Ease of arrival/welcome

Fabulous

Absolutely loved Cherry Cottage. We received fabulous information and directions before travelling to the site. Lynn also took time to give us extra details for our journey. On arrival, we were given a very friendly welcome by the lovely Lynn. She showed us to our pitch and gave us all the information we needed to settle in. There was also a welcome board as we drove in, showing our name and pitch number. The site is laid out well, with good facilities. Water and electricity on each pitch, an information hut, good recycling and rubbish area, along with good chemical waste facilities. There is also a spotlessly clean laundry room and toilet facilities. Very reasonable prices to use the washing machine or tumble dryer, detergents and softener supplies too. Most importantly, Lynn is a super host who makes time to chat, even though she is a busy lady. She was always on hand to give advice on days out etc. From each pitch you get lovely views of the countryside, along with absolutely beautiful skies, especially sunsets. We walked to the Hunters Moon pub on our first evening, an easy walk from site. Great welcome here too, very friendly and lovely food. Lynn has two lovely little ponies in a paddock, very cute. Cherry Cottage is central to many places to visit and not too far from the coast. We did a mixture of longer trips to the coast and places very close by. Cerne Abbas and Sherborne with its beautiful Cathedral and Castles are both less than 15 minutes away. When staying, don’t miss a visit to Round Chimneys Farm Cafe and tea rooms. A smashing little place to have lunch or coffee and cake. It’s 5 minutes drive from Cherry Cottage or a 40 minute walk along quiet country lanes. The owners are a very friendly family, they invited us to look around at the animals and the lake before we left, so lovely. On our last day we decided to book Sunday lunch at The Thimble Inn, what a fabulous place to eat. Food was excellent and staff very friendly. All in all we had a wonderful stay and would highly recommend for anyone who is looking for a quiet countryside stay with very friendly people. Almost forgot to mention Jen, the ice cream lady who visits on Thursday and Saturday evenings, delicious, huge and exceptional value. Also hard to resist! PS a big thank you to Lynn’s husband John, who went out of his way to get us some supples, while he was out shopping 👍 that’s service for you
