Very Good CL

Just returned from a two week visit to this C.L. along with some friends. We were made welcome by the owner and very easily sited. Site is very well kept and facilities clean and well positioned. Surrounded by beautiful countryside and when you go off site and plenty to see and do. Two good pubs within easy reach. Both owned by the same Landlord. The Fox and Rabbits on the A169 is the larger and busier of the two but did good food and drink. As the previous review said the Pub at the nice village of Levisham is very welcoming and served excellent food and a good pint. Not far from the towns of Whitby ,which is a good mix of harbour shops and the older part of town which is worth a visit ,.and also Scarborough which is much more Seaside town but also had an excellent Park, where we saw the Mock World war two battle with model ships on the lake. Plenty of good walking and close by to Pickering for decent shops and Market. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Thank you to the Owners

Excellent site

Recently spent 5 days on this lovely site, the owners were very pleasant and knowledgeable of the area giving us information to help make our stay even better. The site is well kept and beautifully quiet with a lovely walk next to the site entrance. Having dogs this was great and if you are feeling energetic the village of Levisham is about 30 mins walk, a bit steep in places but worth it as the Inn serves good food and a decent pint. We would highly recommend this site and fully intend revisiting.

Whoo Whoo!

Lovely CL, nicely presented, with excellent walking and scenery. Grass mown short, flat, with usual basics, (EHU, water and waste disposal). Lockton is a lovely village on edge of moors, church very interesting if you like history. What made this special for us was the hooting of trains across the Newtondale Valley! Fabulous drive down to Levisham Station (very steep!) and we watched steam trains every day. Easy to get to Pickering, Whitby, all over NY Moors. Good dog walk adjacent. Shop in village sadly closed.

Simply the best

This CL is an absolute gem. It is situated in a small village with easy access to beautiful countryside, forests and picturesque villages and towns. It is a perfect location for walking and cycling or simply unwinding and relaxing. The site is very peaceful and is well maintained and spacious. The owners are very friendly and accommodating. I quite agree with the previous reviews except the one posted by 'Wandering Rover'. Can't agree with a word they said!

Open your eyes and See!

I've just opened this page to make a booking, having stayed at this site an numerous occasions. I don't know what Wandering Rover wants from a site but I MUST take issue with his review. From our caravan window, we can see far into the distance over the North Yorkshire Moors and if you wish you can easily walk there via Levisham, right into the moors and around the Hole of Horcum. Levisham Station on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway is about 45 minutes walk (although very hilly), Thornton le Dale, with what I believe contains the UKs most photographed cottage is about 3 miles away and earlier this year we watched young swallows perched on a fence only yards from our caravan being fed by their parents, franticly flying backwards and forwards. On an evening it is wonderful to listen to owls 'hooting' from the trees. If you have an OS map you will be amazed at how many walks are in this area. Ashfield is 70 miles from our home and is our default site whenever we want a break. As other reviewers have stated it is a short drive to Pickering, Whitby, Dalby Forest and many other places. Simon and Carol who own the site are extremely friendly, and I really don't know where this all encompassing list of rules is located. The site is well kept, the waste and chemical toilet area are always clean and have automatic lighting during the night. Faults? It's not open all year!

Superb CL

Recently returned from another very enjoyable week at this site, as I have done each year for almost 30 years. That fact alone must speak volumes for how I rate this site, but of it's many attributes, it's the sites superb location that stands out for me. Positioned as it is, well off the Pickering - Whitby road at the end of a quiet pretty village, located well for touring the moors by road, but most importantly for me, close access to some of the finest walking to be had anywhere on the NY Moors.

excellent CL

This is just what we want from a CL, flat grassy pitch with short grass and enough space so you dont feel overlooked, very peaceful at the far end of a quiet pretty village, with excellent access from the main road ( other end of village) helpful owners( brought in neighbours to assist newbie motor home owner while we were there). lovely walks from the site with walk descriptions available in the village, this meant we rarely use the car whilst stopping here. Easy access to Pickering which is well worth a visit. Easy drive to Scarborough and Whitby. also a good pub nearby ( pass it on the way from pickering ) which you can walk to if you want a drink. This is on our favourite list for a weekend break
