What a Gem!

I'm not sure what more I can add to the previous reviews. All 5 pitches are hardstanding and reasonably level, each has 16amp hook up, its own water supply and grey waste point. And there's good wifi at just £1 a night. The 1 acre site is very gently sloping offering views over Pendle Hill. Ideal if you want peace and quiet being an adult only site. The pitches are generously spaced around a central green which is well maintained. Ann, the owner is lovely and friendly and happy to chat or help out where she can. There is only one shower which is kept very clean. There is recycling on site. Chemical waste point is just a short distance from all the pitches. This is way above the standard one would expect of a CL. The village of West Bradford is very picuresque and you could be mistaken for thinking you were in Devon or Cornwall. Some of the roads are narrow and twisting but easily navigable with a little care. The area offers so much to do and see. We can't wait to go back!

Peaceful Oasis

Stayed here for a week starting 12th July, and found it extremely peaceful. Just the spot to wind down and chill out. Thanks Ann. Everything lived up to our expectations, hope to be back next year.

Huge thank you.

Arrived on the 17th May for 7 nights, Ann was very welcoming and friendly and soon gave us the run down and where our pitch was.  We had spoken to Ann prior to our booking and explained that we had an 8 month lab puppy that was just getting used to caravanning so she thought pitch 5 would be good as it was in the corner and gave our Lab a bit more space to adjust, thank you Ann it worked well.  Very peaceful site, lovely views, quiet and tranquil.  The reason we booked this site was mainly that we did not have to drive off site to exercise our dogs, there are so many walks from the site into a beautiful landscape.  The shower and toilet block was very clean and full of information of local and surrounding tourist information. We were very much in need of a complete break and we certainly got it here.  Ann is lovely to chat too and we have told our friends all about this excellent site. Make sure you follow Ann's directions as they are very precise. Thank you again Ann.

Peaceful, relaxing with stunning views of Pendle Hill

Spent 4 nights at this lovely site on a farm in April. Ann Chippendale could not have been more helpful and welcoming. Site has excellent wifi at £1 a day. There is a toilet, shower and wash basin which are kept meticulously clean. Lots of tourist information on site. If you are looking for a total chill out in beautiful countryside the look no further. Lots to do in the surrounding area, walking, cycling, eating, shopping in beautiful Clitheroe. Would suggest approach via Waddington is easier because the bridge over the Ribble is wider than towards West Bradford, but Ann's directions are very precise.

We'll be back

We have stayed at quite a few CC sites over the last few years but this was the first time we had tried a CL.  It certainly won't be the last as we had a wonderful two weeks at this site.  It was also our first time in this area and we were amazed at all the wonderful scenery and places to visit.  There are footpaths direct from the site and we had some really great walks.  The nearby village of Waddington is very pretty and has three very good pubs which all serve food.  Also great cafes at nearby Whalley.  Beautiful drives through Forest of Bowland and even Skipton is not too far away.  The site has a shower and toilet both of which were kept very clean.  Each pitch has it's own water supply and drain so this does make life a lot easier.  Ann was there to welcome us and show us our pitch and always seemed to be around if you needed anything.  Hope I haven't made this sound so good that we can't get booked next time we want to visit.

Lovely site in a stunning area

Visited this site for four nights at Easter and were lucky to have some very fine weather and see the local area at it's best. The site is very well maintained and the friendly and helpful owner Ann is always on hand and passes on useful information about the local area and activities, of which there are many. We also suspect that Ann was behind the surprise "Easter Bunny" gifts left outside all the visitors caravans on the Sunday morning, but she of course denied it! A lovely gesture, thanks! We enjoyed a fine circular walk along the River Ribble and cycled in the Gisburn Forrest around one of the fabulous purpose built tracks (different levels for all ages and capabilities). We also had a great meal just down the road at the 3 Millstones in West Bradford village, heartily recommended. Some of the surrounding villages have to be amongst the prettiest in England and all have at least one hostelry serving fine ales and excellent food. Clitheroe is well worth a visit, especially on market day, when the superb Ribble Valley and Bowland local produce is on offer. This is starting to sound like an advertisement, so I'll sign off, but we will definitely be visiting again. See you soon!

Peaceful site in a beautiful area

We stayed 3 nights at the end of March 2014 and had a lovely weekend and the weather was beautiful which was a bonus.  Ann, the site owner, was very welcoming and took time to chat to us over the weekend, even when she had family, plus grandchildren, over for Mother's Day.  There were new born lambs in the field in front of the site.  The pitches are very generous with fresh water and electric hook-up on each pitch.  The Ribble Valley was a real surprise and reminded us of the Yorkshire Dales (we are from Yorkshire).  There are some stunning villages in the vicinity with lovely pubs and eating places. We ate at the Assheton Arms in Downham which has fabulous seafood dishes. Another lovely trip is over the Forest of Bowland to Morecambe where we had lunch at The Midland Hotel.  You can walk for miles along the sea front and no noisy amusement arcades.  So, all in all, a great site tucked away and peaceful with easy access to beautiful places. (Don't forget to visit the Sausage Shop in Clitheroe - sausages in every flavour).

First Visit

This was our first visit here. The site is very quiet and relaxed, nothing was too much trouble for Ann. Each pitch has electric hook up as you would expect, but also has water at each pitch, this was new for us and it was really great. You get a good TV signal, and WiFi is available at a cost, but 3G was on available so no need for WiFi really. The lane up to the site is a bit narrow, but easily passable. We ate at the Lower Buck in Waddington, really lovely food and the dog was allowed in as well!!

Peaceful, scenic spot - ideal for walkers

This is a really lovely spot, with panoramic views across towards Pendle Hill and Clitheroe. (A pity about the cement factory, although watching the plume of steam rising from the chimney was quite soporific!) The CL is rather pricey, but you do get water on each of the five hardstanding pitches, WiFi available for £1 a night, and a decent toilet/shower block with an excellent selection of leaflets available. Ann is very welcoming and helpful, and calls round every day to check that things are OK. There are walks right from the doorstep, and I would recommend going up to Bradford fell and across to lovely Grindleton village with its two pubs - the Buck is very welcoming to walkers with muddy boots! Do however avoid the back path down to West Bradford through the woods. It's not been maintained for years, and several bridges across the stream are completely missing, making it virtually impassable. Like many paths in the area it's not adequately waymarked either. I'd recommend taking a GPS if you are planning to walk round here, as it's often far from obvious where the path goes.

Another Lovely Stay

This in our view, is the best CL we have found. Ann is a special person who cannot be more helpful and interesting without being in anyway intrusive. The site is very spacious and well laid out . At £15 per night for fully serviced pitches, with some of the best views in Lancashire, its a peaceful retreat in great walking country. Email Ann is best, as voice messages sometimes mix up dates etc !
