Never Again

After the hassle of the payment method (a minor complaint in light of what was to come) we drove down on the Friday afternoon. We were going be arriving just after five so phoned ahead to relay this information. The person on the other end of the phone was quite abrupt but did tell us just to find somewhere to park up, which we did. On arrival there was a note ordering us to report to the office the next morning. We couldn't as we were rushing to catch the once an hour bus. But as we had phoned ahead and had paid up front we thought no big deal. Leaving on Sunday morning I called in at the office to say goodbye. I was met with a string of abuse and shouting about us not following his orders. I tried to explain what had happened and how there had been a mix up. I even apologised for any confusion. All to no avail. Just more shouting. We have stayed at many sites and the owners have all been great. Not in a million years will I return here.

Response from the Club:

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We're sorry to hear about the concerns you had during your stay. Please allow us to address these.

Firstly, regarding the payment method, the site does offer options such as cheque or bank transfer to accommodate different preferences. They understand the importance of a smooth payment process for their guests.

Their standard procedure for guests arriving after 5 pm is to leave an information pack with a note to visit them the next morning.

Please note that any operational concerns can be raised with us as either feedback or a complaint for formal review by contacting the Club directly. Further details of our feedback, complaint and compliments procedure can be found on our website here: https://www.caravanclub.co.uk/contact/compliments-and-complaints/

We value your feedback and are committed to improving member's experience.

Peaceful Site

Lovely peaceful site, with a wonderful welcome. Location is a must for Bath, the park and ride is within walking distance and dog friendly, however it does also only take about an hour to walk in alongside the river depends how fit you and your dogs are, can also recommend the Boathouse next to the park and ride. As for the site, all pitches have water and electric and are very large with no restrictions re awnings etc, and so peaceful watching the wildlife yes the toilet disposal is up a hill but it is Bath after all, and yes entering the site can be tricky with parked cars but this is not the owners fault and a good test of towing capabilities

Convenient, but ...

Great location for exploring Bath. Access not easy, steep road, sharp turn, narrow central pathway. Site seemed overcrowded for a CL with six on site and our neighbours too close for comfort across central pathway. Huge information pack and a shop if you need stuff. Chem toilet disposal point up a steep hill but electric and water on each pitch.

Half Term Break in Bath

A great find... Merv and Lyn were very welcoming. Biggest welcome pack we have ever received. Easy access to bus routes - 4 & 4a to Bath, 6 minute walk away and are every 15 mins. Had a great few days will definitely come back again!

Good location but access to the site is rubbish

We have stayed here for 5 nights for its access to Bath. The access to the site is very tight made worse with parked cars on the narrow approach road. Some pitches are difficult to get on if your unit is a caravan and moreso f you don't have motor movers. Leaving the site is worse. I would recommend you don't use this site if you have a twin axle caravan without movers or a wider bodied caravan. Everything else is as per other reviews regarding greeting and nice people etc.

Comment from the Club:

Thank you for leaving a review and we are delighted that you enjoyed the location of the CL Site. The CL Owner has been in touch to address your concerns with regards to the entrance. They send a brochure which shows the layout of the site to all guests. Whilst there are sometimes parked cars on one side before access to the site, there is still space of 12 to 13 feet available. The driveway entrance measures 11 feet 6 inches, with 23 feet from driveway into the CL. The CL has advised that many double axle vans and small american motorhomes have used this site since they opened.

Great location however site in need of TLC!

Site in need of lots of TLC, looking really tired. It's a tight squeeze in and out with a caravan, some less experienced will struggle. Serviced pitch, which is good. Great information pack. Farm shop in owners conservatory. If location is key to you and you don't mind what the campsite looks like, you'll be ok. We were disappointed. Nice people though.

Comment from the Club:

We are delighted you found the location good and the serviced pitch. The CL has been in touch as he would like to assure you they take good care of their CL Site, which was inspected earlier in the year. With regards to the entrance, they send a brochure which shows the layout of the site to all guests. Whilst there are sometimes parked cars on one side before access to the site, there is still space of 12 to 13 feet available. The driveway entrance measures 11 feet 6 inches, with 23 feet from driveway into the CL.

Good stay in Bath

We arrived at the site slightly concerned given the previous 2 reviews. However, no problem siting the caravan. Lyn was there to welcome us with a comprehensive information pack and a friendly welcome. The site's main attraction is the convenience to Bath. Newbridge Park and Ride is a 10 minute walk away, which we used twice with our bus passes. We have used CLs for many years and we enjoy the variety of sites with their differences. If you want a standardised site with all facilties then Club sites are probably best suited.

Great CL hosts Merv and Lyn.

We needed a CL within walking distance of Bath centre for a couple of nights. If going to Bath again we would definitely stay here. When we arrived , Merv and Lyn made us very welcome and gave us one of the most comprehensive welcome/ info packs we’ve ever seen. Nothing was too much trouble. Merv walked down to the pitches and explained everything in detail. Each pitch has its own tap and hook up. The pitches are paving slabs, some a little uneven but almost level. We really enjoyed our stay and this couple are some of the nicest and most caring we’ve come across. Well worth a visit.

Great site and location

This is a great little site in an ideal location for exploring Bath. The owner is very helpful and gives you a bundle of local information on arrival. Their farm shop has the best fresh eggs at a very reasonable price. We walked into Bath from the site though there is a park and ride nearby. We will definitely stay here again!

great for Bath

We booked this site as we wanted to walk into Bath itself. This we did but due to the heat we decided to drive in the next time. The welcome from Merv was very personal and it was clear he had been doing this for many years. Yes the site needed a bit more TLC especially the grass cutting around the hard standings. Some pitches are way out of level. Our perception was that he liked to do everything himself and had done so for 30 years. Cannot fault the owners for enthusiasm and honesty. At £16.50 it was well worth it. Bath Marina is double that. Its' a CL after all. I would have been disappointed if we had been parked by the barn as were the previous reviewers. That would have driven us to a 50% negative review as does bad weather!! Check this before you book as it is a popular site.. The longer term vans were no problem to us and wherein fact the occupants were quite friendly. Not sure why there are 6 hardstandings for 5 vans. Lacock village and Abbey were well worth the visit and highly recommended. You can visit the village without paying for the Abbey, apart from parking. The travel directions are fine if travelling from the /north and do follow them. We came up from the south and headed for the A36 and the A431. BEWARE this route will take you into the Bristol LEZ. Check on the relevant website to see if you need to pay. Euro 6 is fine. Ours is Euro 5 but no details on the Government website so exempt. You have up to 6 days to pay the £9 charge. So check and check again. Merv recommended that you travel via Frome. Ring them for advice if any doubt. That info needs to be on the CAMC website. Would we stay again? Yes at the cost and close proximity to Bath. Many CL's are upping their game and it is now a competitive market with fees rising way above £20.
