Fabulous stay

This is a lovely site - absolutely perfect for us, and one I'd like to return to. The site slopes slightly but the pitches are all level (if that makes sense?) and we didn't need to use blocks or anything. Shower and loo - both very clean. Nicest hosts. Two lovely farm dogs. A calf had literally just been born when we arrived - so lovely seeing him wobbling around as he couldn't get stand up properly. Although it's a working farm, it wasn't noisy (some CLs we've stayed on have been very noisy with machinery late at night and early mornings!) This one was very peaceful except for Fri and Sat nights when there was distant music coming from somewhere, but it didn't stop us sleeping. Loads to do in the area - we didn't even make it to Chester as we were busy doing other things! Loggerheads Country Park was a favourite place for us for dog walks and Wepre Park too. A hot tip I wish I'd known before we arrive - if you like planes, the Beluga XL frequently takes off and lands nearby. Check out the Facebook group Beluga XL Hawarden (CEG) - if you join, you can see the times of take offs and landings as they're posted each morning. There's a nice cafe at the airfield where on Mondays and Tuesdays you get a discount if you're in the facebook group. They do a good full English but you might need to book. Another hot tip - the famous Gladstone's Library is nearby which is a fabulous place to visit. I think you need ID to actually see the books, but the cafe there is lovely for an inexpensive lunch. Great sticky toffee pud!
