Lovely gem of a site.

Arrived on Saturday night on the way back up north. What a lovely sheltered setting. It is on a working farm but noise was minimal. Views to die for and walks direct from the site for the 🐕 dog. Owner was very welcoming and helpful on giving directions and advice for eateries at the nearby town etc. All 5 pitches were taken but there was plenty of space between each unit. Bonus of toilet and shower which were spotless. Electric at each pitch with drinking water tap near at hand. Chemical waste point next to chickens at main farm house. Cows and horses in adjoining fields which kept the kids on the site amused. Pitches all grass and level. Excellent site which we would definitely recommend - at £14 per night it puts many more expensive sites to shame. Doug & Jenny

Outstanding natural beauty

Our first visit to this area of outstanding natural beauty. I could wax lyrical about the walks on Arnside Knot(?), the Crag and Leighton Moss bird reserve, which were our reasons for visiting the area, but the site at Cotestones farm completed the three night break. Being October half-term, we expected to share the site but we were on our own! However, if there had been four other outfits, there would have been plenty of space. This may have put undue strain on the toilet and shower facilities though. Talking of these, the short walk through the orchard was refreshing to the feet, particularly after the dew fell - quite long grass and no trodden ways! Fortunately it had been dry and the field was firm enough, but there was evidence that other outfits had struggled getting on and off the site. Being a working farm, there also may be an issue with midges and mosquitoes but we managed to keep them at bay. It seemed a quiet site apart from the constant background noise of the M6 and the occasional train on the nearby track, but Sunday brought traffic  on the lane that went past the site on its way to and from the Stock Car racing, and a great deal of noise. A fairly decent pub about half an hour's walk away and a warm welcome when we visited the church.  Also a friendly reception from Helen and Paul.

Nice Quiet Site

Stayed for a couple of nights on the way south to Wales. Nice site, very peaceful with easy access. Carnforth nearby for supermarkets and fuel etc. Shower and toilet adequate. Met Helen on arrival who was very pleasant and helpful. Also watched the stock car racing nearby on the Sunday which was fun. Only slight downside is that the grass was long with all of the old grass cuttings still lying, which is not an issue in the dry, but as there were rain showers when we were there, it was a nightmare trying to keep the van clean. Overall enjoyed the say and would return.

Disappointing

We had booked an 8 night stay on this site after reading the favourable reviews. Unfortunately the site didn't live up to our expectations. On arrival there was no one there. We knocked on the door on six different occasions  the first day and four times the next day. In the meantime, the grubby toilet and shower, plus the very long, wet grass throughout the site, had put us off so we posted our money through the letterbox and left after 3 days without any sign of the owners.

An amazing little site

We had a fantastic first stay here this weekend. It was our very first trip out in our caravan and we couldn't have been welcomed more! Lovely people, great location, good facilities , cows ... What more could you ask for?! We will be back!

Fantastic little site shhhh dont tell everyone

We arrived on Friday 28th Aug for a bank holiday weekend stay. The owners were away at the time but there dad was there to greet us and someone was on site at all times but we never needed anyone. Set on a farm with stunning views all around it has a toilet and shower which is a bonus for a CL site. Great setting for getting to Morecambe and Lancaster. Also the best thing for us is the Stock car track near by. we went to an event on Sunday which was fantastic. Great little quiet and clean site will be booking again without a doubt.

No complaints from us.

An excellent little site in a superb location to travel into the Lake District or the surrounding areas around Morecambe Bay. The site has a shower and toilet facility, excellent for a CL, and kept very clean. The site is apparently under new ownership and the owners are very friendly and welcoming.

We'll be back!

First time at this CL - Very easy access with good directions. Lovely spot near to the coast, RSPB bird reserve (Leighton Moss), coastal and countryside walks. Spacious grass field with some sheltered boundaries - We weathered the worst June gales in living memory and with an awning up! Nice clean little washroom / toilet / shower (Lovely generous very hot water supply to the shower for £1.00) Thanks Helen and Paul, see you again.

Enjoyable place to stay

This was our second visit to the site and this time some friends brought their 'van along too.  The owners are welcoming and friendly though being farmers are not always about but the site runs itself. A problem with the 'Elsan' was dealt with almost immediately even though it was a 'bank holiday weekend' and the cause of the problem? A cap off a toilet cassette which blocked up the U-bend. A fault created by a caravanner NOT the site owners! Surely the caravanner responsible must have realised?   Well done to Paul & Helen the owners for getting to grips with the problem even though they had to fork out for the hire of a pneumatic drill to effect a repair.   WE will be returning. We love the peace and quiet, the location and the stunning views!

On the up!

The site is under new ownership so previous comments are now out of date. The toilet/shower block is currently undergoing a refurb and the facilities are fine.   We had a nice welcome - Helen & Paul were easy to deal with. The site is spacious. There are good walks  for both humans and dogs.  We had forgotten to bring our TV with us and Helen leant us theirs for the weekend and gave us a discount as the painting of the toilets wasn't quite complete. Toilet blocks on CLs are a luxury and few have them so what a great gesture! We will be returning.
