Give this one a miss

Yet again we find an over subscribed site. When I booked Merv said that only the 'barn pitch' was available and would that be OK? I assumed I was still on the CL. No. We paid £16.50 per night using the CAMC introduction to be shoved in a dark tight hole next to the green barn and adjacent rubbish dump. From the hab door we could see bottles of old cooking oil, twisted metal, weeds, a broken car etc. We had no use of outside space but use of services. We had electric, water and chemical toilet disposal. On the second night we moved onto the CL site where there was a spare pitch. Merv came out and shouted at us to move from the balcony of his house, some 70 yards away. It would have put 6 vehicles on his site and he didn't want complaints. He seemed to think his was doing us a favour letting us park where he did. I would have preferred to have been told the CL was full and we would have booked elsewhere. I thought I was booking a CL. I was not! As for the actual CL. It's scruffy with a tight entrance difficult for caravans. The recycling area was good. Water and electric on each pitch. Pitches of broken paving slabs that are level crossways but not fore and aft. Loud peacock in the morning. Lots of road noise. Other caravans being permanently lived in adjacent. Have to pay in advance by cheque plus wants you to include a SAE so they can send you local info. Plus having done that you must go up to introduce yourself at the farm shop. I didn't find the owners accomodating in the slightest and they weren't bothered we were unhappy with the sitaution. There are better places to stay in Bath near the park and ride bus service. Don't bother with this one.

Great Site for Accessing Bath on Foot,Bicycle, or Car

We chose this site as the only one genuinely within Bath City. The site is blessed with mains water services on each pitch which is great news. The access drive is steep and the turn onto the CL site for longer caravan and car combinations is tight but achievable. Egress offers the same challenges. I would suggest this site favours the motorhome more than caravan but that said we are approaching 14m combined and were able with care to locate our pitch and settle. The site is level but in March was heavily waterlogged around the flag stones meaning the awning carpet was below the water level when walked upon - but that is what its for!! The welcome was a very thorough briefing by Merv with a comprehensive welcome pack leant out for the duration of the stay (1 week). The site is high up relative to Bath but walking into town is easy along the main roads or via the river and canal bank. Easy access to the NCN and cycle routes for the 2 tunnels and Bath scenery. A great location for the fit who want to self-propel themselves. Less fit should not underestimate the hills. Merv and Lynn needed an approximate 60% deposit on booking with the balance due on arrival. The site is functional and for us gave us the access to the city we wanted both on foot and bike. Car parking was plentiful albeit the local council parking payment methods were difficult to follow and we struggled to get a signal in order to pay the CP charges!! Overall for a CL site in a popular place like Bath with mains water this is a little gem of a site as a base to spring from. Aesthetically bland but peaceful with local amenities and shops relatively close. Hosts were available and as a smallholding there were local supplies they could supply. We hope tol stay there again in the future. Thank you both

Close to Bath

Compact site with EHU and fresh water on each pitch and each pitch has a hardstanding of paving slabs to the width of a caravan. Helpful owners who run an on site farm shop with fresh duck eggs! The site is close to Bath and you can walk in via the river path.

Excellent for Bath and Bristol

We were looking for a site close to Bristol and as I have never been to Bath we decided on Bicknam. It was so nice to find a site that doesn't charge extra for a third adult, awning and our car that we always travel with the motorhome. Very annoying when people have a car with a caravan but don't get charged it is one of my pet hates. So we arrived on the Friday afternoon to a lovely welcome and a massive welcome pack/leaflet's. Everything was explained from elsan point to the recycling ( never seen such a comprehensive area each box labelled plus food box and dog poo). Friday evening we followed the directions to the boat house pub where we thought we would have dinner, unfortunately due to COVID they were two chefs down and were not excepting walk ins for food so we had a few drinks and went to plan b an Indian from masala in Weston who delivered to the camp site definitely recommend. Saturday we walked along the river into Bath and would recommend getting the bus back especially if ladened down with beer purchased!. Sunday we spent the day in Bristol another superb day eating in turtle bay and a visit to the quayside. Had a fabulous stay and we will definitely return in the summer hope we can get in! Just be careful if you have an older motorhome and take it into bath ( we don't and didn't ) due to the clean air charge which Merv did tell us about when booking. Don't forget to have a look at the farm shop we had potatoes and eggs which were lovely.

Jiffy motorhome

Recently returned from our summer holidays where we stayed on this delightful site. Fabulous welcome from the owners with a brilliant bumper pack filled with local knowledge, maps, bus timetables etc. Excellently situated just along the road from Bath city centre. So much to see and do. We will definitely return.

Great CL for visiting Bath

The owners are very friendly and keen to please; check-in is well organised. It's not a very big site with hard standing and grass, but quite pleasant nonetheless. There is EHU and water on each pitch and the greywater waste is down one end - you'll need a flexi pipe since there's no drive-over grid - we didn't bother for our 3d stay. It's a very pleasant 2 miles walk down into town (we got a taxi back up!), or the river Avon is 5 mins walk away and that has a cycle path all the way into Bath. This is our second stay here and will certainly stay again next time we'll visit Bath. Van Blanc

Excellent

No problem booking in was greeted by Merv who showed us where everything was and have us a really good arrival pack.As we arrived at school closing was a bit difficult in getting into site so next time will avoid arriving between 1500 and 1600 .Bus stop is a 5 minute walk from site if you catch the number 19 which runs every hour into the centre of Bath .Site is small and quite ideal for couples not much for children to do.

Lovely CL site very close to Bath & cycle routes

We had a warm welcome from Merv & Lynn with a fantastic large welcome pack of leaflets. They have a great farm shop with fresh vegetables and eggs too. We spent 4 nights here end July 2020. Lovely well maintained neat site with water and electric on the pitches. Not a big site but no problem for our 23ft MH, but there is a slight slope on entering gates. Waste water located at end of site has limited access for a MH as wash pipe directly adjacent to the drain. Easy access to Bath by bus or medium walk. Nice short walk into local village. Lovely walk over Cotswold way very close to site. We also used the local cycle routes to Bath and Bristol and the famous 2 tunnels. Well worth a visit.

Convenient location for Bath tourism

Spent 3 nights in January 2020. It lost 1 star for not charging what is advertised The entrance for the site is up a hill in a layby where cars park, so is quite narrow. The site itself has a single access path to the pitches and no way of turning around. There is no drive over waste disposal as described. The CDP is up a steep slope near the owners bungalow. The pitches do each have an electric point and a water tap. Though are quite closely spaced. It is next to a secondary school so there is some noise during the day. We received a warm welcome from the owner and a very large welcome pack of brochures. The site itself is quite tight and the hardstanding just wide enough for a motorhome. The pitches are flat but not level, a single set of levellers might not be adequate .There were a number of other motorhomes that looked as if they were long term residents. The site is 2 miles from Bath and close to some bus stops so great for walking in. Driving out from the site proved problematic as we had to reverse out and overgrown bushes on the side scraped our van. The site is in need of some tlc.
