Hi everyone,

We wanted you to be the first to know about a new member offer with My Esso Card. The My Esso Card is a fuel card that provides savings at 1,300 Esso fuel stations to help drive down the cost of touring. Members are guaranteed to save on fuel at every Esso station across the UK with the only consumer facing fuel card.

We are the only organisation within the touring industry able to provide this offer to members.

What is the saving?

On average members will typically save 8p per litre on premium diesel or unleaded fuel and 5p per litre on standard diesel or unleaded fuel. That’s a typical saving of £5.60 per tank on premium fuel or £3.50 on standard fuel (based on 70 litre tank of fuel).

The saving varies based on the My Esso Card special rate and the Esso pump price rate. In the unlikely event that the pump price is lower than the My Esso Card special rate members are guaranteed to save 1p per litre on the pump price. You can use the My Esso Card to fill up all your vehicles, not just the one you tour with.

There are no fees to sign up and no transaction or processing fees. You can also earn your Tesco Clubcard points when filling up.

We are also running a competition for members for a chance to win free fuel.

To launch this great new offer, My Esso Card are giving Caravan and Motorhome Club members an exclusive chance to win free fuel. 10 lucky winners will win 175 litres of fuel and another 10 lucky winners 75 litres of fuel!  Members need to register for a card and fill by 31 December 2018 to be entered into the random prize draw.  Winners will automatically have the fuel credit added to their My Esso Card account.

To find out more about this member offer visit My Esso Card Member Offer on the Club website

No, I'm afraid not. I would however like to invite feedback to those who opt in to join, keep us posted on this forum on savings and comparisons. Please remember this is all 4 main fuel types.

That way you can see savings and decide to join or otherwise.

as i have an Esso station only 2 miles away i thought it would be a smart move, especially as we run 2 cars, but have to agree the administration has been very poor and I notice now a lack of response/apology from the club.

Not much use for me and I prefer to keep less useful cards out of my wallet space

This should be a BIG winner for me doing 40,000 miles pa only using either Shell/Esso Super Diesel and both my local garages are Esso !!

On Supermarket fuels, my car (3 ltr V6 diesel) averaged 34 mpg and clogged up the DPF soot filter.  I switched a year ago to Shell / Esso Supers and its never clogged up and has averaged 39 mpg ever since, so the extra cost is more than offset by the extra distance (+90 miles / tank).

Tesco 99 petrol is more economical too (even in a 1.0 litre VW Up) but no supermarket does a super diesel.

Motoring Expert "Honest John" swears by Shell Super fuels and I can now see why - just look at it as Pence Per Mile, not MPG.

Thank you so much everyone for your feedback. It’s great to hear that some of you have already received your cards and are making savings. To those of you that have not yet received your My Esso card, we are sincerely sorry. Due to the large amount of registrations, over 9,000 people have already signed up, there has been some delays. The team at My Esso card are working hard to resolve all issues and the Club is monitoring this discussion closely.

Initially I wan't going to bother with this offer but then thought it might be a useful thing to have so applied for a card.

It came through the post in a day or so and I used it to top the car up at a nearby Esso, by way of a test run, with about £20 worth of diesel.

We have no Asda here, so the cheapest diesel locally is Morrisons or Sainsburys at £1.31. Via the Esso card I paid £1.26 which came out of my current account a day or two afterwards, but gave a saving of 5p per litre on anything else available within 50 miles.... I also consider it better to be supporting a small local garage rather than any major national company.

I'm with you Justus.  If one has concerns about giving your card details well so be it.  But to me it seems to be a win win deal.  Thank you Club for negotiating it with Esso. I have my card and pin and received the weekly price on Friday by text msg which would give me a saving of 9p a ltr over my local Tesco.  I am ready to use it when I need to fill up.

Seems to be a lot of confusion being generated about this card.

It is up to the individual about giving card details to third parties, but been using PayPal for years and not had a problem with them.

Regarding fuel costs, you get a text on Friday stating the card price for fuel next week. My last one showed diesel at £1.261 p/l. The Esso garage is £1.319 p/l. So a saving there.

Now this 1p thing. If the Esso garage drops it's price to say, £1.261, then the card price will drop to £1.251, so giving this 1p saving per litre.

Local supermarkets are around £1.297 upwards for diesel.
