Beautiful and oh so peaceful

Just returned from a four night stay. It is so peaceful, all you can hear are the birds singing and the faint sound of the trains in the distance. We walked with our dog across the fields into Battle which took 15 mins. The site is slightly slopping, has two clean toilets and a hot shower which we are always glad to have on a cl site as we have a VW camper. For £14 a night, you don't expect the Ritz. The countryside is lovely and there are many walks from the site in which to walk the dog. The area is beautiful and all the fields around the site are arable which is great with a dog. Battle is lovely with a few shops and eating places. We also visited Hastings which is a little tired looking but Old town was lovely as was Alexandria park. Rye was very quaint and we also walked along Camber Sands all within a short drive from the site.

Not for us!

Spent a couple of days here last week. Such a beautiful, sunny position and the owners are just so lovely. Unfortunately, the grass was very long and wet, not great with two dogs! Toilets were just about ok, although I really didn't fancy using the shower as it just didn't look clean. I think if the grass had been kept short, we could have forgiven the toilet and shower, but combined, we regretfully have to say this site is not for us!

Peaceful site

Just returned from a lovely relaxing weekend. The site now has extra toilets and shower, very useful. The owner is very friendly and not intrusive. We will definitely be going back.

Little Gem

What a fantastic site. Mr and Mrs Turner and family are so welcoming and polite. Nonthing is too much trouble. We have just come home from having spent Easter and can't wait to go back again next week for the May bank holiday. Lots to do here easy walk into Battle across the fields and many walks straight from the camp site. Lovely quiet surroundings great just lazy about with a glass of wine listening to the birds sing.

Caring people

Mr & Mrs Turner were so kind and understanding on the telephone for which were are so greatful. We shall be hoping to come and see you when Scooby is better. Thank you both. Andrea Kerry & Scooby

A Great Site

We had a one week holiday here and wished we could have stayed for two weeks. The site is kept in good overall condition, ie grass cut every week, the toilets and showers have been refurbished and work well. Comments about the lane into the site being very bad regarding terrible potholes etc are daft. Drive according to conditions and NO problems what so ever. The owner Mike and his hard working sons are very very friendly and laid back to say the least. We shall go back. DAK. Norfolk Nomads

Lovely site, great 2 weeks!

We had a great 2 weeks stay at this site and have no complaints whatsoever.  Mike and Tina were very friendly and helpful, giving a map of all the many  footpaths in the area.  Battle is very close, you can even (just about) see the Battle abbey in the distance. We didn't use the toilets or shower much simply because our caravan has all the facilities we need.  We did have a look round and I can honestly say if we had needed to use it I would have no hesitation, a bit makeshift as others have said but perfectly adequate and a bonus for a CL. The site is away from traffic noise and is very peaceful.  The grass was no problem it was cut sufficiently.  The ground is also no problem, in fact even after a very heavy downpour there was no mud! We will definitely go back to that site for another peaceful holiday in that area.

From Essex

Spent a week at this CL it is just a short walk into the lovely town of Battle which as we all know has Plenty of History what with the Battle of Hastings etc. The toilets and showers are a lot better then many a CL that we have stayed on in the past. Had a short ride to Hastings and Camber Sands. Nice long country Dog Walks and Mike the owner was very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed our stay and will decently be going back in the near future.

Lovely Cl

Just had two weeks on this lovely CL, Lane a bit bumpy just take it slow, Showers/toilets bit makeshift but were cleaned and useable during our stay, They were built and are maintained by Marshal arts clubs to give deprived kids a holiday, the CL being closed during this period,There are loads of footpaths for walking in the area [10 min in to Battle],Brilliant for South downs and towns, Owners Mike and Tina are very helpfull and accommodating. I will be back.

Exactly what it said on the tin - and more

Just returned from a weeks stay at this marvelous little site.  The owner, Michael, could not have been more helpful and accommodating.  Why anyone would want to give this CL a negative review is beyond comprehension.  So the lane leading to the site was a bit bumpy.  Then drive slower.  And what if the grass was a touch long.  I've been on Caravan Club site where the ride on mower was in constant use.  Who wants that sort of noise all day long.  The toilets and showers were more than adequate.  Lashings of piping hot water, a lock on the door and soft toilet paper.  Really what else do you need?  A short stroll round a cornfield to a lovely little pub in Battle was no hardship.  I managed it most days and never got lost.  Thankyou Uckham Lane CL.  I will be back.
