Beautiful camp site

Wow!! The views from this camp site are outstanding! Frank had left a message on a board for us to choose a pitch...We could see the sea and Whitby Abbey from here, but also stunning views to our right..the grass is kept short and is picked up , so it dosnt get dragged in to the motorhome when in and out....Frank came to see us late afternoon for payment, but also had a lovely chat with us about different places to visit etc...he was very helpful, and the site is spotless. The park n ride is only a mile away, but as my husband is an amputee it was too far to walk, so we drove to it...This is so easy, and the bus driver was really helpful too...he told us that there is a yellow bus that can take you to the Abbey, instead of using the steps... this turned out to be perfect as it does a tour of Whitby on the way....we stayed for 3 nights...will most definately go back to this stunning site when in the area again...very good value...loved it...thank you Frank...Bob and Carol Walker...Cornwall

Very peaceful stay.

A delightful CL. Abbey view is definitely guaranteed. Very peaceful surroundings and very well spaced out vans. Booking email very responsive and arrival was welcoming. Frank even mowed my pitch before setting up. Aisalby is a lovely little village. Lots of walking directly from site. I will certainly return

Could be Better

What a great view over Whitby & The Abbey. Ideal location for visiting Whitby and the North Yorkshire Moors. Whist the site overall was very good there are some issues with the information on the Caravan Club website. • It has been open for approximately 8 years so not a new site. • Some pitches are not level, we had to use levelling blocks and were unable to get our awning up as pitch sloped and the caravan door was rubbing on the top of the awning. • There is a charge for awnings which is not mentioned. • This is the only CL site that I’ve been on where you had to have a waste hog and not run grey water into hedgerow (Apparently grey waste damages his grass?) We don’t now carry a waste hog for CL sites • Deposit was £50 not £19 as stated we didn’t mind this as we were staying for 3 nights and meant we only had £16 to pay, or so we thought. When the owner came to collect he asked for £38 as he said we had 4 nights! (as he showed us to our pitch he knew when we arrived). He then said we owed him £18 we said no £16 but he was adamant so we just paid. This meant the site was £22.66 per night. Needless to say we will not be returning, which is a shame as the location and general condition of the site is good.

North Yorkshire CL

A gem of a site with plenty of room and fantastic scenery. We were on no5 pitch which arguably is the best in terms of uninterrupted views down the Dale and across towards Whitby. The site is idealy suited to visiting Scarborough, Whitby, Robin Hoods Bay, Staithes and other villages along the coast. A bus runs hourly past site and there is a fantastic and cheap park and ride close by with secure parking and frequent buses. Various garages and supermarkets for supplies also a short drive. Mr Frank Hall runs an excellent site that is well kept, signed and monitored. Definitely a site to return to.

Fantastic site!

Just spent 2 fantastic weeks staying here in May. A place so convenient to everything in Whitby! Well located, park n ride bus just round the corner - very handy. Can’t wait to go back! This site is a must stay, great views, lovely owners - overall a very good experience :)

Excellent CL

We have just returned from a week's stay at Abbey View and we can honestly say that it is the biggest CL we have ever visited and also one of the best kept. Our name was on the arrivals board when we arrived so setting up was very easy and we were delighted with the wonderful views over the Esk valley. It is worth pointing out that the view does come at a price because the site is exposed to an Easterly wind and for four days of our stay the wind was definitely cold and brought constant cloud cover when most parts of the country were basking in sunshine. There is a sister site across the road which is equally well kept but doesn't have the same views nor the same exposure to the wind so there is a choice to be made between views and shelter if you wish to stay in the village of Aislaby. The village is very conveniently placed for Whitby and all it has to offer and there is a frequent (but not as frequent as it was) X93/X94 bus service. For the more energetic, it is perfectly possible to walk into Whitby directly from the site, along the Esk valley, and return by bus. One minor criticism is that what appeared to be a recycling bin had no sign explaining what should be put in it and towards the end of our stay was full to overflowing with all sorts of things. TV and mobile broadband reception were both decent most of the time. All in all a great site and we will definitely return.

Perfect

Just stayed 2 nights, communication good, site easy to find name and pitch number is on a board on arrival, site is beautifully kept, large pitches, views just lovely, so relaxing. So nice to stay on a site where it’s obvious the owners care, will definitely return.

Spacious, well kept, and lives up to its name

This CL certainly lives up to its name, with superb views down to Whitby, the Abbey and the sea, yet does not feel too elevated or isolated, with good access to the A171 into Whitby. Mr Hall left instructions on the board for us on arrival about pitching, and soon came to see us to collect our balance of payment. The site is quite large, with views also down into the Esk Valley, yet is kept mown to an excellent standard.

Beautiful site with fantastic views

The running of the site changed after we booked so a bit of confusion when we arrived, but easily sorted. Beautiful CL with excellent views of Whitby and the Abbey. You can also see the steam railway in the valley. Lovely area within easy reach of several tourist attractions. We will be back.
