We had booked in for 3 nights, never having been to Shropshire before. The site is in the most wonderful setting,so peaceful and quiet and immediately adjacent to the Old Racecourse, and several Shropshire walking paths, including Offa's Dyke.Unlimited walking if you have a four legged with you.The owners were out when we arrived but had even left a note on the gate for us. We decided to stay an extra night - no problem at all and we have already booked to return in June. If you want tranquillity and are wanting to be close enough for a meander into Wales this site is a must.
A very nice quiet site, we had a very relaxing weekend, views from this site were lovely. We walked the old race course, which is next to the site. we had nice dry weather so this made being high on top of a hill quite breathtaking. Will come back again.
This is an amazing CL high up above Oswestry with extensive views towards Shrewsbury 20 miles away. It’s an impressive view day or night. Despite the elevated position, the wind isn’t a problem. The CL is on the edge of the old racecourse, an area of common land that was used for horse racing 200 years ago. You don’t expect to find a racecourse on the top of a hill. Offa’s Dyke long distance path goes through the racecourse (only 75 yards from the CL entrance). I recommend walking along it 2.5 miles to the Barley Mow Inn in Trefonen for a pint of The Grim Reaper (aka the Trefonen Guinness) brewed in the micro brewery attached.
