Ease of arrival/welcome

Beautiful site, but odd experience

Just back from a two night stay at this CL. As all the other reviews have said, it is a beautiful and very peaceful site. Nothing to be heard except a few sheep and birdsong. Unlike other reviews though, we found communication with the owners quite poor – we didn't see them at all. They didn't welcome us and explain where facilities were – though this in itself is no big deal. At 8pm on our first evening however, just as we were relaxing and enjoying the tranquility, a man on a motor-mower drove right up to our van and mowed around it – within a metre of the van and very close to our power lead. Once he'd mown round the van, he drove off to mow elsewhere, then came back and did it again! He then mowed over the already mowed empty pitches for a few more minutes before leaving. I know this is a working farm, but as we were the only people on the site, and as two females, we found this really odd and the proximity to our van a little intimidating. I messaged the owner Jess about it, and to ask whether our van was in the way (although the site was empty, maybe we were on the wrong pitch?). I didn't get a reply. Such a lovely site, but the oddness of that experience has put us off returning.

Sorry you have felt the need to write this reply , Andrew and I work extremely long hours both off site and  have to cut the grass as and when time and weather permits us to . Unfortunatly this may mean when Andrew gets home from work which does vary due to the nature of his work

As a working farm we do also have times when there are combines and tractors working from early morning and throughout this is part of our job and as such is unavoidable.

As you arrived fairly latei i had messaged you to explain where everything was prior to your arrival , you were more than welcome to pop across to the house if you needed further instructions.

In relation to Andrew cutting the grass he cut the grass and then had a blockage and a full bag which he went off site to empty and came back to cut round the are where you have parked which had not been cut and due to the forcast didnt want dewy grass for anyone. I messaged to say pitch 1 for your arrival as this had been cut already but from memory you went on pitch 6 which had not been cut and was rather long,  You were more than welcome to come across to bring this to our attention but didn't you could have emailed or messaged your grievance but again chose not to .

I can assure you no offence was meant , but we are both slightly taken aback with the inference made over the fact you are 2 females ! We do not ask for details on who stays with us as we want everyone to visit to have a nice time .

Thank you for response

Hi, thanks for the reply. There must be some confusion, we arrived mid-afternoon, we’d received no instructions on where to pitch. Mowing so close to our van was definitely odd, he could’ve just said hello and explained that it needed doing - that’d have been friendlier.

as explained the grass was cut due to length , and of course you were more than welcome to pop out an d ask my partner ANDREW and say hello , to be friendly ! Luckily , not had any issues prior to this and luckily a very busy season lies ahead many thanks once again for your response .
