A beautiful location

Locality very very good. Views from our pitch of Cader Idris were stunning, the brief walk through the woods to the spectacular Mawdach estuary were a delight.  The welcome was none existent , only when we returned home did we find a letter asking not to arrive before 15.00hrs. The only pitch available was good except the grass was very long in places and looked extremely rough, this was supported by the discovery of the waste products of previous visitors at the rear of the pitch. A quick mowing and inspection would have overcome these problems. Facilities were at the farm house which was exactly 400metres away not the advertised 200m (not even as the crow flies).

Wonderful Stay at Abergwynant Farm

A great weekend stay at Abergwynant Farm. Stayed in the Paddock, a great pitch with EHO, aerial point and water tap. Met by Matin who help us on to the pitch, definitely need a motor mover as entrance to paddock is quiet tight. A lovely warm Welsh welcome from Doris and Lynne at the main house.  Site is ideally located for walking , a stone throw from the Mawddach Trail, 3.5 miles to Doldellau a lovely pub George 3rd (2miles ) and a lovely 7 mile walk to Barmouth via the old Toll bridge. Would highly recommend a stay at this lovely gem of a site will definitely be returning.

Tranquil with great scenery

The surrounding area is beautiful with walks all around via the path to the estuary as mentioned in other reviews. Estuary walk long, flat and easy so take a picnic and take your time to enjoy! The site is a working farm so lovely to be staying at lambing time. The site itself got quite muddy when it rained but the owners were very willing and helpful in towing us off. We found water supply fine (in reference to earlier reviewer). Toilets a short walk away down tarmac drive and in housing/cottage rental area and they are best toilets we have ever seen, very clean! Showers are £1 for 7 minutes. You will need to bring a cable to pick up TV signal on the site as no transmitter in area now. Wi-Fi is not available on the site itself but if you walk to owners house they have a reception area where you can sit and access freely. Leaflets in reception too, we ourselves visited Port Meirion and Snowdonia (about 1 hr away). Site easy to find off main road but drive quite steep on exit if you have an underpowered car like us so get ready to step on the gas!! All in all a great site and I can see why it is so popular, those views are stunning!

Great for bikes

The route to the Mawddach trail is easy on bikes through the woods, then turn left onto the trail and enjoy great views of the estuary all the way to Barmouth. The trail ends with a short downhill section on the road to Barmouth. Nice flat grassy site, safe for our 2 year old who enjoyed throwing stones in the nearby river. Loos are about 200 yards away, very clean with an adjoining shower, £1 for 7 mins of nice hot water! Great view of Cadair Idris from the van.

Just stunning!!

We have just returned from our first visit to this site...wow...the scenery is just stunning. With access to the Mawddach Trail just a short woodland walk from site (approx 10 minutes but thats with a labrador that does a lot of sniffing!). We had a lovely week, and met some lovely people who were also staying there and the owners who were extremely helpful. The river Gwynant runs alongside the site and it was mesmerising to watch it babble along its way, especially after the rain we had one night! This will certainly be a holiday to remember. We will be back!! Claire and Andy and Lexie the Lab

Location

For me this site is about its location. Sitting by the van in the sunshine with views of horses in the field and mountains behind was wonderful. Also the walk through the woods (200yds approx) to the Mawddach estuary was great. The water supply is from a spring, which is fine but it does take quite a long time to fill an aquaroll. Also after a couple of days on site the water coming out of the taps in the van slowed to almost nothing. On investigation I discovered the filter was blocked. I have not had this happen before. Maybe there are more particles in spring water ? A lovely site, well worth a try.

Perfect Peace

This was our first visit to this sit and we were well pleased, we did not meet Mrs Jones as she was on holiday, but met Rupert her son who was very nice. The views from the caravan were lovely, and you went through a gate to walk to the estuary. Must say we really enjoyed it and hope to be back

Great site

This was our second visit to Abergwynant Farm and we were welcomed like old friends by Mrs Jones.  The site has plenty of space and is well looked after.  Wifi is not available on the site but it is only a short walk from the farmhouse where you can sit in comfort if you need to catch up on emails etc.  The walks from the site are exceptional, within minutes you are on the Mawddach Trail and there are many other fantastic walks nearby.  You can see our walks in this area on our blog www.twodogsandanawning.co.uk  We aim to return soon.

Excellent CL.

This is a truly excellent CL, the situation is breathtaking, with easy level access to the Mawddach trail, or more strenuous routes if that is your wont. Dolgellau is a lovely town, with all the facilities required for a good holiday. The field drains really well, which was a bonus for us with our large dog, because we had some wet days. However the weather could not detract from beauty of the scenery. One point to note is that the shower & toilets (which are very good) are some way from the CL site (probably some 500/600 yards), which may be a problem for members who require facilities close by. It is possible to travel by car to the facilities. The owners of the site are very friendly and helpful and wonderful organic eggs are available at the farmhouse. We shall be visiting here regularly in the future.

The perfect location

Whilst touring Wales for a month, we had been staying an average of 4 nights in each area. We arrived here with a booking for 4 nights and stayed 11! It is, without doubt, the best location we found. The sunsets over Cader Idris are amazing and we were lucky enough to have a full moon while we were there too. Magical. The Mawddach Trail is fantastic for biking or walking. So many things to do it is impossible to mention them all. Dolgellau is a lovely original little Welsh granite and slate town with lots of nice eating places. Resident dipper in the stream that runs through the farm. Great walks through the woods. I could go on and on. The weather wasn't so good for the second half of our stay, but the area is so beautiful that it just didn't matter. This really is a perfect CL.
