A good CL

An enjoyable 4-night stay with blue skies, red kites and rabbits in abundance. The CL is a large and level three-acre rectangle of well-cut grass with spaced out electrical points along one side away from the local road. The CL is screened from the road with shrubs and established trees and overlooks a large adjoining field that also has established trees and leads to the Thames. There is no immediate access to or view of the Thames from the CL. The local road from Burcot into Dorchester is relatively quiet. Dorchester, where there is a small co-op, and its Abbey are delightful and can be reached easily on foot or even quicker by bike. The small Abbey museum which is free and the Abbey tea room/garden are a must to visit. The Thames footpath is a short walk across fields from Dorchester and can be explored in either direction over any distance which is a highlight of the area. There are bus connections to Oxford and elsewhere but we didn’t use them. The owner – Andy – was very friendly and met us on arrival with a combination code for the gate. He was a mine of information on the local area. We would definitely use this CL again.

A very well run CL

We stayed at this lovely CL for 6 nights in Early June 2019. It's easy to find if you follow the directions in the sites directory. You are asked to call the owners mobile 15 minutes before arrival. This lets the owner, Andy, get to the access gate so that he can open it for you, and give you the code for the combination padlock. Andy is a really nice, friendly guy, and is happy to share his wealth of local knowledge too. The field is large and mostly flat, and the EHU's have been updated to 16amp this year. There are many places of interest nearby, and although there isn't an information shed, Andy is always around, and he can give advice on many subjects, from historical information, where to eat etc. We would definitely recommend this CL to any member.

Great Site in a beautiful area

Lovely spacious site with easy access. Andy was very welcoming, meeting us at the gated entrance on arrival. Provided lots of useful advice and history on the local area and had also arranged some excellent weather for our stay. Many thanks Andy, we will be back.

Excellent C.L.

This C.L. seemed to tick all the boxes for a visit to Oxford - 16 amp hook -up, not sloping, 10 minutes to the bus stop for Oxford (buses approx. every 20 minutes), loads of space between vans, countryside location and easy access. It did not disappoint. In addition the welcome from Andy on arrival was really appreciated, as was his time spent with us talking about things to do in the locality, and his regular checks to make sure everything was O.K. The wildlife was very interesting too. I would highly recommend this site to friends and other members.

Great site, pleasant surroundings with extremely helpful owner.

Our first time on this quiet, tranquil site. We did have trouble finding it initially however the owner guided us on the phone and waited at the entrance to ensure we found our pitch. The site is well maintained and the owner gives a helpful info sheet which identified wildlife that may be seen around including red kites, fascinating. The owner came at various times throughout or stay usually with his lovely dog, Evie to see if we needed any more information. He advised of several places of interest and to eat including a waterside restaurant. Oxford and Abingdon extremely accessible. Would not hesitate to visit again at his very reasonable secure site. One of the best CL sites we have ever visited. many thanks to Andy and hope to see you soon.

Lovely few days away

This was a lovely site. It is within easy walking distance of the little village of Dorchester upon Thames which is a quaint little place and beautiful walks along the Thames. Burcot Brook lodge itself is lovely and quiet with plenty of wild life and space for dogs to run around. Andy was there to greet us ,He helped with hook up and explained all about the area. it was so lovely to sit having lunch whilst seeing the rabbits and deer in the same field. Will certainly return...Thanks Andy!

peaceful setting

Just returned from a weeks stay at this wonderful cl,a very friendly welcome from the owner Andy, who was very helpful with local knowledge and always had time for a chat with you when walking his dog Evie. This site is well positioned to visit the towns of Oxford,Wallingford and Henley on Thames and for those who wish to use the buses to these places the bus stop is only a short walk away. The lovely village of Dorcester is 20 minutes walk away with many pubs, store and its Abbey is well worth a visit. We will return to this cl if visiting the area again.

A lovely little site!

Just home from a couple of nights at this fabulous site. Only fifteen minutes drive from Oxford, but it seemed further due to the peaceful countryside location. Very easy to book, and Andy welcomed us with helpful information about the site as well as sharing a wealth of knowledge about the local area. A basic site in terms of facilities, but this meant it was very peaceful, and there were generous spaces between pitches. Lots of wildlife - rabbits, squirrels, woodpeckers and red kites. What we loved most about this site was the ease of access and tranquil location, along with the handy location - only a short distance from the lovely village of Dorchester-on-Thames, and a pub only five minutes away on foot in the other direction. We rarely write reviews, but felt this site was worth a mention. Thanks, Andy - we'll definitely be back!

A well located little gem.

A lovely gem of a CL. Well located for visiting Oxford and the surrounding area. Level well kept grass with freedom to pitch as you like. Lots of space and wildlife. Andy keeps the site beautifully and is a mine of local info. No hesitation to recommend the site.
