Fantastic!

Fantastic! One of the largest CL's we have ever stayed on. A really good footpath at bottom of site for dog walking. We saw hares and deer in the stubble fields next to the site. Well organised site with pitch allocated and very little levelling required. Very good value for money.

Well Kept

Just back from a week on this lovely CL. It's difficult to add to the previous comprehensive reviews by "Wherenext" and "CaroleJay", suffice to say that it is a very well managed site, owner very friendly and accommodating. Plenty of places of interest, obviously Whitby for the statutory fish and chips to be "shared" with the over friendly seagulls. Thankfully we were not attacked. We managed to visit 3 NT and 4 English Heritage properties. North Yorks steam railway including the station at Goathland for Harry Potter fans and the village itself at Goathland for Heartbeat fans. For cyclists and walkers there's plenty of routes including the cinder track between Whitby and Scarborough. If you want totally clear views of the valley and the Abbey would suggest you ask if the pitches furthest from the road end of the field are available. Happy to recommend and would visit again.

On top of the World

...or so it seemed. If you are looking for a CL with a panoramic view then this is the site for you. There are 2 pitches that allow you to look down towards the silhouette of Whitby Abbey with the other 3 looking over the valley. Whichever you are allocated you will have a splendiferous view. The CL is grassed, mostly flat, with just the odd tweaking that may be necessary, although the distance between outfits means you should be able to find a level pitch. It is extremely well looked after and all the necessary points are well signed and very clear. There are waste bins for recycling. The previous reviewers have mentioned the village with its pub which is well frequented and we have seen the bus stop right outside the site to let a couple of members off. The buses are very regular and seem to go to Whitby and beyond to Scarborough or to Middlesborough. It is a very peaceful site but quite open to the elements and you may find an awning more trouble than it's worth if high winds arrive. There is a local Park and Ride about 800 yards away, but you will have to walk on grass verges to get there if not using your vehicle. If you want hardstanding then I suggest you book the owners other site at Toft Farm which has 2 hardstanding pitches. All in all a wonderful place to enjoy the delights this part of the world provides and a must to return to. Price at the time of visit was £13 per night and includes a small porch awning, same price without. Larger awnings face a £4 p.n. charge, although I am unsure if this is on top of the £13 p.n. fee or if it is £11 plus £4. Best ask the owner when booking.

On Top of The World

We have just returned from a few days at Abbey View and it was wonderful. The far reaching glorious views from the caravan are stunning, including a view of Whitby Abbey, which stands silhouetted against the sea. We enjoyed a real 'dawn chorus' heard skylarks and our first cuckoo of the year The CL is well managed; the facilities are arranged conveniently and are scrupulously clean. The grass is cut regularly and looks as though it is the householders’ lawn! The Field is flat and no levelling was required at all. Arriving on site, a board clearly indicated which pitch we were to use. Very helpful. The area offers a lot of wonderful opportunities for walking and/or driving. An easy drive to Robin Hood’s Bay, Staithes, and to points on the Cleveland Way. One to return to we think. Thanks Loraine

2017 East Coast Tour

This is an excellent CL. It is easy to find and access is good. It is located high on the moors overlooking Whitby and the coast, on the edge of a pretty village with a nice pub. The site is well laid out and organised, Your pitch is allocated by the owner, which is posted on a chalkboard at the site entrance. Drinking water, grey waste and toilet waste points are very good and easily accessible. The field is flat, very well maintained and well drained, the grass kept well cut, the pitches level and well spaced out, with views over open countryside. There is a regular bus service from the village to Whitby, and on to Scarborough, the stop being a few minutes walk from site. The owners were helpful and friendly. There was a problem with our electric hook up which they quickly and efficiently resolved, firstly putting us on a temporary supply. They then organised an electrician to visit later that day who fixed a fault in the connection box due to some maintenance work that had been done the previous day. We highly recommend this site and will definitely visit again.

Peace and Quiet

We have stayed at Abbey View before and have just spent 10 days enjoying the peaceful and well maintained site and fabulous weather. The owner takes pride in her CL and makes you feel very welcome. Nothing is too much trouble and we want to say thank you to Loraine who came to our aid when our car broke down and we over stayed our visit; we felt we had to mention this because of the previous review which mentioned 6 vans and breaking club rules. I hold my hands up and admit it was more than likely me because of the problem with my car. I think that rules are there for a good reason and should not be broken but surely when unexpected circumstances arise then an act of kindness and discretion on both sides is appreciated. Again Thank you Loraine. See you next spring.

A PLACE WITH A VIEW.

Perfect in almost every way, the views from pitches 1 to 5 are breathtaking. Whilst next to the main village road noise does not exist. The site is kept in very good order with the grass being mowed as soon as a pitch is vacated with all cuttings collected, meaning no grass being trampled into your awning or van. The owner allocates pitches so be sure to check the board when you arrive and note when booking pitch 6 is only 12feet away from the water point, waste water point and the chemical toilet disposal point, so if you dont want this make it clear when you book as the site gets busy and you want be able to change on arrival. If I have any negatives at all it is that the owner does exceed the 5 van limit, there being 6 units on the site twice during our stay. Whilst there is more than enough space on the site I still think that, if like us you use CLs because of the limitation on numbers, you do not want sites to break Club rules like this !! Having had this moan we would still go back again when next in this area.

A piece of heaven

This is the first CL site we have visited but if this one is anything to go on it will definitely not be the last. It was a last minute booking so we were lucky to find this new site as most others we tried were booked up.The sat Nav took us straight to the site with no problems, other than it took us past the site on the left. If you reach the other CL owned by the same couple which is directly in front of you as you enter Aislaby, then you have past this site. Brilliant site ,facilities and views, topped off with a lovely welcome. Meals at the village pub are really tasty and great country pub. Well worth a visit and will definitely be back.

Well maintained CL

After three days on this CL I am happy to report a well maintained, large, level site with good open views of the Abbey and surrounding countryside. You should be aware that this CL is on a working arable farm, so there are, 'working,' noises at harvest time. (Combined harvesters are not quiet, - and rape seed blossom is not everyone's favourite earlier in the year). Most of the year, this will not apply, so having noted that, I will be returning. It's a super location, with a good pub and the bus runs past the CL - the stop is a five minute walk into the village beside the pub. The proprietors are approachable and welcoming.
