Just perfect for me

I really loved this site. Such a picturesque location with a charming host in Mrs Beale. I was only passing through for two nights and didn’t get a chance to explore much; just the pretty village of Ansty and one of the local dog walks. Anyone there for a longer stay would have plenty of interesting places to visit within a 20-mile radius when not simply chilling on site. The camping area is a long strip of pasture, bordered by trees along one side and a sheep field on the other, all overlooked by the beautiful Wiltshire Downs. There is enough room to spread out and the hard standing area could probably accommodate a couple of units at a pinch. A full five stars from me with no hesitation.

Stunning location

We've just returned from our first visit to this CL - but without any doubt we'll be back. This is essentially (to us as walkers) what a CL should be - stunning location, beautiful views, space, a charming and very kind site owner, endless, endless number of walks from the site. A gem

Lovely, tranquil setting

Lovely little CL on the edge of an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Easy access and good facilities for with sheep in the field next door. We only stayed 3 nights but we will back to explore the area more as the walking from the doorstep that we dipped into was beautiful.

A lovely peaceful site

Easily accessed off the A 30, between Shaftsbury and Wilton, the site lies along one side of a long narrowish paddock at the end of 0.4 ml tarmac and concrete drive, past the farm house. The first two pitches are on a large hardstanding area, adjacent to the drinking water point, with the other, well spaced, grass pitches extending down the field, all with EHU. The site looks to the South East towards one of the ridges of Cannock Chase, and there is a dog walk from the bottom end of the site which leads onto a byway and from there one can access the ridge. There is a circular walk of about a mile which takes in the blue bell wood behind the site, Old Wardour Castle can be reached using footpaths, byways and lanes, and other walks, and mountain bike rides, of varying lengths can be done from the Chase ridge. Shaftsbury, Salisbury, Wilton House and Stonehenge are all within an easy drive, and other less well known places of interest close by are the Fovent Hillside Military Badges, Fonthill Estate and lake, and the Messums Gallery at Tisbury. There is a regular bus service between Shaftsbury and Salisbury that passes the entrance drive, although I don't know how often they run. There is a large Tesco, with a filling station, at Shaftsbury, and within walking distance from the site a good farm shop and cafe. The lovely lady owner, Beryl, is very friendly and helpful. We would not hesitate to use this site again.

Pretty and peaceful little site

Mrs Beale gave us all the information about the site and surrounding area when we arrived. The site was a small long slightly sloping field overlooking wonderful farmland and hills. Levelling blocks were required. EHU points were close by and water and disposal point at the top of the field. There were plenty of walks including a farm shop within 10 minutes walk, which was well worth visiting for milk, bread and fresh produce. We will definitely return.

Lovely CL

This is a lovely CL with easy access off the A30 and lots of room - although you will need a long lead for the nearest electric point if you want to locate yourself towards the bottom end of the field. Plenty of good local walks and pretty villages to explore and the owner's 'Dog Walk' through the bluebell wood is spectacular at this time of year.

Felt like we were miles from anywhere.... Blissful

Just so peaceful with fantastic walks from the site, this is what we wanted & this is what we got so that's why we gave an overall rating of 5 stars. The main walks from the site are up fairly steep inclines but once at the top there are level pathways & scenic views, although rather muddy at this time of year. The site itself was also muddy so it is best to park up nearest the entrance if they have had a prolonged wet spell but we feel this is to be expected for a rural certified location. The owner Beryl was so friendly but unobtrusive & on hand if we needed her. She gave us some brochures & a map to give us some idea where to visit. We stayed on the site for 3 days purely for walking so we didn't take the motor home out at all. We know the area pretty well & it is a lovely part of the country. Sheep bleating & Owls hooting with just the very faint sound of passing traffic even though it is just off a busy road. I am literally just about to ring her to see if we can stay here for New Years Eve as we thought it would make a change from our usual Boozy NYE parties!!

Rural Setting

Friendly welcome. Large sloping field so plenty of space and so no need to be crammed together. Very quiet and peaceful location. Only the occasional bleat of sheep and lambs in the next field to remind you of the rural setting. Lovely views across the valley.

Lovely CL

We've been co in to this CL for nearly 20 years, and we love it. The views and walks are fabulous. The welcome from the owners is warm and friendly. We've just come back from nine nights on this site, and wasn't disappointed.
