Excellent CL, welcoming and helpful owners and free Wifi a great bonus.

I can only confirm all the very positive reviews to say this is indeed an exemplary CL in every way. It is newly established and much expense and thought has been put into the layout and facilities, which are kept very clean and well organised, especially the toilet emptying point and recycling area. The level hardstandings are very well constructed. Len is very friendly and likes a good conversation, covering many aspects of the area, and was very helpful when we seemed to have a problem with the caravan, which actually corrected itself. Free WiFi was an very much appreciated bonus, still rarely offered on CLs. The location is peaceful, on a quiet lane along which we enjoyed walks to the local village Uploders, and although there is some traffic noise from the A35, its nearness meant very easy access to Bridport, Lyme Regis, Dorchester and Poole during our stay. Bridport is a fascinating town with many independent shops, while Dorchester occupied us for two days, visiting Hardy's Max Gate and the excellent Dorset Museum. The famous Dorset coast and path is also easily accessible from the site, at Burton Bradstock.

Fantastic

What a site, Just got back after spending 4 nights at Barn House Retreat and we wished we booked more, We got an email the day before as Len was going to be out telling us the pitch no and wifi password Yes Free Wifi and it was good speed as well, Len came round and introduced himself to us and pointed the waste and water points, always had time for a chat, Jess the sheep dog always came for a stroke. Great site and the area is brill and will be making a return trip in near future, Thanks Len, Linda and Jess

Excellent site !

We have just returned from a 5 night stay. The site was everything we wished for, from the level quiet site to the superb location for the section of coast that we wanted to explore. Len was the perfect host who told us everything we wanted to know, from walks to the best pub ! His companion Jess was the sweetest dog and we laughed every time we left the site as she rounded us up as though we were a flock of sheep. All round cracking site and holiday Thanks Kevin

Good location

Had a lovely ten night stay here and was made to feel very welcome from the start to end of it. We really liked the location being so handy to get into Bridport town and also the lovely beaches nearby. The children particularly enjoyed these. Also Jess the dog is so lovely and made us smile with her attempts to round everything and anyone up. We will definitely be back. Thanks Len and Sandra.

Perfect site

Easy access from A35. Site and pitches level, all with their own EHU and water tap. Peaceful and quiet site, with walks nearby. Ideal for the more mature traveller. Owner is very sociable and helpful and keeps the site spick and span. Information pack provided on arrival

A top class CL

Barn House Retreat CL is maintained to a very high standard. Everything – grass, pitches and facilities are in perfect condition. All pitches are hard standing and level, have close access to EHU and a water tap. The chemical disposal point is one of the best designed that we have seen and rubbish is kept inside a barn with re-cycling points. Excellent WiFi is available (code provided on arrival) and the TV signal is good – although, strangely, the newer type of stick TV aerial on our caravan, did not pick up the signal despite re-tuning several times. Len Vickery lives in the house at the entrance to the site and is very helpful and informative. Thank you Len, for your welcome and for a very enjoyable visit. We know where to come next time we are in the area.

Excellent CL, even more excellent host

We spent 10 very enjoyable days at Barn House Retreat in May 2021. The site has not been open for long and Len has taken the opportunity to get everything right first time, from the on pitch water and 16A supply to the super clean disposal and recycling facilities. There is even an EV charging point - clearly thinking ahead. The site is a few hundred metres from the main road which made access for our 5th wheel very easy, there is some low road noise when the wind is blowing in the wrong direction but it was not really noticeable. Len was more than helpful in getting us on the most suitable pitch when we said we were bringing a 5th wheel. From meeting us at the gate and guiding us as we reversed onto our pitch, Len was super helpful, even taking some deliveries and printing off some documents for us - beyond the call of duty. We had our Springer Bertie with us who became great friends with Jess the farm dog. There is some great walking to be had from the site with a footpath running from the entrance. Local villages and pubs are within walking distance as are some of the Iron Age Forts that top the local hills. Needless to say we will be returning at some point to continue exploring this area.

Absolutely perfect

This is beyond doubt the perfect site for us. Len welcomed us to his lovely site and made us feel at home straight away. If you like walking/cycling in stunning countryside then this is the site for you. If you like exploring further afield then there's plenty of places to visit within a few miles of the site. If you just want to relax and enjoy the peace and tranquility of the countryside then this is definitely the place for you. We have put this CL at the top of our list to visit again. Thank you Len and Sandra for a great reasonably priced, clean, spacious and well thought out CL.
