Huge field to pitch on with lots of space around you. Really easy access. Beautiful views across the fields and no road noise. Plenty of space for our 2 dogs and we had a lovely walk around the farm- enjoyed seeing the little goats.
Very friendly, relaxed owner. Facilities perfect for what we needed.
Only about 7 miles from Burnham Overy for a nice walk along the coastal path. 10 miles to Fakenham for a Morrisons or Tesco.
Highlight of the stay was watching a pair of barn owls hunting over the fields before returning with mice to the old barn on site.
We will definitely be back.
Not As Good as Reviewed!
Whilst I have to agree that the site is peaceful and in a nice setting, I'm afraid that there were some negatives that we didn't like. We arrived and didn't see the owner in 4 days and then only when we went to pay, so we just parked up where we thought that it was OK.. The field has a decent flat area at the bottom of quite a hill. To get water, use waste disposal and the toilet, you have to walk up the hill about 75 metres which doesn't sound much but if you run out of water in the rain, it's a pain. Someone said that the shower and toilet were good. No they aren't! The shower (at a cost of 50p!) would either give you scalding hot or freezing cold water and the actual 'room' that it is in is very cold. On top of this, there is no wi-fi and pretty bad telephone signal. In the light of having 4 other CLs within a mile along the same road, all of which we checked out and which were flat, had wi-fi and decent ablutions, I think that Compton Hall need to look at upgrading their facilities.
Blissful
We arrived for a 2 day break, our first foray this year. A truly quiet, peaceful site, huge field with loads of space and lambs gambolling in the adjoining meadow. Good dog walk albeit on the lead as lambing in progress, however just a 5 minute drive from Syderstone Common for plenty of off the lead fun so no issues. Nice shower and toilet if required. Literally a short, off road walk to the pub which we shall try next time.
One for the future

Peaceful spot
A beautiful, tranquil spot with abundant wildlife and lovely views. A large, attractive field with short grass and plenty of level areas despite being on a slope. Set well back from the road. The children loved the open space at this site. The friendly owner met us on arrival. The hookups are thoughtfully laid out. The site has a decent toilet and huge walk in shower, although they are at the top of the hill. A shower costs 50p (honesty box). The toilet emptying facility is fairly good but would benefit from a cover. There is a pub within walking distance (although we did not use it). Otherwise, it is an easy 10 minute drive to the shops and restaurants in Fakenham or about half an hour, sometimes along single track roads, to get to most other places...if you don't mind that, this is a wonderful site.

Birds, Bunnies and Beer
If peace, quiet, birds galore and an abundance of wildlife is your idea of the ideal campsite, try giving Compton Hall in South Creake Norfolk a visit.
Considering it is a working farm with pigs, sheep, cattle and arable you don’t hear a thing except the birdsong.
We were treated to the sight of three young hares gambolling around our van and I lost count of the different types of birds.
The dog friendly site has EHU spaced all around the 2+ acre field, so no one need feel cramped. The field is rather sloping so would advise to make sure you have some blocks with you, even though there are several flat spots where none would be needed.
The site boasts a shower which costs 50p put into the cutest “Honesty” box I have ever seen. There is also a toilet and all was clean and functional. Outside were the recycle and general rubbish bins.
There is also a file with a list of birds to look out for and also places to visit.
The owner was very friendly and drove over to our van to say hello and tell us where everything was.
The village is just a short walk across the field away it sports a pub and you can also buy fresh crabs from a local fisherman a short way from the pub, they also had milk which as there are no shops in the village was very helpful.
The Plume of Feathers pub served good beer and some mouth watering food. It now has new owners who have done a good job of breathing fresh life into the place.
We will definitely be revisiting Compton Hall.
peace and quiet
A lovely relaxing site close to wells and fakenham we stayed for a long weekend ideal to stroll around the farm and surrounding fields with the dog for short break close to home
A Perfect Piece Of Peace.
This was our second visit to this CL our first being some 13yr's ago and thankfully nothing has changed since. Now that's a good thing as the reason for re-visiting this site was the peace and quiet it offers. Sited well back from the road all that you can hear are the resident farm animals and the wildlife and during the night you are assured a good nights sleep. The site slopes from top to bottom but there are plenty of areas to site your outfit level with the minimum of fuss. The shower and toilet facilities although basic (and cold) are adequate but we did tend to use our own shower more during the stay. The site is well located for the many delights of the North Norfolk coast including Wells and Hunstanton but the jewels in the crown are the smaller villages dotted in between not least our favorite Burnham Overy Staithe. At the time of our visit the local "Ostrich Inn" is undergoing a refit and didn't appear to have much to offer, so for eating out the " Jolly Farmers" at North Creake would be a better option. To sum up, if it's peace, tranquility and location you are after then this CL should be on your short list and at £12 per night pretty good value. Oh and by the way, the owners are very friendly and will stop by and have a chat without overstaying their welcome. We will be back and this time wont wait 13 years!
Peaceful site
Really lovely large site, slightly sloping but found a level part. Did it feel very friendly? No sight of owners in the five days we were there - a faded note said to leave a cheque in a bowl by a window, and gave a mobile phone number to ring if a problem. NB. No paper towels left for caravanners to use - only a warning: do not use the loo paper for drying hands!
We found our own way around the location with the help of a friendly caravanning neighbour - thank you xx. The Ostrich Inn is open again for a friendly beer or two and may do food again in the future.
