Wonderful introduction to caravaning

We stayed 3 nights here (17th - 19th August 2024) for our first trip away with our caravan and it couldn't have been better. The information on the website was super helpful in planning our drive there (avoiding the need for tricky manouvres) and sussing out dog walks and local places to eat and shop. The site was just what we were looking for - quiet and peaceful, well kept and in beautiful countryside. The facilities were top notch and the size of the pitches generous. Our dog Hettie thoroughly enjoyed her morning and evening walks across the fields - all accessed from the site. There were no livestock in the locality and if you are a dog owner reading this, you may know the benefits of that for off lead walking and undisturbed nights (Hettie can be hypervigilant and sensitive to cows and sheep mooing and bleating in nearby fields). We had Sunday lunch at the dog friendly Five Bells at Bassingham and would highly recommend it but you will need to book as they are very poular. Andrew and Maggie have created a beautiful site and we look forward to visting again.

Lovely quiet stay

A lovely site in a really peaceful location. We only stayed 1 night which just happened to be the hottest day of the year so far so we enjoyed sitting out listening to the silence. Local pub which we walked to, The Lord Nelson, was very welcoming and the food looked amazing. Ring and book in if you want to eat there, they were really busy. Hoping to return soon to make the most of the local train station and visit Newark and Lincoln

A little Gem

Well worth a visit short or long stay, Booking system on line easy to negotiate, confirmation of booking comes with a diagrammatic layout of the site and you are allocated a pitch number, could not be easier The route into the site is very easy, Andy and Maggie have put a lot of effort into establishing this site The facilities are fantastic and so well thought out and maintained The pitches are well spaced out and situated on the private lawned field behind the house. Each pitch is separated by a low fence with more than enough room for the caravan, awning, car and also space to enjoy the pitch and surroundings. The views from the field are lovely and the birds and wildlife are varied, In fact the only noise you will hear is the birds and the occasional tractor,There is also a brilliant Reception Shed which is a real treasure, inside you will find a tiny but well stocked shop with everything you may have forgotten or might need during your stay, this is such a great idea as there is nothing worse than having to drive out to the nearest village for something you need. There is also a mine of local information to be found in the shed from places to visit to local walking routes, it's all so well thought out and makes your visit to the area even better. The bins are sorted into general waste and recycling and the water point has a tap with a short hose for aqua rolls and a longer hose for motor-home filling. The toilet emptying point is honestly one of the best we've ever seen as it's a really easy to use design and super clean with a water hose and sanitizer. All around the site and cottage the gardens and grass are beautifully maintained which makes staying a real pleasure.

A Little Piece of HEAVEN

Super hosts in Maggie and Andy, As quiet as can be site spotlessly clean site with large firm grass pitches. Beautifully tended with flower beds on the perimeter, recycling, water taps, Elsan Point and grey water point, electric hookups and a reception shed with consumables. Dog friendly with easy access to Newark and other villages nearby. Nature reserve with hides for bird watchers within 5 minutes drive. Would without doubt recommend this place and will return when next in the area. Many thanks for a great stay Maggie and Andy and a great little thought concerning the SHED. Fabulous pub by the name of FIVE BELLS in Bassingham which serves super food, dog friendly too. Regards Pauline and Carl

They Got me out of a sticky situation

We were booked onto another CL in Newark but when we got there we found it to be a quagmire and totally not fit to be used, I phoned Andrew and explained the problem I had and to my surprise he had one spare pitch for the four days we wanted , an hour later we turned up only to realise we had been on this site before and it was exactly what we wanted, the whole site is very well drained and hardly looked as though it had been rained on it is perfectly flat we well spaced pitches and is a cut above the rest, its a quiet site with plenty of wildlife to be seen including deers, hares, Egyptian geese, pheasants and more. It's a very pleasant site and well worth a visit

