay again if I was in the area
