First time to North York Moors with our caravan.

Travelled up from Suffolk with ease A14, A1, off at York to Pickering and just 6 miles North in the delightful Village of Lockton. Greeted at the gate by the very pleasant owner and given a choice of pitch plus a full explanation of how everything operates on site. This spacious site is well screened by natural hedges to the North & West and being at the end of the Village it offers a peaceful and rural atmosphere. The location is ideal for the coast, the moors and the town of Pickering that has excellent shops for most of your needs. There are good walks direct from the site. We took the NYMR train from nearby Levisham Station to Whitby (an hour and a half of pure boyhood memories), the Coastliner Bus Service has a request stop just under a mile away on the main road. The pub at Levisham serves excellent ales and good food but is busy and pre-booking is recommended. In June when we visited, it is one of the best times to visit the RSPB reserve at Bempton Cliffs, just north of Flamborough Head (approx. 32 miles away - but well worth the journey) and do make use of the free entry for Club members. The site is ideal for couples like us (retired and looking for peace & quiet) and in our opinion it would not offer much by way of activities for children e.g. no play area, swings or other playing apparatus on site or in the Village. The owner keeps the site clean & tidy and is regularly cutting the grass. He is also keen that we all respect the environment by offering excellent recycling bins. My wife & I loved the area, the friendly approach of the owner, the quietness of the site and Village and will definitely like to return for another dose of Yorkshire air.

Perfect peace and quiet

What a gem of a site, if your after the quiet life, it doesn't get any better than this. Simon the owner is the perfect host. He's there if you need him, always ready for a chat. The 5 van site is on all grass, good access road to reach the pitches. Fresh water point, recycling, and waste bins all neatly behind some wood fencing. There isn't any loos our showers, but not a problem to us. It has fantastic Wi-fi also, all in for the £12-00 per night. A short walk into the village is the local tea rooms, very friendly people, great cakes, Will return next time i want my batteries recharging.

Great site in lovely location

This was our first stay on the site.Booking realy easy with good communication from owners throughout the booking process.Owners were away on arrival but good instruction on where to site where clearly marked on arrival.Lovely rural site just off main Whitby to Pickering road which makes it ideal to explore the North York Moors area. The site was very quiet and had everything we needed including electric, water.waste disposal and recycling.Very good TV reception and the free WiFi was good.Site is well kept.We will defiantly be back to this site in the near future.

Summer Time In Lockton

06 – 16 Aug 2016 We are on our first visit to this site. When we arrived we were met by Simon, the owner who pointed out our pitch and the locations of the facilities: WIFI, best TV reception, Water points, the recycling containers, and waste emptying point. During our stay, high season, the site was in excellent condition. We frequently sought the advice – “inside information” of the owners for the local areas. This proved to be very useful. We have enjoyed our time here helped by a good sleep in a very quiet area. Some useful facts: Lockton Village Tea Rooms 400 metres. Cakes are first class Dalby Forest – Great place for families walking and Mountain Biking. Go Ape Aerial with Zipwire. Bring your BBQ, sit on the provided benches. inset metal place for your BBQ on the tables. North York Moors National Park on the doorstep. North York Moors Railway – the Age of Steam. Coastal – Whitby 25 mins by car. Beacon Farm Sneaton Family run Ice Cream parlour and café. Over 20 flavours of ice cream made on-site on the farm and sold in a cafe, parlour and farm shop

beautiful location and warm welcome

2 night stay . A warm welcome from the owners despite the late hour of our arrival. Wide access gate from road. Large open grassed field with large pitches. Well marked out with information boards on where/how to pitch. Re-cycling area, Chem waste, drinking water suppply all seperate. Beautiful location , easily accesed from the Pickering to Whitby road Lockton village with great walks, Levisham, and North York Moors Railway nearby ( warning steep hill so be prepared if walking to the station ). Had a nice lunch at The Three Horsehoes at Levisham. 25mins drive to Whitby and 15 mins to Pickering. Good tv reception on site plus WIFI ( didnt use this but was strong signal ) . Very peaceful location. Would definitely recommend this very well kept CL. Thankyou to the owners - We will be back next year :)

Peaceful and beautiful.

Stayed here during a rather wet Half Term week and for the majority of the week was the only van on site.  The site is exactly as described, well kept and level although because of the heavy rain, was muddy in places. The village of Lockton is quaint and charming with some lovely places to walk the dogs. The Horseshoe at Levisham serves delicious food with a great welcome! This is certainly a site I would use again when I'm in this area.

Used many times.

Good location approx. 6 miles from Pickering for visiting this area of the country, warm welcome given from the helpful owner. Electric hook ups and good wi-fi coverage of the site. Over the past years been each year. Walk back through village to main road for bus to Witby or Pickering and beyond.

Just gets Better!

Left a review from a previous visit, and fully concur with all the comments from last reviews, again we had a lovely stay. This time we were able to take relatives with us, as Carol and Simon have added a lovely alternative to a B and B adjacent to the CL field. The garden room offers a spacious sleeping, showering, lounge and breakfasting option, and is especially suited to those either less mobile or with special needs as it has a superb wet room and luxurious furnishings. Holiday cottages are also available. Check out website for full details of all that is on offer. www.ashfieldcottages.co.uk Free wifi was included in the £11 per night pitch fee, making this a really great price to stay in this lovely location. Open early March to end of October.
