Campervan Visit September 2021

Excellent situation for exploring the local area by bike or on foot. Spacious field with choice of EHUs and easily accessible (for motorhomes) single water point. Clean facilities although we used our own. Road to farm quite busy with a lot of locals driving down to walk their dogs. Smell of slurry pervasive throughout our stay! We did not see the owners at any point during our 4 night stay. We would be happy to return for the birding - it is a beautiful walk to the mouth of the river from the site.

Pleasantly pleasing site

Just had a great 3 nights at Cotestones CL. Fairly level well spaced 5 pitches in large field. Water tap close by and cwdp and rubbish further away by farmhouse. Lovely area to explore with Arnside only 20 mins away in the camper and lanes not too narrow. Will visit again to explore the area further.

Great CL

Walked along the cycle path to Carnforth took about 40 mins depending on how quick or slow you walk, cycle path 5mins from site. Caught no. 49 bus from Carnforth to Hesk Bank very nice bus driver who told to get off at Peacock Lane where we could cross the level crossing to the beach front and then if we felt fit enough we could walk back to Carnforth along the canal or leave the canal part way and return by bus. Next 2 days we caught the train from Carnforth to Grange over Sands. The first night we walked from the site to Warton Bay well worth it. We enjoyed our stay and hope to return. Thankyou Helen your site is immaculate.

Spacious pleasant site

Just returned from a lovely break at cotestones farm,, large flat field with coastal views, clean and well equipped loo and shower room. Good walks from site and canal walks from carnforth. Visited Morecambe, Lancaster, Kendal and Kirkby Stephen, all worth a visit, pleasant owner, helpful and would stay again. Would like to thank other families on site around 16th August who helped my husband who had an accident while our walking, one helped with bandage and pain killers and other families helped to take down our awning, one gentleman even offered to tow us home, how good is that. Many thanks, just goes to show still many good people in this lovely country.

Great CL for Lancaster and surrounding areas.

We used this site as a 2 night stop off on the way to Scotland. Great location for visiting Lancaster. We should have stayed longer. The field is huge with plenty of room between caravans. Facilities were excellent and extremely clean. Handwash and handcreams were in the toilet blocks - something club sites don't even do. The children loved the friendly horses and watching the cows going for milking. The grass lush and green yet well drained. It is a proper working farm. Would highly recommend and would return.

Really enjoyed our stay here

The owners of this site were really friendly and helpful. It provides great access to beautiful locations and even has a great walk straight off the site itself. The site is quiet and well looked after. We will definitely be coming back here again

Great site, location and facilities

This was our first site post Covid closures (the owners had thoughtfully provided sanitiser at the gate, toilet and water tap and accept bank transfer as payment). The site is easy to find with good access (do follow the route through Carnforth if towing as the village of Warton is narrow with lots of parked cars). The site is of a good size with ample pitch choice and a nice grassy field. There is a slope to the field but we didn't need to level side to side. It rained heavily while we were there but, even so, campervans were able to leave without problem. In exceptionally wet conditions you could park very close to the access track. There is a rail line close to one corner of the site but it is the quiet line to the Cumbrian coast and is in a cutting; we never heard it or the M6. The single toilet and shower were spotless and in good condition. Not sure if they are heated. There is a small charge for the shower (£1 I think) for 10 minutes of hot water. We did not use it so cannot comment but it seems a fair charge given the rate for the campsite is quite low. We only spoke to the owners briefly but both that and email communication was friendly and helpful. The local area is interesting to explore on foot, by car or on bikes. We rode to Silverdale which was fun and interesting. One of the pubs in Warton was open but we did not visit and Carnforth is nearby. Stock Car racing happens about 1km away from the site (down the road to the estuary). It was not on (normally Sundays) during our stay. There is a charge if you want to watch it (£8 per adult, I think).

lovely peaceful site helpful owners

Called on chance of a place and were found one, on arrival we got stuck as it had been very wet our motorhome is an automatic which doesn't help in slippery conditions Paul the site owner came out very quickly to help us, with his 4WD he quickly towed us from the offending wet patch. This was our first stay on a CL but it certainly wont be our last and Helen and Pauls Cotestone farm is a site that will be revisited lovely people, lovely site.

Pleasant site

We only stayed for one night on our way back from Scotland , so didn't visit the locality but sure there would have been lots to do and see.The site wasn't difficult to access with a short narrow section just prior to the site and convenient for the M6. Plenty of space and easy access to shower & toilet facility and dog walking off site . Like the previous reviewer we had an issue and needed to call in Green Flag , who were great , but needed to take our van back on a transporter. The site owners were very understanding and had no bother on our delayed departure. Our only slight issue was the local Bangor Racing on the Sunday which did increase volume of traffic on the road and could be heard. However it was due to finish at 6pm so in general had we been staying longer we would have been offsite for this time or perhaps have popped down to watch! Would be happy to visit again

Eventful holiday

We drove with our caravan up to the Lakes on the M6 on Sunday 16th June, only to get a blow out on a caravan tyre just before the slip road for Junction 18 (very convenient), Thankfully, Green Flag got us on our way within the hour, only to have a second blow out on the remaining caravan tyre less than a couple of miles down the M6. The recovery team were amazing (same man, Paul and his colleague) and we followed them all the way to Carnforth to the farm site. We had contacted Paul to see if this was ok and arrived at 9.30pm instead of the expected 5pm. Caravan was deposited on the pitch, and within 5 minutes fellow campers, Margaret and Jim, came over to ask if we took milk and sugar and proceeded to help us get set up. We have been caravanning for over 30 years and never had problems like this happen, so to then receive all of this kindness from complete strangers was overwhelming, and it is lovely to know there are some really good people out there. Paul recommended where to go to get tyres fixed and the rest of our stay was fabulous. This site is a little gem and Paul and Helen could not have been more welcoming and understanding. Can't wait for a return visit.
