Holiday at Cherry Cottage CL

We spent a week at Cherry Cottage at the end of June. Before our arrival Lynn, the owner, sent comprehensive information about the site, facilities, and the best route to approach with a caravan on tow. The site is very well maintained, and all facilities are immaculate, with everything we needed for our holiday. We had a grass pitch with EHU and our own tap and, because of the dry weather (we were lucky), we were advised to drain grey water into the hedge using the filter provided. The only potential issue, and I don’t recall seeing anything about this in the information, is that green fluid is required for the toilet. Fortunately we’d already changed our supply to green so we were OK. The site wifi was very useful too as our phone signals were variable. Lynn was around at some point every day to check that all was well. I enjoyed chatting with her, and she had a wealth of information on places to visit. We visited Abbotsbury Swannery and sub tropical gardens, Weymouth, Sherborne abbey, Sherborne castle, and Minterne gardens and had some peaceful, relaxing time on site in between. We had dinner at the Hunter’s Moon early in the week and enjoyed the food so much that we returned on another evening. We also got eggs from the farm next door which were lovely. I bought some to bring home. We had a lovely week at Cherry Cottage and wouldn’t hesitate to return.

Fabulous

Absolutely loved Cherry Cottage. We received fabulous information and directions before travelling to the site. Lynn also took time to give us extra details for our journey. On arrival, we were given a very friendly welcome by the lovely Lynn. She showed us to our pitch and gave us all the information we needed to settle in. There was also a welcome board as we drove in, showing our name and pitch number. The site is laid out well, with good facilities. Water and electricity on each pitch, an information hut, good recycling and rubbish area, along with good chemical waste facilities. There is also a spotlessly clean laundry room and toilet facilities. Very reasonable prices to use the washing machine or tumble dryer, detergents and softener supplies too. Most importantly, Lynn is a super host who makes time to chat, even though she is a busy lady. She was always on hand to give advice on days out etc. From each pitch you get lovely views of the countryside, along with absolutely beautiful skies, especially sunsets. We walked to the Hunters Moon pub on our first evening, an easy walk from site. Great welcome here too, very friendly and lovely food. Lynn has two lovely little ponies in a paddock, very cute. Cherry Cottage is central to many places to visit and not too far from the coast. We did a mixture of longer trips to the coast and places very close by. Cerne Abbas and Sherborne with its beautiful Cathedral and Castles are both less than 15 minutes away. When staying, don’t miss a visit to Round Chimneys Farm Cafe and tea rooms. A smashing little place to have lunch or coffee and cake. It’s 5 minutes drive from Cherry Cottage or a 40 minute walk along quiet country lanes. The owners are a very friendly family, they invited us to look around at the animals and the lake before we left, so lovely. On our last day we decided to book Sunday lunch at The Thimble Inn, what a fabulous place to eat. Food was excellent and staff very friendly. All in all we had a wonderful stay and would highly recommend for anyone who is looking for a quiet countryside stay with very friendly people. Almost forgot to mention Jen, the ice cream lady who visits on Thursday and Saturday evenings, delicious, huge and exceptional value. Also hard to resist! PS a big thank you to Lynn’s husband John, who went out of his way to get us some supples, while he was out shopping 👍 that’s service for you

As pretty as the name Cherry Cottage

Another relaxing stay at this gem of a site. Fully serviced pitches, Toilet, Fast Wi-Fi, picnic tables, information hut. Perfectly manicured grass along with two hard standings and all set in glorious countryside. Plenty to visit including Sherborne and it's castles, Mintern Gardens, Cerne Abbas and it's giant, Dorchester, Weymouth, Poole,West Bay and Lyme Regis to name just a few. Lovely owners, it's no wonder you have to book early.

Peaceful site with a very warm welcome

We stayed here for 8 nights in May and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The dog walking field is huge and well maintained as are all the facilities. Arrival instructions were really clear and helpful and Lynn was a super host. Lots to do locally and the coast is half an hour away so well situated without being with the hoards. We enjoyed it so much we have since recommended it to a couple we met on another site that live on the south coast and look to get away from it for short breaks in the summer. We will definitely visit again if we are back down that way.

