Lets talk about the site, as a CL its very good large level field with closely mown grass. Easy access in and out of the field. Now lets mention the free on site fishing. If like myself and a fellow caravaner, if you book the site for the fishing then don't there is no on site fishing. Instead you will be informed of a pond about a mile away which is not free. So come on Mr. and Mrs Wilkinson stop the false advertising and inform the Caravan Club so that your listing can be amended. Until then please when a member contacts you for a pitch tell them in advance there is no on site fishing. Thank you
Such a lovely CL to stay on for our first visit to Yorkshire.
Definitely coming back.
Access is good, the site is level and well kept.
We liked having our own water tap so no lugging the Aquaroll around.
York park and Ride is 20 minutes up the road and Bridlington just under an hour.
Lovely large, quiet, flat site. Very easy access from M62. Warm welcome from helpful owner. Many interesting places to visit and lovely countryside for walks.
What a find! Only half an hour from home but felt we could have been miles away. Peaceful well kept site. Spacious and tidy. Great walks from site. Helpful friendly owners who weren't intrusive. Handy for York.
Easy to access and not far from the A road. ( Use entrance just past the house)
Owners around most of the time. Very friendly and informative.
Information in the large she'd with whiteboard for wildlife sightings. We saw kites, bats, .Great for dog walking with 2 large ponds nearby or cool woodland walks if it's very hot.
Farm at bottom of road sells massive double yolk eggs - recommended.
Lovely stream running through it.
No showers or WC but we use our on board facilities anyway.
Site fairly level and lawns cut well. No clippings left.Tidy and well kept.
We stayed for a long weekend and visited York and Bridlington.
Lovely and peaceful with little road noise.
Will definitely return. Loved it.
Best CL we have stayed at.
After a early finish from work and 40 minutes from home what else would you ask for?
A warm welcome, a well kept site with lots of space, no noise, easy access and straight onto a bridle path for dog walking.
It's all we want for a chilled out weekend and we will return .
We have just spent a very relaxing week here. Arrived in pouring rain ,but had a warm friendly welcome from Sally and Graham. The site is flat and well maintained, recycling is straightforward in the barn. Everything has been well thought out ,plenty of space between pitches, a number of water taps and easy chemical disposal point .You can stroll up to the fishing lake and there are two seats to just sit and relax, a nice spot even if you do not fish. There is plenty to do in the area ,we visited Hull ,York and Harrogate. We spent a pleasant few hours at Burnby Hall Gardens, which was ablaze with Tulips and the small museum is very interesting. Burton Constable Hall is also well worth a visit.Although we arrived in rain ,we were then lucky enough to enjoy the beautiful weather over the Bank Holiday. An excellent site ,that we would love to return to..Thank you Sally and Graham, and loved the puppies!
We're visiting this site more regularly - each visit is relaxing & welcoming and when we leave we are already looking forward to the next visit! The owners are friendly and really helpful. The site is spacious, with well spaced pitches. The local attractions are many & varied including local towns and York City (only 25 minutes away). The views, walks and wildlife from the campsite are lovely. Watching the barn owl circling the site one evening last week (Easter) was spectacular.
Thanks again for a great break, and see you again soon! Kev & Jane.
Found Common Farm after a brief search for CL's in Yorkshire with fishing on site. Description sounded spot on and so it proved to be. Lovely flat site, beautifully maintained with basic amenities to hand. On arrival Sally checked with us that all was OK and was very friendly and helpful, checking that we knew were everything was and telling us of the information and maps available in the barn. The small pond was delightful and in great condition, dragonflies and damsel flies abound - missed a few bites because of them. Fishing was good with some very nice size roach along with smaller roach and rudd - a delightful spot to spend a few hours. Wildlife abounds and saw our first Red Kite - glorious. Nice dog walks as well. Very easy to get into York, Beverly etc. and lots to see in the area. All in all a wonderful stay and we will certainly be back.
