Dash Cam

I guess we are all tired of the countless posts about wi fi or early arrival on site. Well this, I think is a brand new topic, which could save an enormous amount of money.

We are aware of the scam, "Cash for Cash" where someone, maybe not be insured reverses into us on purpose to make a false claim against us. Also in an accident which is not your fault, it is often difficult to prove the other party is at fault.

I have recently got a dash cam in my car to support against the above problem. There are many products available, mine is an Amacam costing just under £40. also I fitted a 32Gb Micro SD card which will record up to 6 hours of HD video. The clarity is good as it is possible to read Reg. numbers of cars ahead.

It goes without saying the potential here for saving big time money, in the event of an accident, Does'nt bear thinking about not just cost of damage tothe veichle, but also the caravan, especially the loss of no claims bonuses.

Just an add on here, I also see some insurance companies will give up to 10% discount on premiums where a dash cam is fitted. There's a thought, maybe the club insurance may like to consider this. Give this one some thought fellow members.

Another vote for the mobius

I use it for track days, nurburgring etc. but will be using it in the tug when we tour Europe this year.

Really discreet, no onboard screen, but the pictue quality is great.

I ordered mine from the distributor in China via ebay. Elephantonline. Superb value and service

Write your comments here...Oops forgot that bit it was from http://hiniko.com/ the guy's name is Niko and he is in Dublin. If you email him he will give you an honest unbiased response even if it costs him a sale, and by the way I have NO connection at all with him or his company other than being a very satisfied customer who ran him wragged with qustions at a time when he was just starting his business he is a rare bod in that customer service comes first with him.

My son won't go out in his Lotus without a Go Pro fitted. Due to the car's low height many drivers cannot see it and then cut him up (especially at roudabouts). One driver hit him, and then said my son pulled out from the inner lane without looking. My son was able to prove this was not the case, and show it was the other driver who changed lanes, and did not lose his no claim bonus.

I have the same problem in my Smart Roadster. I think some see it & pull out anyway ... they seem to equate small with being slow! Yell

I bought my first dash cam after being hit on a roundabout when the 3rd party changed lanes without looking.

As most insurance companies try to go down the knock for knock route when it involves a roundabout it's invaluable.

There used to be a sign on the M1 just outside London that advised people to get one to protect themselves.

It was put there by the Metropolitan Police.

There is a large range available on amazon, but good night recording is a must.
