Lovely views!

Stayed here for a 6 night break recently, have to agree with a previous reviewer, the sign to the CL is missing and we went too far along the road which is very narrow, it was very difficult and stressful to turn the van around, the owner clearly needs to address this issue. That apart the site is in a beautiful setting with lovely views and the facilities were spotless - the only reason we wouldn't come here again is the price, it is very expensive compared to other CL's in the area. The owner was very friendly and helpful though.

Comment from The Caravan Club:

The CL Owner has been in touch as he would like to thank you for your comments and address your concerns. The road sign to which you refer is the property of the Highways Authority so unfortunately the CL owner has no jurisdiction over this issue. The CL owner is not aware of any other sites in the local area offering the same level of service and facilities, which includes hardstanding pitches, 16amp EHU and a drinking water tap on each pitch, for a lower price. I hope this information is of help and thank you again for leaving a review.

Stunning scenery

This was a fantastic site - very peaceful. The facilities are very well maintained and the owner is very welcoming. Only slight moans were - the directions are misleading as the signpost referred to is now missing and the road you must turn up has a warning that there is a width restriction without it being clear you will turn into the site before the restriction. Also the slope into the sites driveway off the road is very steep and, having a long van we managed to ground the van and remove a few inches of tarmac (thankfully without damage to the van !) so take care if arriving in the dark. But all the above could have been avoided if the sites telephone number is responded to - it just redirects to an answering machine where you are told all bookings should be made online. Tried leaving a message but it didn't get a response. So needing help after a long journey to try and find the site without getting stuck in width restriction could have been avoided if we could have actually spoken to someone. Having said that I actually asked if they would consider storing the van because I would love to stay here every weekend - so if you ever do think about it Phil please ring me !! Will definitely be back .

FOR OUR FIRST CL VISIT, BAR HAS BEEN SET HIGH

After purchasing a caravan in September, this site was our first caravanning and CL experience. We arrived for a weekend away and didn't really know what to expect but what a fantastic trip we had. The site is lovely and quiet and the owners very welcoming.  The facilities were high standard, pitches are well maintained, walks right on your doorstep - recommend the 40 minute walk through the woods to The Hare and Hound pub if you have dogs, or even if you don't !! Would definitely be re-booking . Bow-hill Farm has set the bar very high.

The Best CL I have stayed at.

This is the best CL I have stayed at. Facilities excellent. The toilets and shower area is modern, clean and spacious. They are also heated. A lot of thought and investment has gone into this CL. Plenty of water supplies and the pitches, of which there are 5, have plenty of room on them. The WIFI was a bonus being free and having a good reception. There are so many places to see in the area as well. It is the highest fee that I have paid for a CL but the time spent here was worth it. I even added on an extra day at the end.

Relaxing, quiet break.

We spent the week here. The individual site was good size with the bonus of individual water supply which saved us refilling water containers.  Facilities were clean, well maintained and a bonus with the washing machine and tumble drier.  We had our dogs with us and it was easy to take them for a walk from the site. The whole site was peaceful at all times with the noisiest sound from the birds squabbling in the trees and the occasional light aircraft. Owners were welcoming and relaxed and friendly. Would recommend this site if you need to wind down from a busy life and relax. The shop in Harting was a gem with a good stock of homemade products i.e bread, sausages and basic stock if needed. Worth the extra cost for the excellent facilities and peace and quiet.

Blissful peace and quiet

Blissful peace and quiet. Lovely spot; great views across fields to Portsmouth and Isle of Wight. Generous pitch size, own tap. 2 loos in new cabin plus electric shower; v clean and tidy. Wonderfully peaceful place; v relaxing - just as a holiday should be. 10 mins drive to Goodwood Festival of Speed, easy to reach Chichester and Petersfield. But mostly great countryside and fresh air.

Idyllic!

A beautiful site with wonderful views across the South Downs.  The on-line booking and associated web-site is a real plus.  The site facilities are first class too and the site owner is to be congratulated for making such a significant investment and for keeping the site in such great condition. Pricing is on the high-side for a CL but understandably so. The real test is value for money and here the site definitely wins. All in all we couldn't fault anything.  We will be back

Back Again!

