A great base for exploring the Machars and the Rhinns of Galloway and the southern part of the SWC300

We spent 15 nights on this new CL in September 2024 and were delighted with everything about it. It's a peaceful place with great views and well placed for exploring this beautiful but under visited part of southern Scotland. The owners are very welcoming and helpful. A visit to view their livestock is encouraged and well worth the time on your break to see the cats, dogs, horses, chickens, ponies etc. The wildlife and birdlife you will see add to the experience immensely. We saw owls, red kite, buzzards, geese and even a murmuration of starlings. The site is situated off an single track road with passing places and you are only on this for less than a mile and we found access for our 8m twin axle caravan very easy. If you have non camping friends there is also a holiday cottage to let which sleeps 4 and is well appointed. Despite this site only opening in July 2024 it has a well established look with good hard standings and well maintained lawned areas serving each pitch. The best this thing is there are no extra costs for dogs or awnings etc- all this for £18 per night!. The electricity is metered so you only pay for what you use. I highly recommend you book soon as this site will become very popular. A huge thank you to Julie and Frank for making our stay so special and for their knowledge of the local area to help us decide what and where to visit in our all to limited time spent with them. Book early folks you won't regret it if you like peace and quiet in beautiful surroundings with congenial hosts and loads to see and do on your doorstep and so much more within easy driving distance on quiet roads. Thanks for the gooseberry chutney Julie it is delicious!