Excellent CL

We stayed at the lovely Cherry Cottage CL for just over a week and we throughly enjoyed our stay. It is so very peaceful and tranquil, ideal for us who wanted just that for our holiday. Lynn and Jon were very welcoming and helpful during our stay, and they keep the site absolutely immaculate. We hope to be back again for another holiday!

Excellent CL

This was our 2nd CL site, and has set the benchmark high for others to follow. We made a last minute booking on the day. Very good directions, great site, 10 minutes drvie from Sherborne. Peaceful, rural location. Lynn and John were very welcoming and friendly and provided helpful information on the area. We look forward to returning.

Immaculate and peaceful site

We have just spent 5 nights at Cherry Cottage CL. This lovely site has been on my wish list since 2019. The site is immaculate and really peaceful. Pre-arrival information was very comprehensive and really helpful. The information hut has a variety of laminated OS maps of local walks, games and a book exchange. Our hard standing pitch was level with EHU, water and grey waste into the hedge. There is a good dog walk field but dogs need to be on their lead. There is a washing machine, tumble dryer and toilet. Lynn popped down to welcome us and chatted about different places to visit but unfortunately the weather wasn’t great so we tended to just take the dogs for walks along the country lanes. I would definitely recommend Cherry Cottage 😊

My favorite so far!

Perfect CL, lovely owners, beautiful lawned site. The site is situated in Middlemarsh on a quiet country lane with few neighbours, giving you the peace and quiet needed for a wonderful break. The approach down the final lane is quite narrow near the CL entrance but if you follow Lynn's instructions (or the video on their website) you'll have no bother. We left Cherry Cottage today after a lovely 4 day stay. The site is great with nice level pitches, EHU & water to each pitch. They are well spaced and the whole property is immaculately kept, including the Elsan and recycling area. The site is between Dorchester and Sherborne with easy access off the main road with good entrance and security gating, then a short drive to the main area. It’s probably the best one we have stayed on and we have stayed on a few. The hosts Lynn and John are so friendly and helpful, nothing is too much trouble. The first two pitches are hard standing, and the remainder are grass pitches. As we own a dog, we made use of the excellent and well-maintained enclosed dog walk. There is a laundry room with a washing machine, tumble dryer and fridge and also a unisex toilet which is kept very clean, also there is free Wi-Fi. Lynn has provided an information shed where you can find local tourist info, walking routes and swap books with other visitors as well as the bus timetables. The facilities were spot on and a very quiet location. From your pitch you can view gorgeous sunsets. Really nice setting with nice walk through fields to nearest pub which is also very friendly or a walk along country lanes to Round Chimneys Farm for an excellent farm shop and café. Lots of places to visit around the area but i would recommend Sherborne Abbey and town and also Dorchester with various National Trust properties in easy reach. we cannot wait to return to this wonderful site!

A little gem - perfect

What a little gem this site is. It’s probably the best one we have stayed on and we have stayed on numerous. The hosts Lynn and John are so friendly and helpful, nothing is too much trouble. The site is very secure and kept immaculate. It felt homely from the moment we entered through the gate. There is a laundry room with a washing machine, tumble dryer and fridge and also a unisex toilet which is kept very clean, plus an information shed where you can swop books. Also there is free Wi-Fi. There is also a lovely meadow which you can walk around. From your pitch you can view gorgeous sunsets. We loved the two small ponies and four sheep which included a gorgeous baby one which we nicknamed Little Jack. It is a very peaceful and relaxing site. We loved it. Ideally situated for touring Dorset. Would 100% recommend this site. 💕 Jenny and Alan Meredith

Perfect.

We stayed at Cherry Cottage CL for six days in June. What a fabulous site. Fully serviced pitches, electric meters, we were always well within the generous daily allowance. Excellent value for money. The site is beautifully kept, with two hardstanding pitches, the remainder being grass. There is secure entry and exit, and it is quiet and peaceful. We loved the dog walk which is a wildflower meadow, full of buttercups at the time, with a carefully mown path around the edge. Lynn and John are fabulous hosts. Nothing is too much trouble. Communication throughout was excellent. They are warm, welcoming lovely people. The site is perfectly situated to explore Dorset and there is plenty to do in the area.. We had a very busy six days, visiting some amazing and varied places. We rebooked for the same time next year the day after we returned home and we are looking forward to returning
