A hidden treasure
Stayed here for two nights in May. Access from the main road is via a small sandy track and there is a moderately steep but short climb up to the site itself which is well drained and mostly level with a slight slope in some areas. There is nobody to greet you and we didn't manage to contact anybody by phone. However, clear instructions and information are posted on a tree which can't be missed. The site comprises the car park for the lovely old Saxon church of St Peters and is next to the church and graveyard. There is a gastro-pub, The Froize Inn within a few minutes walk and the Oyster Inn at Butley can be walked to in about 40 minutes. There are lovely walks in all directions from the site and Orford itself can be walked to across the fields in about an hour and a half. Most of Suffolk's main towns and attractions are within a short car journey. All in all a highly recommended campsite if you are the self-sufficient sort.
