Used this great CL as an overnight stop on the 9th May 2017 before getting the early morning ferry from Harwich to Holland. Perfect location and simple, easy-to-find site. We were the only outfit on site so plenty of choice for pitching ! The site does slope a little in places but as we were the only ones, it was possible to pick a completely level position. The toilet / shower "block" was spotless and the information "shack" contained a number of books for exchange / purchase that kept us happy whilst in Holland ! The welcome was friendly and no bother to the owner, despite our evening arrival. Cannot comment on locality or beauty of surroundings, so unable to give 5* for these areas, except to say that the helpful owner directed us to the new Weatherspoons for some dinner at 9.00pm on a Tuesday evening - not world class cuisine, but decent food and a great choice of real-ales !When we next use the Hook of Holland route, we will definitely be back. Thanks for a pleasant stay - albeit very short !
Great find. Fantastic Owners
We decided to stay here on our way home.
We were met by the owner and taken to our pitch. We had asked for hard standing as the weather was horrible with torrential rain falling every night of our week away.
The owner had laid on an extra long power lead for us which meant we were allocated a very sheltered location on concrete.
The facilities here are really good and cleaned daily.
During the evening, a Motorhome arrived during a long period of heavy rain. The owner immediately went to their aid laying on extension cables to allow them to park in safety on hard standing not normally used.
A really impressive level of service and commitment. Well done. We'll be back.
Fanstatic Week
We have just returned from a lovely week here.
Really is a gem of a site. Lovely owners, very friendly, plenty of space, really helpful to have a small dog walking area on site. Plus there is plenty of opportunity to walk along public foot paths all from the site.
Facilities are good, always clean and tidy.
Lots to do in the surrounding area, Lots of people come and go for the ferry, so it felt like we had the site to ourselves most of the time!
Access is easy even if you have a long outfit, no weany roads to navigate.
Will definitely be returning!

A Great Place To Stay For The Ferry
We stayed here in July (I'm a bit late reviewing) for a night prior to an early morning ferry to Holland. The site was easy to find and we had a friendly welcome when we arrived.
The site is clean and well kept with the pitches slightly sloping. Its situation is great for an overnight stay to catch the Harwich ferry and there wasn't far to go for our early start the next morning. Reccommended and we will return I'm sure.
Good stop for Harwich Ferry
Nice CL - all pitches slightly sloping. Perfect location for Harwich ferry which is about 15 mins away.
Found the site to have a "rally" field next to the "CL" field, which also had a few vans on. This was definitely not a rally (we have been on many!). Also, fairly expensive at £18 a night for our family (with 4 kids) and 50p extra each for a shower. Would recommend as an overnight stop for the ferry.

Friendly site
Easy to find. A warm and friendly welcome from owners who were very helpful. Grass areas very soft (March) so relocated to a hard standing area. Need wedges for wheels, all pitches slightly sloping. Used electric hook up and shower. Warm electric shower, a bit basic but roomy and clean. Perhaps charge £1 per night more rather than 50p per shower. Enjoyed our stay even though the friendly local neighbour started shooting at 7am on the Friday morning.

A little gem!
We chose this site as an overnight stop because of its proximity to Harwich Docks but wished we could have stayed longer. A lovely peaceful site with spotless facilities. We were met at the gate on arrival and shown to our pitch by the very friendly owners. We were given a rundown of where the facilities were and given a leaflet with useful information, including directions to the docks. Unfortunately we didn't have time to explore much of the area but there was an information room which seemed to cover lots of things to do and had a lovely little library where you could exchange books. This site thoroughly deserves the good reviews I had seen on here and other forums.
First visit to Essex
We were made very welcome on arrival and shown to our allocated pitch by the owner. Although the site is sloping your leveling blocks and bricks under the legs will see you firmly established. The shower and toilet block available were cleaned on a daily bases and a 50p donation in the honesty box was asked for if you used the shower. I am not to sure about this as you have paid for the electric and water supply to your van which you would use to heat and use the water to use in your vans shower should you wish. Apart from this the site is well maintained and kept clean and is used by a fair number of members on route to and from the ferry to Holland.

Early season half term break
Stayed here with my two children during the February half term. Lovely site though due to the time of year the grass pitching was out of bounds, so were pitched on an area of hardstanding next to some outbuildings.
Met by a very welcoming owner who even let me borrow a hosepipe to wash one very mucky caravan dirtied by the local farm traffic on and off the surrounding fields and roads.
Lots to do and see in the surrounding areas, plenty of beaches, towns and villages all worth a visit.
Would definitely return in the drier season as the grass pitching looks inviting.
