Lovely site.

Exactly as advertised. Clean and tidy with friendly, helpful and informative owners. Perfect for our needs and fairly priced. Superb community run CAMRA pub just a 10 minute walk.

A very peaceful site with good amenities

We had a 3 night stay on this site and found it to be a very peaceful site with very good amenities. The shower and toilet were fine, the bins well positioned and the water easily accessible. Several people used the site for a 1 night stop over before heading to the ferry, but Mr Taylor positions them nearest to the entrance/exit of the site and those of us staying longer further in, therefore no one is inconvenienced by early morning departures. The site is ideal for visiting Harwich and Dovercourt, and has a community owned pub a short hop away. We felt this site to be very good value for money at £20/night including the toilet and shower (there is an honesty box for the shower with a suggestion of 50p per shower). Well worth a visit.

Well located CL for Essex Coastal Towns and Harwich Ferry

This is a very good CL with a very helpful owner who greeted us on arrival and advised on a suitable pitch for our stay. For those travelling to Holland by Ferry this is an excellent location for overnight stay either before or after your trip because Harwich (Parkstone) Ferry Port is only 5 miles away from the CL. It does, however, mean that there are quite a few pitches that are occupied for single nights with early morning departures. Such is the peacefulness of the site that we didn't notice the comings and goings other than by the occupied and then empty pitches. There is a single Toilet and Shower but even when all pitches were full we never experienced either being occupied when we wanted to use the facilities. There are good facilities for water, grey water and Chemical Disposal together with bins in which to sort other rubbish. Walton-On-The Naze and Frinton-On-Sea are within easy reach of the site for quiet beach visits or the is also Claction-On-Sea if you want something more 'Upbeat'. Landguard Fort (Felixtowe) is well worth a visit and is easily reached using the Harwich Harbour Ferry Service (foot or bicycle) from the Ha'penny pier in Harwich. We had an excellent stay here and would certainly us the site if we visit the area again.

2 night stay

Just returned from a 2 night stay. Lovely site, very peaceful. Made very welcome by owners. The pitches have been increased in size because of current covid situation. Although it seemed there would be more than enough room in one field for 5 pitches, they are now divided between two adjacent fields so huge amounts of space for everyone. The only noise was from the birds and an occasional car. The church and graveyard down the lane really beautiful. Lots of good walking and places to visit. Definitely recommend and likely to return some time.

Weekend to meet sister

Excellent place to stay very welcoming and helpful We were meeting up with my sister who lives in Suffolk so midway Due to Covid track and trace details given as expected good space between vans and very clean toilet and separate shower room with outside light for the dark evenings. Information room and books to borrow or replace what a great idea for those who like to sit and chill in the glorious sunshine we had Will definitely recommend to family and friends

Our first ever CL - excellent!

This was our first stay on a CL, and it exceeded all expectations right from the moment we arrived. Roger was extremely helpful, the field is spacious and facilities very clean. We walked into the local village and had a lovely afternoon at the Maybush Inn - a collaborative pub which was saved by 130 of the local community, who now run it themselves. There’s a There But Not There soldier in the beer garden - I’ve always wanted to see one of these for real. We highly recommend this CL, which is so well located for the Harwich ferry... and have already booked our next stay.

Bank Holiday weekend

We stayed here over the bank holiday weekend, it all started ok, being met upon arrival and shown to our pitch. Wasn't very level pitch but was ok.. Was surprised to see more than 5 caravans / motorhomes over the weekend even though some were in the 'rally field' as its called.. It was not really a problem... the facilities were good and kept clean and tidy even though there were extra people using them. There was some work going on close-by and it would of nice to of been told / warned of some possible noise. Then on Sunday the noise became a lot closer and louder, with the noise of a mini-digger and a dumper all day ( till 6pm ) not to mention people shouting above the noise of the machinery.... not really what you want on a Sunday afternoon, especially when no warning was given.... On top of that the owners dogs were constantly yapping / barking and I think because of the noise they making they were un aware of this.. or didn't care !

Fabulous Stay

We arrived on 17 Apr 18 at the start of a wonderful spell of weather. The grass on the site was very wet however due to the awful weather which had preceded our stay. Roger used his 4WD vehicle to position our caravan for us as our car was struggling with the conditions - thank you so much. We stayed for six nights as we were visiting family and friends in the area and had a very pleasant relaxed stay. The shower is now included in the site fees and has been improved with a glass shower screen replacing the shower curtain of old. The towns of Harwich and Dovercourt, Manningtree and Colchester are all within easy reach and whilst the proximity of the ferry from Parkeston makes this site popular for one night stays, many are missing out on the local jewels. I would recommend this site to explore the local area as there is much to see and do.
