Brilliant Location and Setting!

This CL is in a great location with easy access to Llangollen via a lovely mile walk along the canal towpath. The setting is wonderful, surrounded by the mountains and overlooked by Castel Dinas Bran on the hilltop above Llangollen. Although the road to the Horseshoe Pass runs adjacent to the site, we weren't really disturbed by the traffic at night, though wouldn't know what it was like during the day as we were out and about most of the time! The only thing we could hear in the early morning were the sounds of the sheep which doesn't bother us anyway. The pitches are fine, though we did need to level the caravan up a bit and we were a bit cramped on our pitch as we have an awning so would ask for a different pitch in future. There are a lot of greenhouses, plants in pots etc, but it is a plant nursery and didn't really bother us as we expect basic facilities in CLs as the advantages of cost, tranquillity etc far outweigh the disadvantages. Michael and Joan were really friendly and helpful, and even though Michael was really busy hosting a local church barbeque on one of the days we stayed, he still found time to chat to us and even took our grandchildren, who were visiting us, on a train ride around the site on his narrow guage railway, which is absolutely brilliant! We had a lovely meal at the Chain Bridge Hotel, which is on the towpath in the opposite direction to Llangollen, or you can get to it if you turn right from the caravan site and walk a short distance up the road. This is in a lovely setting and the kids loved walking along the wobbly bridge! All in all we had a wonderful break at Abbey Nurseries and wouldn't hesitate in staying again in the near future.

Nice site, good location but needs a few improvements

We passed this by twice before we spotted the Caravan Club sign! Great location for access into Llangollen either by car or on foot. Right by the canal and some great walks. Lovely views from the sight. I agree with a previous reviewer about the chemical waste unit and the short hose making it difficult to clean and the EHU points being too near to the greenhouses. Overall a nice site but could be improved.

Room for Improvement

The location of this site is stunning, with excellent views all around. The site though is something of an eyesore with piles of building materials, timber, and even an open container of pieces of broken glass! The place needs some T.L.C. The chemical waste facility is very sub-standard with rough concrete walls leading to the waste pipe. This together with a gravity fed length of water hose (which doesn't reach) makes cleaning after use rather difficult! I think that also the "quiet site" description should be removed, as the "A" class road which immediately abutts the site leads to the "Horseshoe Pass" and is very popular with noisy motorcyclists, and performance cars. The E.H.U. points are all located at the nursery end of the field, which means that we had to pitch adjacent to the "working end" of the site amidst the greenhouses and other detritus!

A place of beauty

A traditional site with the most beautiful scenery surrounding it. We arrived on a very wet day and although the ground was soggy following several days of rain we managed to pitch along the edge without any problem. The site is approx 1 mile from Llangollen and 3/4 mile from the horseshoe falls both easily available along the canal toll path.  The owners were very helpful and friendly and much to our delight presented us with an Easter egg on Easter Sunday- a gift very well received and generously given.

Lovely Situation

On arrival we received a very warm welcome from Michael and Joan. The CL field is large and the pitches are well placed to afford each unit a lovely outlook across to the surrounding hills. We suffered a serious problem with our water system. Michael and Joan couldn't have been more helpful in getting the problem sorted and then we had a wonderful holiday in a beautiful setting

What a find

Just returned from 6 night stay at Abbey Nurseries and am loathed to put this review up as it's so lovely I want to keep it to myself. Joan and Michael are lovely hosts. Basic facilities, but adequate for most people with a modern caravan. Spacious we'll kept lawned area, with views of the surrounding hills. Easy access to the canal, river Dee and the nearby town of Llangollen. Loads to do in the area, with information available on site in the form of a file supplied on your arrival. Will certainly be returning in the future. The Websters.

How Caravaning should be

My sort of CL, I had a problem whilst I was here and the site owners and fellow campers couldn't have done more to help, Thank you all . Basic camping attracts the right sort of camper.

Very disapointed!

From driving in through the broken gate and the pot holes we drove through it was not enticing. We were sited near the turning circle as the field was too wet to pitch on. It may have been easier if the owner informed us of this and we could have found a better site. There was a lot of detritus of broke wheelbarrows plus other things that we couldn't work out what they had been in there former life. The owner was pleasant enough but we feel he doesn't see what visitors see. Instead of filling in pot holes or fixing the gate he was trying to relay his miniture rail line! The surrounding area is lovely with an easy walk into the town along the towpath. In the opposite direction a short walk to a pud near to the river. We will not stay here again or recomend it to others which is a shame as it could be lovely.

A little gem of a CL

We arrived to a warm and very helpful welcome. We were shown the recycling facilities, Llangollen has a strict recycling system which was made easy for us. The owner has prepared a file with local places of interest etc, which he left for our perusal, and asked to drop back the next morning which was most helpful. We given some apples from the trees. Our privacy was respected and were left alone to enjoy our holiday. The site is in a beautiful and peaceful location and is in a perfect position to explore and there are lovely walks along the canal to Llangollen its self. We will definitely use again when next in the area. Thank you for a lovely break.

Could have been better

To be fair a handy place to stay with lots of good walks etc. nearby. But... The main field wasn't available due to the ground conditions (so why not tell us when we booked?) That meant three outfits close to the drive and turning circle of the house and nursery. Consequently it wasn't very private and wasn't particularly attractive. I'm sure the main field, when available, would be a much nicer place to stay.
