A Hidden Gem. Thoroughly recommended!

We were so lucky to discover this CL and will definitely be back. Possibly the warmest welcome we've ever experienced, this site has large level pitches with lush, well mown grass. It is a tranquil spot and the birds seemed to be singing their hearts out most of the time we were there. Access to the site is snug. Read some of the other reviews for details. We have an 8ft wide caravan and took it steady, with no problems. We took advantage of the footpath/bridleway next to the site to give us access to a circular walk which was very picturesque. Lots of other things to visit nearby, or do what we did and just chillax on site!!

Campervan Visit March 2018

Well laid out site with firm grass pitches despite the time of year. Plentiful electricity and water supply points. All pitches are large with open views of the countryside. Easy access to footpaths to RSPB HQ and Sandy. A number of long-stayers on site and only managed to catch up briefly with pleasant Owners as they had been away on holiday themselves.

Great CL with lots to do on the doorstep

Access to this site is easy enough, although I'd advise stopping and engaging first gear before making the final right turn onto the site as the drive is a bit steep. The site itself is well laid out, nice short grass and the pitches pretty level. The pitches are well spaced and generously ized with easy access to EHU and water points. The tipping point is hidded behind a fence and is easy to use. The site is very peaceful and in open countryside with good views and walking available from the site. We visited Wimpole Hall (national trust, 20mins drive) which is well worth a visit and a very full day out with hall, gardens, farm and estate walks and the RSPB HQ which is just a mile down the road with nice walks around the reserve, with plenty to see. The CL owner was very pleasant and all in all this is a really good CL that I will happily visit again.

An excellent CL

A spacious, level site broken up with mature trees and shrubs. Really well maintained with several water points scattered around so never far to haul a barrel. Bring your own toilet and shower but the chemical loo emptying point is good enough to shame some large sites. Very quiet with open views. Friendly and helpful owner on site. Ten amp mains supply is ample for most. All round an excellent CL and we will be here again. One warning, the Brown Sign to the Water Gardens mentioned in the directions in the 2017 sites book is no longer there! Follow the instructions in the book but look for a cross roads sign with a no-through-road turn and and old railway signal on the turn, you are there.

Great site

We are currently visiting for the third time - the site is conveniently close to family. The large site is at the top of a small hill on flat ground, and is approached past the owners' bungalow. The approach road past the bungalow is fairly steep, and we keep going until we have reached the field behind, for fear that stopping we might not easily get going again. The field is kept well mown, and the pitches are widely spaced with electric hook up points and water taps. A track leads around a tree from the approach road, so access is straightforward. The owners have taken trouble to ensure that this field is welcoming, with trees and shrubs providing some screening between pitches. There are facilities for rubbish and recycling, and the chemical toilet disposal point is first class! The field used to be used to grow strawberries, but other than a large vegetable patch, it is no longer farmed. Cambridge is not far away, the RSPB headquarters are on the road leading to the site from Sandy, and the village of Potton has all kinds of facilities. You don't need a TV aerial, as a wet stick would do.

Recommended site

Lovely well kept spacious and quiet site at the rear of the owner's house with views over surrounding countryside and walks directly from the site via a gate onto the footpath. Friendly, helpful owners. Very close to the TV mast so no problems with reception. The RSPB site is about a mile down the road. We stayed here twice - once when we came to view a motorhome at nearby Bedfordshire Cars & Caravans and the second time when we came to pick up our purchase and tried it out overnight. Sandy is within easy reach and has a variety of shops, banks, takeaways, etc. We did not venture as far as Potton as we only stayed one night on each occasion. Recommended.

One of the Best

We had a great stay at this CL so much to explore. The night before our departure we had a problem with the electrics in the van. Derek and Faye rang all the technicians they had listed and finally managed to have someone come out at 9.00pm. The technician called back the following morning with a new circuit breaker and charger, and with everything up and running again continued our holliday. Thanks again to Derek and Faye and not forgetting the Makem

Good Site

Picked this site for the Green Sand Ridge walk which was great and not too muddy considering the amount of rain we have had. Although no hard standings the ground was well drained. Very well spaced out pitches and lovely tidy site with great views over to Potton windmill which no longer has any sails. Sutton is very pretty with a great 13/14 century bridge which crosses the small village ford.

Busy campsite

Can only endorse the other reviews with a great location lovely walks both through woods towards Sandy and around fields towards Potton site was well kept but during our stay we had 3 permanent residents and one long term unit so we definitely had more than 5 units on site and there where problems with the electricity trip switches with units loosing electricity from time to time.
