Lack of care

We visited here in early June. The site is indeed lovely with plenty of wildlife around, in a nice part of Norfolk. I am prompted to write this review because I felt the owner, Evie, didn't seem to have a great deal of interest in running the site. Unlike every other CL site we have been to recently, there was zero Covid security - no hand sanitisers etc. There was no signage, information, greeting. We were there 3 days and never saw her except when I went to find her to pay. In my experience most owners take a spin round the site once a day, say hello, collect money, answer questions, share information and so on. There was none of that here and I was just left with a general impression that the owner didn't really care that much.

Lovely site but.......

Lovely site with loads of space, great views, plenty of wildlife, and lots of local interest. Unfortunately, it was spoilt by the poor state of the "facilities". The toilet was not cleaned, except by my wife, during our 4-day stay. There was no toilet paper or hand drying provided and the bins were not emptied. There was no supply of hand wash at the basin. Neither of us braved the shower, which did not look very inviting. Bear in mind that we visited during Covid times, so cleanliness should have been more of a priority.

Lovely!

We have just returned from a 6 night stay here (it would have been longer but we left early because of an impending storm!). Easy access. The field is the size stated and the EHU well spaced. As stated, it has a slope but it can be used. The ground was good - even for February. Lovely walks around the farm to see the animals. We would go there again.

Peaceful and lovely views

Lovely site on a working farm. Peaceful, quiet and no noise from the road. Lovely views. Payment by honesty box. Basic but good facilities. Great location for access to Holkham and Wells. Really enjoyed our stay and would happily return!

Fantastic, our new favourite!

This is a fabulous CL - we recently spent nearly a week here and loved every moment. The field is enormous so even when full, you have so much space around you. The facilities are pretty basic, but the shower's nice and hot (50p per shower honesty box system). Our kids loved the little wooded 'nettle patch' as they were able to hunt for bird's eggs that had fallen to the ground. We drove to beaches most days as we were blessed with lovely weather. Some pitches are up a hill (there are flat ones at the bottom) and we stayed on one of these, and the sunsets were gorgeous. I'm not sure our van would make it up the hill in the wet so easily, but it was fine in the dry. Excellent value too.

Great location,Lits of space. Highly recommend

Great site. Facilities are basic but adequate. Field is massive with lots of space between pitches. Grass cut twice in our 10 day stay. Perfect location. Highly recommend. Will definitely stay here again

Fantastic Weeks Stay

Lovely stay at Compton Hall. Slight sloping pitch but there are flat areas at the bottom. Perfect location to explore Norfolk. Didn’t use the toilet and shower but other facilities were easy to use and water was within easy reach. We stayed with our 2 young children who loved the goats, sheep, lambs and cows. Unfortunately we stayed on a very wet week but we still had a fantastic stay for only our second trip out. We met the owners during and towards the end of our stay and they were extremely friendly and helpful. Will definitely be returning!

Very Disappointing - We didn’t stay

The write up states ‘slightly sloping’, it is not. its more like a very hilly overgrown meadow with one water tap and Elsan point at the top of the hill. There is only a sign on the entrance to the field that states it’s a cl. There is nothing that explains where to go or where anything is. I had to ask a fellow camper where I had to go to pay. We decided that we couldn’t stay as my husband has limited mobility, and so on climbing up the hill and finding my way to the house, I explained to the lady that we wouldn’t be staying and why only to be told that we weren’t booked in anyway... this despite the fact that I had emailed and had confirmation from Christopher that they had a pitch available and I had confirmed our acceptance .... Luckily for us we managed to get a pitch down the road at side-a-wood. A very level site with very helpful owners

Peace and quiet, ideal for exploring the area

The site is as per previous reviews, a very large field with a slope up to the shower, toilet, chemical waste and water Flatter areas are at the bottom and there was loads of space between us and the other guests. Honesty box for the shower (50p) which was hot - take a torch at night! Friendly owner and helpful for local knowledge.
