Beautiful Northumberland Site

We stayed here for 4 nights during August. The site was easy to find, well maintained with plenty of room so that we didn’t feel cramped. The views of the countryside were lovely, with the Simonside Hills in the distance. John and Kathleen could not have been more welcoming or helpful. Although our visit was brief, we did manage to include a day at Cragside near Rothbury (well worth the time) there are many other places nearby that we would like to visit, which we shall do next time we’re here. Looking forward to coming back!

Great site, easy access, very quiet

Stayed here for 7 nights, easy access and fairly level, very welcoming host. Although alongside a road there is very little traffic and we weren't really aware of any road noise at all whilst staying there. Good access to a lot of places of interest, the east coast beaches are stunning and we would highly recommend Whitley Bay if you have a dog, most of the beach is dog friendly throughout the year compared to others, the beach is sandy and very long. It was raining for a few days at the site but we headed to the coast and enjoyed sunny days everyday. The coast is about 40 minutes drive. Plenty of good dog friendly pubs around we would recommend the Beresford Arms, about a 10 minute drive and the Widdrington Inn about 20 minutes drive, very dog friendly and welcoming. Having never stayed in Northumberland before we were very pleasantly surprised how clean and tidy the whole area is and how friendly the locals are. We will definitely be coming back to this part of the country.

Great spot

Received a warm welcome and immediately felt at home at this CL. It is well kept and the grass pitches are well spaced. It is quiet and peaceful yet easy to get around and enjoy the countryside. Nice walks from the site which our dog enjoyed and easy travelling if you want to explore further afield. We look forward to returning.

Escape before lockdown Mk2!

Very friendly welcome from Mr Charlton who was always happy to chat and help out if necessary. Good site, lovely views. Facilities all very convenient and easy to use. Good centre for visiting a number of local attractions. Despite torrential rain during night(s) we had no trouble at all getting on or off the site. We parked our car on the entrance driveway to avoid damaging the grass and to avoid potential problems. Our 5 night stay during storm Aidan and just before the 2nd Covid lockdown was most relaxing.

A great site for a peaceful holiday

We stayed for 7 nights at the end of August (2020). We had a friendly welcome from the site owner who was very helpful in every aspect of our stay. The site is very clean and well kept. It is surrounded by lovely countryside with some great National Trust properties to visit nearby. Overall, it is a great site for a peaceful holiday. We really enjoyed our stay and recommend this site for a countryside holiday.

Great site

Stayed for 5 nights after the site was reopened after the lockdown, very friendly welcome and the site was in good condition. Relaxing time with easy access to Bolam Lake, (just a 2 min drive) and great for walking the dog

A beautiful CL

Our stay 11/8/2020 to 19/8/2020. Good roads on approach to the site easy access onto site well sign posted. On arrival a great reception from John who made us most welcome. John and family very friendly and knowledgeable of the local area. The site is reasonable flat, easy to pitch, grass well maintained, drains quite well after a few down pours. Gate and taps cleaned daily. Bins emptied every day. No issues with electric, never tripped out. Chemical waste point located on the field with easy access and all on one level. Definitely recommend a stay here. We will certainly be back at some point in the future.

Slightly disappointed

We recently spent 8 nights on this site and unfortunately it didn't quite live up to our expectations after reading other reviews. Despite the site being approx an acre in size the pitches were all along one side which was also the lowest point and after a days rain the area behind our van resembled a quagmire. The grass although cut was still long enough to cover our shoes and not that tidy. Added to this we were unfortunate enough to have a family of 7 , yes seven, in one caravan on the pitch next to us over the weekend. By the time they left both my wife and I and our dog were left traumatised by the experience so peaceful and tranquil it was not. On the plus side the site is fairly well situated for visiting either the Northumberland countryside or the coast.

Lovely CL

Spacious and tidy CL in a well maintained field. Warm welcome from Mr Charlton who helped us (3 children aged 7, 5 and 3 and 2 adults) discover more of the fantastic local area. When we stayed it was very wet so we had slight difficulty getting off site. Only slight gripe, a but expensive for no wc. Would still stay here again if back in area.
