Excellent site let down by approach road.

This is a very peaceful site, just off the A1 and extremely handy for visiting holy Island. The pitches are level and well serviced and there is not a great distance to the electric hook up. There is the shower block on site but we did not use this as use our own facilities. The booking process was simple and all done via email, which actually meant for the duration of our stay. We didn’t see anybody at all. The only thing that really lets this site down is the horrendous approach road which is absolutely full of pot holes and although it is perhaps only half a mile, it took us over 10 minutes to negotiate. This really should have some attention, especially as the price is £25 per night. Otherwise, this is an excellent site in a really handy location.

Two nights in Feb

We ( family of 3) stayed for two nights in February. Booking was easy and communication was good with owners. Site was well kept and quiet. Showers and toilet sufficient ( if a little cold - but to be expected in February). Trainline is right next door, but in contrary to what others have said, it didn’t disturb us at all. Easy to access the Holy island and would come back. Little expensive, but it is what to be expected these days.

Noisy

We have just spent a week at Brock Mill Farm. Having read all the reviews prior to booking we decided to take a chance and book, primarily because of its location to Holy Island. Access to the site is easy but the track is half a mile long and dusty when dry. We met the owner once on our arrival when I queried our pitch due to its position and size and that was more by luck as she just happened to be at the site. Pitches are hard standing and level and are basically at the entrance to the farm. There are 2 clean toilets with showers if you choose to use them. Showers £1 a time. Our biggest issue was the noise. The main east coast railway line is around 500 meters as the crow flies from the site. Trains run virtually 24 hours a day, regularly between 5am and 11pm, and freight trains as and when overnight. There is also a lot of building work going on at the site. Buildings being converted to holiday lets. Builders lorries, and vehicles coming and going from around 7 am daily. Overall, good location but noisy. Unfortunately we will not return.

Small, cosy welcoming site

A tranquil spot ideal for getting out and about... Holy Island, Berwick upon Tweed, Bamburgh (Grace Darling Museum), Seahouses all Close by and worth a visit. Helen greets you with such warmth and together with husband Stuart make your stay pleasant. The site is cosy and quiet with now the addition of new toilets and showers. Walks from the farm good and particularly so if you have dogs. We shall be back. Thank you Helen & Stuart.

Tranquil.

Very peaceful site. Building work going on but not disrupting. Helen the owner was very helpful and kept in touch via email to inform of pitch number. A long drive so long as you take it slowly no problem. Very quiet, no road noise.

Lovely little site

After reading some of the reviews I was a bit dubious about booking, but so glad I did. IGNORE THE NEGATIVE COMMENTS Lovely peaceful little site. We have a motorhome just under 8metres in length and stopped on site 6 which was great. Great communication with Helen the owner via email, who also runs the farm and has been busy with lambing. There is clearly a lot of renovation going on on site and from what we could see, there is going to be showers onsite and some of the buildings turned into holiday let’s, but no noise to speak of. Road leading to farm is long and a bit dusty and not recommended for speed freaks, but who’s rushing? You are supposed to be on holiday 🤷🏼‍♀️.. and very few bumps and no potholes we encountered. In a lovely spot right off grid. Ideal for holy island, close to Berwick upon tweed .. We have stopped on lots of sites up and down the country and this is in our top 10.. we will be back 😍😍

Just the Job

Having read some of the reviews after we had booked this site for a week, we started to think perhaps we had made a mistake and considered shortening our stay. Glad we didn't. Yes the track is quite long and dusty if you travel quickly but the potholes are more like undulations so approached with care they are not a problem. To be fair I have travelled on adopted roads which give greater concern because of their poor state of repair. Yes it is a working farm so expect some farm machinery to be active. Even with the building works on the cottages in progress we did not find it obtrusive. Yes there is a railway line reasonably close by but once again we did not find it obtrusive. The site is compact with no expansive views but it is surrounded by quite high hedges which give some shelter from the strong winds that can sometimes be experienced so close to the North Sea coast. Also on the plus side this site is well placed to visit Holy Island and many other places of beauty and interest far too numerous to mention. Finally if you are fortunate enough to bump into Stuart or Helen you will meet two friendly, outgoing people who really care about the facilities they have provided and also make you feel welcome. All in all a good stay and one we would be happy to recommend. Fred and Jan Brown

Good site

Enjoyed our stay at This CL. Plenty to see and do in the area although we were disappointed with our visit to the Holy Island/Lindisfarne due to the amount of tourists, perhaps limiting numbers would help. Great area for walking and cycling. Didn’t find any problems with the farm driveway or the East Coast mainline but there is a lot of building work taking place. If this new Accommodation is holiday lets Then it could become a busy site.

Handy location but........

We have to agree with the previous two comments (Small230 and P3T74) about this site. It is easy to find off the A1 and is very handy for Holy Island, Berwick and Bamburgh. No dragging your van down narrow lanes. However the farm driveway is long ( half a mile on my trip meter), very dusty and full of pot holes. Best negotiated at a walking pace if you value your van. The pitch sizes are adequate apart from pitch 2. If you put an awning up you end up carefully squeezing your car between your van and the awning on pitch 3. Having viewed the site on Google Earth we were aware that there would not be any stunning views, just the farm building opposite so there was no disappointment on that score. We never saw any of the owners during our stay but they were very pleasant to deal with on the phone when booking. There was building work going on whilst we were there and I feel that perhaps we should have been made aware of this when booking. The pitches are alongside the track which is a thoroughfare running through the site, and like the access track, it is very dusty. Vehicles passing through the site churned up dust and we were down wind so got covered in it. We have stayed on CL's much better than this one for less money, but the pitch fee seems to be around the going rate for this area at present. Clearly the area is enjoying a tourist bonanza and electricity prices being what they are also means a higher price. The East Coast main line runs fairly close to the site and trains are frequent. They didn't bother us as we live close to the West Coast main line so are used to it. It may be a problem to some. You pay your money and you take your choice.

Good location for Holy Island but..

No welcome of any kind or sign of the owners during our stay. Driveway access is poor. No view on site and very small pitch space. On a weekday building work starts early and vehicles are driving across the front of the pitches. Would not recommend but unless you just want a base for Holy Island.
