Fabulous little gem close to Chester!

We visited with our children (age 2 and 4) on May bank holiday weekend. We could not fault the site and will definitely return. My son asks every day when we can go again. We loved the location as it was close to the city centre; walking distance to the village where there are a few little shops and a nice pub and only 8 miles from the Ice cream farm (great for a day out with the kids) at Tattenhall. The horses in the field next to the pitches were a highlight for our children. We feed them and petted them everyday. The owner of the site was very helpful and let us walk around the farm and visit the horses in her stables and other fields too. We will definitely return and highly recommend this site.

AN IDEAL LOCATION

We spent 4 nights on this site just recently and found it the perfect location as a base for visiting all of the attractions in the area. Being 2 miles from Chester, Chester Zoo and the Park and Ride and only 10 miles from the National Trusts Erdigg Hall, it could not have been better. There were 4 units on site during our stay, all positioned on hard standing bases covered in grass, so space was a little limited with the grass pitches being out of bounds, due to the very wet weather experienced in the area over the previous month. There would be ample room for all 5 units under normal conditions. The site is very well maintained and the owner is very helpful and friendly, meeting you on arrival and ensuring that you know where the facilities are around the site. We hope to return to the area for a longer stay next year and will certainly stay at Belle Vue Farm again.

Lovely site

We stayed here mid August. Friendly greeting from the owner who also told us the best cycle route into Chester. Toilet facilities were basic but clean. We use our own anyway. Comments have been made that the hardstanding pitches are not obvious. Well they are very clearly labelled. What they are not is great big slabs of concrete but are hardcore with grass growing through. Does the job, ideal for motorhomes, and look better than slabs. Cycling into Chester was great. A short distance on very quiet roads then the rest on an old railway path. Excellent. Chester is beautiful. We will certainly go to this site again. At £12 a night so close to Chester I think this is good value.

Good value for a few nights stay

We stayed in our motor home for two nights so we could visit Chester before he headed onwards into Wales. It suited our purpose, quiet and peaceful and a short drive to the park and ride for the city. Only negatives would be that the hardstandings weren't that obvious and it would have been helpful if more up to date info on buses and walking paths to city etc were available for guests. But having done research before our trip I was aware the bus services are hourly and less frequent back to site later in day whereas park and ride very convenient indeed. The one at Broughton has area without height restrictions so ok for vans to park. If we wanted another few nights in the area would be happy to return but probably wouldn't stay for longer but only because I prefer a site with toilet and shower block!

Excellent Location

Great place to stay. Local pub just a short walk away. Chester is only a short drive away and Cheshire Oaks is just up the motorway. Nice quiet site. Just booked to go back.

Pleasant

If its a spotless sight with lovely manicured gardens your after then this is NOT the place.. but my family and I had a lovely time. Yes it took half an hour to find the loo and even longer to find the chemical disposal but we got there in the end. Cracking location for visiting Chester which is only 3 miles away and several good pubs for eating out close by. I think the Caravan Club should include a yes/no box in the reviews section for "Would You Return" as its the ultimate question in what you thought of a site and my tick would go in the Yes box for this one. One word of advice though - take the fact that the site advertises hardstanding pitches with a pinch of salt - it looks like these grew over about 10 years ago!

Could do better

We booked this CL firstly because of its location for a long week end to visit Chester and chose the CL because of the mainly positive review but frankly it's a bit scruffy and needs some TLC soon... The photo on the club site is very misleading shame.. Usual benifit of a rural farm CL are in fact just as described in the other reviews ... Honestly ? It could be better with little effort.. Water good quality. Phone reception great .. TV reception spot on ... LOCATION spot on.. Would we go back ? Probabaly not SORRY whoops forgot 6 vans 2 out of the 3 night we were there.. Not a problem to us but it may offend others

Well kept CL with hardstandings in interesting area

We have a motorhome which seems prone to dig into softer ground so in winter we usually look for a site with hardstandings. This one is ideal as the owner has laid out 5 pitches on well mown grass and more on hardstandings. Although the limit of 5 still applies it does mean that users have a choice. It also means that users don't necessarily have to arrive and leave at certain times as there is room for everyone during the day. Chester is easily accessible by bike. We used the A41 cycle track then along the Shropshire Union canal towpath. On another day we walked the 700 metres to a bus stop. Half hourly service. And you can use an English bus pass. This is a working farm with lots of horse activity, with its associated equipment. A very pleasant couple run the site. Good welcome, Recommended.

Book with confidence!

What a lovely CL! The site is adjacent to a farm and stables. It is easily accessed and kept very carefully by the owner. Water and EHU are all close to hand and Chemical waste sited discreetly. We wanted to visit Chester and this CL is ideally sited. Just across the road is the Chester Greenway a cycle/footpath straight into the city. A great getaway, a tranquil site to enjoy and easy access to a lovely city. Hope you enjoy your stay!

Good basic site

Stayed over a bank holiday and although all pitches were all full it wasn't visibly crowded due to bushes and trees screening areas. Friendly welcome and nice grass and views across fields. Slight background noise constant from nearby dual carriageway but cant be heard inside the caravan. Toiler facilities not the best but functional if you don't mind spiders! Good location and easy to get to Chester/Liverpool and surrounding areas. Previous reviews said site was scruffy but it wasn't evident on the CL pitches themselves, these were well kept, the area by the toilet and house is a stables and there a few items relating to this lying about and horse owners cars park there but you aren't directly looking at this so shouldn't be too intrusive.
