Fabulous site with great hosts

Have just spent four nights on this great CL site, with lambs to watch frolicking in the evening a bonus! Loved the views, the spacious pitches, and easy access to many walks with the dog from the site, and around Dornoch. We enjoyed walking the various forest walks from the site and finding out about the roundhouses, and also taking either the forest or beach walk into Dornoch. Further afield we walked up Dounie Hill and will be back another time for Struie. Had a great meal in the Coach House, and enjoyed the friendly welcome in Cocoa for ourselves and our dog. Delicious Gluten Free White Chocolate and Raspberry Cake in Cocoa, with good coffee. Fabulous views, and apart from a windy and wet 24 hours, had lovely weather. Well done Rob and Emma and we look forward to a return visit.

Stunning views

This is a fabulous cl, with the most stunning views. This is a working farm owned by a young friendly family. We stayed 4 nights, which enabled us to appreciate all the area had to offer. Dornoch was a short walk away, with independent shops and places to eat. We drove through Dornoch and parked close to the beach, which was breathtaking. We were lucky with the weather, but on the occasions when it did rain we were more than happy to sit and take in the view. We would highly recommend this cl, for more than a stopover as there is much to see and do in the area. Meandering Molly 26/07/22 Campervan

Dornoch Stay

Heading north this site is well situated off the main A9 just outside the town of Dornoch. Easy to find and on arrival I called Emma and was told to choose our own pitch. Site is spacious and level with grey waste at back of each pitch. No farm noise when we were there for two nights and sadly didn’t meet the owners who were busy but were quick to respond to a query via email during our stay. Dornoch, Tain and Golspie are all within striking distance as is Dunrobin Castle and all well worth a visit.

Wonderful base to tour

Ditto last review we were there similar time. Lovely couple taken over site making vast improvements since last year we were there. Access easy, pitches generous with electric and grey water at pitch. Working farm so expect a little machinery going about and there are free range eggs to buy. Not far from town itself with lovely shops, cafes and restaurants. Well worth a visit and Tain not to far away for petrol and supermarkets. Walks through wood easy to follow with bridle tracks.

A wonderful CL site with fantastic people running it!

We had a truly wonderful friendly greeting from Rob when we first arrived. Even though he was busy on the farm he took time out for us, as did Emma and nothing was too much trouble for them. There was plenty of space between the caravans, the dog had a brilliant time too with plenty of space to around in one of the fields and on the huge sandy beach, which was empty apart from us and the seagulls. We bought fresh eggs from them. The fishing there really made my grandson’s days and the trout tasted fantastic! 😋😋 We had a wonderful 10 days there & will DEFINITELY be back again next year but for longer. The food and warm welcome was repeated at the CoachHouse pub in Dornoch…also well worth a visit and was dog friendly. 🐶 It was a 689 mile journey for us. Was it worth it? Most definitely it was! 🥰

Peaceful with lovely views

Davochfin Farm CL, Dornoch IV25 3RW This review is based on my visit in early September 2020, I’m a single guy travelling with My cat(who stays in the caravan or a lead on the pitch being an Indoor cat), in a Adria Dart (8.3M single axle) caravan towed using a Hyundai Santa Fe. I stayed for 9 nights and could have stayed for many more, the entrance and main track thought site (up to water/CDP) are hardcore/ tarmac but the pitches themselves are grass, that being said it was a well drained and had no issues, even after prolonged rain it was only a little soft. The site has views of the sea (Dornoch Firth) from some pitches, the rest have views over countryside/ woods. The site is very quiet and peaceful the owner visits daily. The site is reasonably level. The site is easy to reach from the main road (A9) but follow the directions given in the book/ website though Dornoch, not direct from A9,as approaching the campsite lane from the other directions means that the turn in is difficult or impossible towing or with Motorhome. I chose to explore both locally and more widely but could have kept myself local if I had decided to. I found it an ideal location being close to the main A9. You can walk into Dornoch from the site it’s about 20 mins and a mile on a single track road. You can walk to the sea from the site in about 15 mins other than crossing a road it’s all off road. Dornoch had a Chinese take away which I found to be good. It does have a fish and chips/ Indian/ Pub but as I didn't use any of these I can't comment on them. There is a small grocery store there as well,Tain that is about 5 to 6 miles by car has Asda, Lidi and I think Tesco. Would definitely visit again if in the area, the £10 including EHU was amazing value but the owner did say next year he was intending to charge £15 with EHU and £10 without which I still think is good value.

Great CL on the NE Coast

Lovely CL just over a mile from Dornoch. Simple well drained grass site, very peaceful. Entertainment provided by the neighbouring cows and sheep. Easy access from the A9. Nice walk straight down past the driving range to the beach.

New phone number for site

New telephone number for the site is 07397862538 and the contact is James. Lovely level site, away from the road and very quiet. Triangle shape field all grass with electric hookup point. Close to the village of Dornoch which is historic and attractive. £10 a night including electric hookup Oct 2020.

Quiet & Peaceful

Spent a fortnight there recently. Quiet, peaceful site with lots to do in the surrounding area. Superb for dogs with the beach a few minutes away in one direction & several forest walks a few minutes away in an other. Overall given it 4 stars as the site, itself, is (IMO) in need a little TLC but nothing too drastic though.