The Loveliest CL

We've stayed for two blissful weeks at Corner Cottage and it's one of the loveliest Cl's on the network and definitely deserves more than five stars. Booking was straightforward, fast and really easy via the website which is so much easier than having to call. Communication from the owners is also fantastic, they are genuinely nice people and so accommodating. Entry to the site is very easy from the lane and we found the additional sign they had put up further down the lane very helpful. On arrival the owners were lovely and friendly and showed us where to pitch and where everything was, they are super helpful but completely unintrusive, leaving you to get on and enjoy their beautiful CL. The facilities are fantastic and so well thought out and maintained The pitches are well spaced out and situated on the private lawned field behind the house. Each pitch is separated by a low fence with more than enough room for the caravan, awning, car and also space to enjoy the pitch and surroundings. The views from the field are lovely and the birds and wildlife are varied and great to see including hare, pheasants, woodpeckers, all types of birds. In fact the only noise you will hear is the birds singing as it's so quiet. There is also a brilliant Reception Shed which is a real treasure, inside you will find a tiny but well stocked shop with everything you may have forgotten or might need during your stay, this is such a great idea as there is nothing worse than having to drive out to the nearest village to fetch a tin of beans. There is also a mine of local information to be found in the shed from places to visit to local walking routes, it's all so well thought out and makes your visit to the area even better. The water, bins and loo emptying is fantastic. The bins are sorted into general waste and recycling and the water point has a tap with a short hose for aqua rolls and a longer hose for motorhome filling. The toilet emptying point is honestly one of the best we've ever seen as it's a really easy to use design and super clean with a water hose and sanitiser. All around the site and cottage the gardens and grass are beautifully maintained which makes staying a real pleasure. The immediate countryside is idyllic, the nearest village of South Scarle is beautiful as is the next village of Collingham where there is a large coop supermarket, chemist and post office and its very easy to drive to Newark or Lincoln and further afield, making this a great base for exploring both Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire. Overall this really is a lovely well thought out site and a real pleasure to visit and we have enjoyed every minute of being there.

Wonderful well manages and tranquil gem of a site

We stayed 4 nights in October. This is a perfect little CL . A well organised immaculately kept lawned garden site. Well defined pitches all have great views. It is a very quiet peaceful location but easy to get to. Easy to book with good website and great info provided by friendly owners. The site is close to attractions & transport. There’s a great pub in Besthorpe which is walkable to & serves good food Wed-Sundays. Nice to have the Shed that serves as an info point with a few essentials should you need them . Fully recommend & will certainly return. Lynne & Ken

Peaceful

Have just returned from a 2 night break from this site. Booking was done easily on the website. The site is a large well fenced off lawn/ field ( using the word lawn as the grass was immaculate). Short cut and no clods of grass like you get on some sites. The large pitches are marked out and separated by a small fence, with plenty of space for large caravans. A small shop on site with essentials means you haven't far to go. Whisby nature reserve is a short drive away, with plenty of walks. Would highly recommend this site, and will certainly be back

Excellent

What a lovely CL, I stayed for 4 nights, very well maintained easy access, no fuss on booking in, an email is sent a couple of days before your visit, explaining the procedure and your pitch number, plus a lot of information about the area so you drive straight on and pitch up, the site is so quite, lots of dog walks from the site

A lovely site in the country

First impressions count and they certainly do here. Very peaceful well laid out site with lovely owners. Corner Cottage has a lovely approach with easy access. The site is a very good size with more than ample parking between pitches. You are allocated your pitch prior to your arrival, this is not a problem as all pitches have very good views both of the site and across farmland. The site is laid to well kept level grass. Andy & Maggie have put in some flower borders to add a nice touch. Toilet emptying point is near the entrance to the site, this is for green toilet fluid which a lot of sites are transferring over too, not only because of individuals septic tanks but of course is better for the environment. A small information hut has been set up, this has ideas of local walks of which there are plenty, local pubs and places to visit. In case you had forgotten the odd thing, there are some basic essentials for purchase, cakes as well, don't forget the cakes. There is recycling on site where bins are emptied daily. This site is certainly recommended whether its for a weekend, week or longer holiday. Well done for winning your CL of the Year award, justifiably so. Martin & Mandy Garden House CL, Suffolk