We stayed here last year and just had to come back. The site is even better now it has matured.  The grass is well cut, the 'roads' nicely gravelled, water points for each pitch, a better grey water waste disposal, washing machine & drier in the beautifully kept shower and toilet block. The site was quiet too - no noise apart from the birds and occasional light aircraft.  We honestly struggle to understand what there is not to like.  Cost wise we think is good value for money in relation to commercial and Club Sites without serried rows of 'vans to look at.  Try it and judge for yourself. If you don't like it, and do not want to return, then I guess we stand more chance of getting in when we want to go!

LOVELY PEACEFUL SITE

Just come back from a lovely weekend at Bow Hill, You book online which is great, also pick your pitch, (we picked pitch 3), all of which are hardstanding, with your own water supply. The owner is very pleasant, but not instrusive, The views are lovely, footpath from site to beautiful woodlands. The showers and toilets are immaculate, some people may find pricey, we feel it is the best cl site we have stayed on so far.

Value for money?

We booked this campsite at the last minute as, for a number of reasons, we chose to cancel a previous booking we had made at another CL in the area. This CL was the only one in the area that had an available pitch. After the weekend though, we had the place mostly to ourselves. Due to the very high fees charged we had very high expectations of this CL. From pitch 5 where we were there are lovely views and at first it was very quiet. However a couple of days later the wind must have changed direction and we were surprised to be able to hear road noise and were puzzled as to which road it was we could hear as the traffic sounded near enough a constant stream. It wasn't loud enough to be a nuisance, just surprising when it had previously been so quiet and other people had commented on how peaceful the site is. Also, due to being in Sussex, there is always the noise of aircraft in the distance, but it's very low level and after a while you don't notice it. The first jets of the day, however, start taking off/landing at 5.30am. One noise that did grate somewhat after a while was the amount of shooting going on in the near vicinity at all times of the day, sunrise to sunset, and even in the pouring rain! So all in all I’d only give the site three stars for peace and quiet. In the middle of the night though you could hear a pin drop. The wooden chalet that houses the loos & shower is new and pristine. The shower cubicle is nice and roomy but the door opens outwards and as a result the floor outside gets very wet. This wouldn't be a problem if the mop supplied was up to the job but I found I had to use some paper towels from one of the loo cubicles to mop up the floor properly. I like to leave facilities as I find them and it was very difficult to do so with just the sponge mop supplied. As a result, I only used the shower once, preferring to use our own facilities instead. Around pitches 4 & 5, and off the hardstandings, the ground is very rough looking, patchy, stoney and uneven, so not what you would call a lawned site. The black waste disposal is high off the ground, which is not a problem for emptying toilet cassettes but it is also signed that it is to be used for grey waste disposal as well. If you have the popular, flat, wheeled type grey waste container, that holds about 40 litres, it is very awkward to have to lift it that high to empty it. Free, available WiFi was a definite plus point as far as we were concerned but we were disappointed to find that we could not obtain a strong enough signal on pitch 5. I spoke to the owner who said he would speak to his IT advisor. The owner said he was surprised as there had been a good signal at that end of the campsite in April when the WiFi was set up and that it must be something to do with leaves on the trees. The surrounding area around the site is beautiful and there are footpaths to explore leading off from the site itself. The nearest pub is only a few minutes drive.

Comment from The Club:

Many thanks for leaving a review for Bow Hill Farm CL Site. The CL owner has contacted us as he wishes to address your concerns.

Firstly, he is sorry to hear you experienced problems with noise, this has not been reported as an issue before and this is normally a very peaceful site in the countryside, with Gatwick being 60 miles away.

To clarify, as per the site description, the site is not on a lawn but is located on fields. The CL owner would like to assure you he has taken note of your feedback regarding the grey water disposal and will be adding a ground level drain point. He will also be adding a signal booster for the Wi-Fi to pitches 4 and 5. Unfortunately the door to the washrooms has to open outwards as otherwise there would not be room to access the cubicle.

I hope this helps address some of your concerns and thank you again for taking the time to leave a review. Please be assured you can always speak to the CL owner whilst on site who is always happy to help so that members have the best possible time at their CL Site.
