A Great CL
A great CL with plenty of space and country views. A very peaceful ambience although it was just possible to hear unobtrusive traffic noise on the A30 (dependent on wind direction) which is out of sight and about 500 metres away. Access from the A30 is very good. There is excellent walking from the site both North and South of the A30 to the Nadder and Ebble valleys, including to Wardour Castle and Alvediston Church which is Sir Antony Eden's resting place. We received a very friendly welcome from Mrs Beale who lent us a 1:25,000 map and 2 books of local walks. The TV reception was good. The nearest shops are in Tisbury about 10 mins away by car but better shops including a large Tescos with 3 hours free parking are at Shaftesbury about 15 mins away which is an interesting place to visit. There are several country pubs that can be incorporated into a long walk but nothing close by. A farm/tea shop on the A30 that is walkable from the back of the site was closed during our bank holiday stay. The grass was well cut and drained. At £12 a night including electricity this is a good value site. We only stayed 3 nights and hope to be back again soon to this quiet area of outstanding natural beauty.
