There are two sites here, DogHouse is the CC site and is over the hedge from Broadlands.  Due to the CDP being in Broadlands and us having on board tanks, the owner suggested we stayed on Broadlands.  Both are basically the same, there are two fields identical.  The difference is Broadlands is closer to the A35 slightly, but doesn't have the advantage of the hedge to protect it from the road noise or being visible from the road.  Given the choice I would prefer to have been on Dog House.  There are grass pitches but a hard standing area at the entrance to the field which is what everyone was using, as it was winter.  The views of the surrounding countryside are beautiful, but you can't see the sea!  it is only a short ten minute walk to the beach which has a lovely pub right by it.  Don't drive though as you have to pay for parking!  There are some lovely coastal path walks around, although rather muddy this time of year.  The surrounding beaches are all lovely pebbles.  Keep an eye out for fossils too!  We met some lovely people on the site and in the local area.  There are some good shops and farm shops near by.  Turn left on the A35 and a little way out of Chideock is the nearest farm shop.  Also a small shop in Chideock.  Bridport had a morrisons and waitrose as well as butchers.  Its a fairly good sized town.  We went to the Donkey sanctuary which is dog friendly, a lovely place to spend the day.  The farm track running past the sites can be fairly busy with general and farm traffic.  Some are quite large lorries and tractors and do not obey the 5mph speed limit at all, so be careful with little ones.  Overall a lovely site, but I'd chose dog house over broad lands purely to try to minimise the road noise and not be visible from the road.  No sign of owners, but more than happy to take in a package for us as we needed to do some emergency maintenance as something broke on the way down!  Got the balance just right, not in your face, but there if you needed them, so don't expect a welcome party!
